20922415 tn?1661860103 During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones (follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH] and luteinizing hormone [LH]) that cause a new egg to mature and be released from its ovarian follicle each month. As the follicle develops, it produces the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which thicken the lining of the uterus called the endometrium.
Avatar f tn I hate to disagree with anyone, but there are women that do have a rare second ovulation during their menstrual cycle. But probably what is more common when a woman gets pregnant 'on her period' is that she has sex during her period and the sperm lives a few days and she ovulates a bit early== wa la, pregnant. There is NO safe time to have unprotected sex. There are less fertile times but no time that is guaranteed to be safe.
Avatar m tn But if you want peace of mind, do a pregnancy test. I would not worry about the spotting at this point as occasional menstrual irregularities are not unusual.
Avatar f tn So, I have recently found out that I AM expecting a few days ago. I went in because of some vaginal bleeding and it wasn't time for my menstrual cycle. Well, they did a blood test and we came to find out that I was indeed a week and a half pregnant. Basically, I guess what my question is... "How long does implantation bleeding occur?" Also, if this ISN'T implantation bleedng, what COULD be wrong? Should I be worried. Im going to go ahead and schedule a Dr.
Avatar f tn A woman with a light period is not gaining much thickness in her endometrial lining during the early part of the menstrual cycle. This is usually an indication that estrogen levels are lower than normal. If estrogen levels are low, progesterone levels are likely to also be low and a woman may or may not ovulate with her cycles.
Avatar f tn If you have a 28 day menstrual cycle you are likely to be ovulating around mid-cycle. If you have a short cycle, you could ovulate within days of your period ending while with a long cycle, you could ovulate two weeks after your period has ended. Ovulation predictor kits available in the market can help you detect when you are ovulating. Take a healthy balanced diet and exercise daily. Refrain from smoking and alcohol.
187316 tn?1386356682 Early pregnancy bleeding is not at all uncommon and many women report that they do bleed regularly during the early portion of their pregnancies. This is not at all a menstrual cycle though; it is usually referred to as early pregnancy bleeding. This bleeding is usually is due to hormonal changes and is not of the quantities of blood that a woman typically sees when having her normal menstrual period.
Avatar n tn There are various reasons of bleeding during pregnancy so yes You can have PERIOD LIKE bleeding and be pregnant at the same time but not actual period.Very few woman experience bleeding for few months at the same time when they would have got their period if thery were not pregnant but thats very very rare and by the time they reach their 2nd trimester this stops.
Avatar m tn It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. It is seen that pregnancy only occurs if intercourse occurs within the 6 days prior to and including ovulation. The best timing of intercourse in order to conceive is day 10, 12, 14 and 16 (in case of late ovulation) of a 28 day cycle. However to confirm the status of pregnancy, I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test.
Avatar f tn Hi. Yes occasionally oral Isotretinoin (Accutane) causes menstrual disturbance. Is there any possibility you could be pregnant? Accutane must not be taken in pregnancy due to the risk of malformation. Are you taking the contraceptive pill? In most countries female Accutane patients are required to sign a form stating they will use two forms of contraception during treatment (eg the pill and a condom).
Avatar f tn Yeah its normal to have cramps during the early stage of pregnancy and yes you feel bloated.
Avatar f tn It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. Intercourse just after your menstrual cycle with withdrawal method and taking post coital pills after that will not cause pregnancy. One of the reasons for causing such spotting is of an early upcoming period.

Avatar n tn wait to see if you miss your next menstrual cycle and then take a pregnancy test. anytime you have unexplained bleeding that is not your regular menstrual cycle there is a chance of pregnancy.
Avatar m tn Yes, there is a chance you could be pregnant if you had unprotected sex. Not all women ovulate in the middle of their cycles. If you don't want an unplanned pregnancy you need to use protection every single time you have sex no matter what day it is in your cycle.
Avatar m tn Are you saying you two had sex on the 9th, or her cycle was due on the 9th. There's a few things that would make pregnancy difficult in this situation, the first being that 5 days before a female's cycle she's generally not fertile as well as she would have a very short luteal phase. Most women need one of at least 10+ days. As for seeing anything, no you wouldn't. It's far too early. Typically nothing is seen on an ultrasound until a female is 5-6 weeks pregnant.
Avatar f tn t be your fertile day so it may not have caused a pregnancy. However, the menstrual cycle is unpredictable, so the pull out method is not always effective since it MAY introduce a small amount of ejaculate in the vagina. Chances are, however, that you aren't pregnant and the symptoms you describe are common to BC pills too.

1746744 tn?1311536352 Let’s start with the basics; to become pregnant the male partner’s sperm must fertilize the female’s egg. The woman’s egg is usually released from the ovary on around the 14th day of the menstrual cycle. A woman's monthly cycle is measured from the first day of her menstrual period until the first day of her next period. The release of the egg is called ovulation, which is the fertile time of the cycle. Having intercourse during this time should result in a pregnancy.
