Most women do make the mistake of counting the last day of their period as the first day of their cycle, but actually the first day of the period is cycle day one. Typically ovulation occurs sometime around
cycle day 11-16. The
menstrual period is always 14 days after ovulation--if it occurs.
For couples trying to conceive, we recommend testing for ovulation with ovulation predictors starting on cycle day 10 or 11, and then test until positive.
