Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual cycle length and fertility

menstrual-cycle

Avatar n tn You count the length of your cycle from the first day of your last period to the first day of your next period. The length of your mentration does not calculate. Once you know the average length of your cycle, you can find out when you are supposed to O.
Avatar n tn t yet, or you could have ovulated sooner and just have a very low, insufficient, progesterone levels that need to be treated. If you can answer the questions about average cycle length, and any type of way you've tried to locate ovulation that would be very helpful in answering your question. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Its asking for my luteal phase and my menstrual cycle length.. My last period was kinda off by a lot! Okay, June 11th thru 16th was the last period.. and the one before that was April 16th thru 22nd. May is the first cycle I've skipped in years! Is there anyone that can help me with trying to chart this please?! I am on mymonthlycycle.com and idk what numbers to put in.
Avatar n tn m having longer cycles with ovulation at day 20-21 (confirmed with fertility monitor and temperature) and a luteal phase of 12 days. With my last miscarriage I ovulated on day 20 and had a missed abortion. I am reading about a link between delayed ovulation and miscarriage. What is your opinion and the general opinion among your colleagues? To me the explanation about old eggs seems reasonable. I'm just wondering what to do, I'm scared to conceive again while having a late ovulation.
Avatar n tn in the ovulation calendar, there is this info that i need to fill-up like my first day of my last period, length of menstrual cycle in a month, and lutheal phase...i filled this up based on what happened to my cycle just this month and it shows that i am not fertile this whole week..
Avatar f tn s reports of the usual length of their cycle. The women reported usual cycle lengths as short as 19 days and as long as 60 days, with 28 days being the most common. We found substantial correlation between usual cycle length at enrolment and day of ovulation (follicular phase length) during the study (R=0.55, all cycles). Thus, self reported cycle length can be useful in predicting whether a woman is in her fertile window.
586373 tn?1312031791 s confusing to look at and makes it difficult to see where you are in your cycle and compare cycle length and other things. Also, is there any way you could alter the colours used? It's counter-intuitive to have "cervix texture" marked in red instead of using red for menstruation. You've also got near-identical colours side by side, which makes the chart harder to read.
Avatar n tn I have very regular periods and it still took us over 3 years to conceive a child and we had to use fertility drugs and procedures so it's worth you getting to the doctor on something like this, even if you don't want to have children someday. Take care!
Avatar f tn so count 14 days back from your next menstrual cycle. and start having sex a couple days before then.
Avatar f tn I am a 22-year-old medical student and know that normal cycle length varies between 28 to 35 days. My cycle however is around 40 days and sometimes more or less.. The question is, can that be normal? I'm a little overweight but not obese, I exercise regularly and I don't think I have any obvious signs of PCO. Any help?
Avatar f tn s all your using should base itself virtually exclusively on readings not cycle length. Ever woman and circumstance can be so different that yes, in theory you could be ovulating later if your cycle is longer, but you could just as easily have a longer luteal phase. Plus if you have an irregular cycle and the monitor is basing itself on your previous cycle that reduces effectiveness even more. The "average" time of ovulation would be 10 -16 days before your period begins.
7826013 tn?1394702329 Fertile days can be calculated from the first day of menses which is taken as the first day of the menstrual cycle and counted till the next menses. You can also use the ovulation calendar or ovulation detection kits. However this is not a very safe method if you want to prevent a pregnancy. It is better to use some form of contraception. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations.
Avatar f tn here is what i found and it DOES NOT mention ovarian cysts ***A woman’s menstrual cycle is highly individual, and can range anywhere from 24–37 days. What’s “normal” is what’s normal for you. The length of your cycle may be affected by many things, including illness, stress, travel, fertility medication, and close association with other women.
Avatar n tn Given that I was on the pill for so long, does it take time for my cycle to normalize? I have no idea what the length of my cycle was prior to starting the pill. Thanks for any advice.
Avatar m tn m a 24yr otherwise healthy male, and my fiance is a 22yr old healthy female. My question is can alcohol affect fertility? I recently was a heavy drinker and party goer, drinking around 8 beers a day and on the weekends more, I know the health affects it has on my body otherwise that is why I dont do this anymore.
Avatar f tn Follicle Stimulating Hormone, (FSH), is one of many hormones that your body uses to regulate your menstrual cycle and to control the maturation of your eggs. FSH signals the ovaries to mature one or more eggs for ovulation each month/cycle. If your ovarian reserve (eggs) is low in quantity or quality, your pituitary will produce higher than normal FSH levels early in the cycle, trying to stimulate your ovaries to produce a mature egg.
1793094 tn?1315374636 The last day of your cycle is the day BEFORE your menstrual bleeding starts. This number would be the total length of your cycle.
Avatar f tn A woman can ovulate pretty much any time in her cycle, though ovulating earlier than day 4 or 5 would be pretty unusual. It all depends on the length and regularity of your cycles. A woman with a clockwork 28-day cycle would be at her most fertile on day 14, but sperm can live 5 or 6 days in her system, so she would need to be careful from day 8 onward until about day 16. But there is really no predicting ovulation. Women with irregular cycles could ovulate whenever.
362408 tn?1236441081 Is this your first month counting your cycle? If it is, than I would adjust your cycle to when you get your AF. I know for me, this is my first month off the pill. The pill forced me to be on a 28 day cycle, but I don't know if my natural cycle is that length. So, I should get AF Monday if I truly have a 28 day cycle.
1014955 tn?1273154532 Well look into everything really good. Do your research. I would think that going on BC to regulate ur cycle would be the worst thing to do if you are TTC wouldn't it? I have the same cycle length as you and there was one cycle that it was 45 days long but I almost feel in my heart that it must have been something there. Maybe a chemical pregnancy?!
Avatar n tn I have irregular period cycle. Ave period length is 2 weeks, with 2-3 weeks "break" in between. It causes my calendar to mess up (we're trying to conceive). Is this menstrual cycle normal? Any advice re timing?
Avatar n tn The FIRST RESPONSE® Fertility Test for Women detects FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), on Day 3 of a woman’s menstrual cycle in order to assess her ovarian reserve, an indicator of fertility. Women who want to assess their ability to conceive may find the results of this test useful. The test must be done on Day 3 of your cycle. Count the first day of bleeding or spotting as Day 1 of your cycle. A small amount of blood in your urine from your period should not affect the results in any way.
Avatar f tn I am 35 years old and I'm currently not having any menstrual cycle(6 mos). I wanted to know is this any chance that I can get pregnant? I recently had sex and I'm just curious if there have been cases of women getting pregnant who are not having a menstrual cycle?
