7826013 tn?1394702329 HI, Ovulation usually takes place at mid-cycle, usually around the 14th day in a 28 day cycle. Fertile days can be calculated from the first day of menses which is taken as the first day of the menstrual cycle and counted till the next menses. You can also use the ovulation calendar or ovulation detection kits. However this is not a very safe method if you want to prevent a pregnancy. It is better to use some form of contraception. The answer is based on information provided.

Avatar f tn Rule of thumb is, if you're regularly having sex mid-cycle of your menstrual cycle (14 days after the beginning of your period) and you don't get pregnant after 6 months you have fertility issues. These could be your fertility issues, his, or both. If you've been having sex every month at mid-cycle, it's time to see an OBGYN about your fertility difficulty.

1746744 tn?1311536352 Let’s start with the basics; to become pregnant the male partner’s sperm must fertilize the female’s egg. The woman’s egg is usually released from the ovary on around the 14th day of the menstrual cycle. A woman's monthly cycle is measured from the first day of her menstrual period until the first day of her next period. The release of the egg is called ovulation, which is the fertile time of the cycle. Having intercourse during this time should result in a pregnancy.

Avatar f tn Pregnancy occurs only during the time of ovulation which usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. It is seen that pregnancy only occurs if intercourse occurs within the 6 days prior to and including ovulation. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.

Avatar n tn The FIRST RESPONSE® Fertility Test for Women detects FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), on Day 3 of a woman’s menstrual cycle in order to assess her ovarian reserve, an indicator of fertility. Women who want to assess their ability to conceive may find the results of this test useful. The test must be done on Day 3 of your cycle. Count the first day of bleeding or spotting as Day 1 of your cycle. A small amount of blood in your urine from your period should not affect the results in any way.
Avatar n tn The first month (May 2009) that I used the fertility monitor I got pregnant after showing two peak fertility days. Unfortunately I miscarried unexpectantly at 12 weeks. We are now trying again to get pregnant. I got my period exactly one month after my D&C and I've had two menstrual cyles since. This cycle (Sept. 09) my fertility monitor has shown no low fertility days only high fertility since my period ended.
Avatar n tn do you have to have a menstrual to concieve or is that what the injections do for you without the bleeding? Sorry to sound so dumb but as i have seen its easier to ask people who are going through this. I have been prescribed hcg and menopur. My problem is that i almost never have my period. any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I am a forty year-old woman and I have experienced a cessation in my menstrual cycle. Intercourse is very painful, even though I am using Replens. I am still very susceptible to urinary track infections too. My doctor suggested Lubrin, but I have been unable to find Replens or Lubrin in stores around my area. I have no children, but I always thought I might have them. What are my chances that my menstrual cycle might come back?
Avatar f tn I've been off the pill for 3 months after 9 years of taking it (I'm 34 years old). My first menstrual cycle was 40 days, then 33 the next month, then 34 the next--much longer than I'm used to. So here are my questions: Does this mean I ovulate later than if I had, say a 28 day cycle? I'm using a fertility monitor that said I was most fertile on day 13 but this seems wrong considering the long cycle. If I am ovulating later, will this hurt my chances of getting pregnant?
Avatar n tn Most people with regular 28-30day cycles ovulate between days 10-16, but usually day 14 for the majority. Start testing 10 days after the first day your last menstrual cycle and test the same time each day. It's better not to use the first morning sample, unlike pregnancy tests. One you see the test is positive, you'll be ovulating within 24-48 hours, so those days are your best chances to conceive.
Avatar f tn hi, and thanks for your comment.Iam currently taking prenatal vitamins.folic acid and fertilaid daily. As I posted earlier Irecently miscarried on 2/17/09.I was 6 weeks into the pregnancy. The pregnancy was diagnosed as a blighted ovum.I had a d&c on 2/19/09 ,my menstrual cycle just came on 3/21/09.I'm 38 years old and are desperately trying to have a baby.
Avatar f tn s potentially fertile days have been based on two assumptions—that ovulation occurs 14 days before the next menses and that women are fertile for several days before and after ovulation.15 It follows that in the usual menstrual cycle lasting 28 days, the fertile days would fall between days 10 and 17.15 The assumptions are, however, outdated. Firstly, only a small percentage of women ovulate exactly 14 days before the onset of menses.
