Avatar f tn I do have mastrual bleeding every moths but sometimes its 5 days earlier than due date and some times 2 to 4 days earlier, due to which it is hard to calculatemy ovulation day.can anyone tell if my period cycle is regular or irregular ???
Avatar n tn You count the length of your cycle from the first day of your last period to the first day of your next period. The length of your mentration does not calculate. Once you know the average length of your cycle, you can find out when you are supposed to O.

Avatar f tn The last day of your cycle is the day before your next menstrual period starts. The average cycle length is considered 28 days, but many women have longer or shorter cycles and it's fine. The average women ovulates approximately 14 days before the start of her period, but again, that is certainly not carved in stone. The time between your ovulation and period is referred to as a luteal phase. Hope that helps.
Avatar m tn Thanks louieforlaughs that was really helpful. MJREY i appreciate your effort.
Avatar f tn My cycle is usually every 30 to 34 days with my period lasting about 7 days. My last period ended April 27th. Can someone please tell me when my ovulation occurs and when I am highly fertile. Thanks!
Avatar n tn There are many things that can change a cycle late ovulation, usually caused by stress, change of diet, many things.your cycle is still in normal range.but yes i can see how it effects you trying to concieve.have you tried vitamin B6 this is good for getting your cycle on track,as for trying for 6 months with no success.that is a short time really.can take couples years to concieve.however since your cycle is a bit wacky,i would concentrate on getting that regular first.
712964 tn?1287076618 In general (textbook) based on a 28 day menstrual cycle you will ovulate about the 14th day...then you should get your period 14 days later. The egg survives for about 12 to 24 hours . So it's within this time that the sperm has to meet egg. Your fertility window is about 2 to 3 days before you ovulate. So you could essentially have intercourse two days before you ovulate and get pregnant. Sperm lives for about 48 to 72 hours.
Avatar n tn You can ovulate without having had a period- yes! The reason being that ovulation determines your next menstrual cycle. Here's a great, easy-to-read article by our own resident OBGYN here at MedHelp: http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Pregnancy/Menstrual-Cycle-EXPLAINED-by-a-doc/show/515?
Avatar n tn Based on a 28 day menstrual cycle, you should start testing using the Ovulation kit 5 days out from your likely ovulation date which is Day 14 of your menstrual cycle. Therefore you should start testing on Day 7 of your menstrual cycle. You should test every day from Day 7 at the same time of the day to ensure the most accurate results.
Avatar f tn s potentially fertile days have been based on two assumptions—that ovulation occurs 14 days before the next menses and that women are fertile for several days before and after ovulation.15 It follows that in the usual menstrual cycle lasting 28 days, the fertile days would fall between days 10 and 17.15 The assumptions are, however, outdated. Firstly, only a small percentage of women ovulate exactly 14 days before the onset of menses.
Avatar f tn (Count the first day of your menstrual period as the first day of your cycle). The luteal phase is almost always exactly 14 days. It actually sounds like your cycles are pretty normal. Good luck!
Avatar f tn The menstrual period always occurs exactly 14 days after ovulation. The number of days BEFORE ovulation can vary a lot, but the number of days afterwards is always the same. If you were my patient, I would ask about your cycles. If they are consistently 24-28 days long, with 5-6 day menstrual periods, I would suspect that you are indeed ovulating. I would probably do an FSH level on cycle day 3. (Cycle day 1 is the first day of the menstrual period).
Avatar m tn It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. Intercourse on the third day of menstrual cycle will not result in pregnancy. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn Most people with regular 28-30day cycles ovulate between days 10-16, but usually day 14 for the majority. Start testing 10 days after the first day your last menstrual cycle and test the same time each day. It's better not to use the first morning sample, unlike pregnancy tests. One you see the test is positive, you'll be ovulating within 24-48 hours, so those days are your best chances to conceive.
2105544 tn?1362541961 One way to determine the ovulation day is to use ovulation predictors which are similar to home pregnancy tests and can usually be found in the same Isle at the drug store. Also, we have a menstrual cycle tracker and an ovulation tracker right on this site that can help too! Check out http://www.medhelp.org/user_trackers/list/603463 for a list of trackers to add! Good luck!
20922415 tn?1661860103 A short luteal phase of less than 10 days is an indication of insufficient progesterone levels. This often results in cycle disorders and a desired pregnancy is difficult to achieve or does not occur at all. Furthermore, low progesterone levels increase the risk of miscarriage in early pregnancy. Experts, therefore, recommend that in these cases progesterone should be given to support the pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Because the sperm can live in the body from 3-5 days, pregnancy can occur from having intercourse DURING your period. Estimated ovulation occurs anyhwere between 11-21 days following your menstrual cycle, or 12-16 from when you expect your next cycle. However there is no one way to pin point ovulation. It generally differs from woman to woman. All the best.
Avatar n tn I am 28 years old. I have never seen a menstrual cycle. When I was 18 years old I was put on premarin. A couple of months later I saw what I thought was my period for like 3 days, after that never saw it again. I haven't benn to a doctor ever again. Am I damaged goods? What should I do?
Avatar n tn Even if you were tracking your ovulation by charting your CM and your BBT and menstrual cycle religiously, there is still room for error as well as random hormonal shifts that can and do happen without warning and can lead to an unwanted pregnancy if you're not using protection. Condoms are cheap and very easy to get and to use. There is literally no excuse to not use them at minimum to protect against unwanted pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I am a 31 year old woman who stopped using the birth control pill about six months ago (after being on it regularly for 8 years). My husband and I are trying to conceive & for the last three months my menstrual cycles have been approx. 35-37 days long. I've read that anything over 35 days can indicate problems with ovulation. Is this true? Given that I was on the pill for so long, does it take time for my cycle to normalize?
Avatar f tn What is a "normal" menstrual cycle? I am 28 years old, and trying to conceive for a few months, and I'm wondering if things are normal. My cycles are about 36-37 days long, and I seem to ovulate (I'm guessing ovulation based on cervical mucus alone) about 24 days into my cycle. Does this sound normal?
