Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual cycle and breastfeeding

menstrual-cycle

Avatar n tn A menstrual cycle starts with ovulating then your period so your menstrual cycle can start at any time generally if you are breastfeeding it comes 2 to 6 months after giving birth. So what I would recommend is have sex as much as possible because you have a 3 day period to get pregnant. And if you want to get pregnant as soon as possible try to get pregnant on your first menstrual cycle.
1293529 tn?1325184540 I was wondering if any of you stopped breastfeeding and now your menstural cycle is all over the place? I have had 3 full periods with the last 30 days, it is crazy. I only go a couple days with no period then start bleeding again. I was and still am taking the mini pill. Not sure what is going on with me. Anyone experiance something similiar?
Avatar m tn m currently in the process of a miscarriage and still breastfeeding my little one. I was wondering if my breastfeeding along with my miscarriage would affect my menstrual cycle? Has anyone here has a miscarriage and are still breastfeeding yet have a normal menstrual period? How long did it took for your period to come back?
3166367 tn?1343912934 If so pls pls go to an ER and let them know this... I ignored it for 2 months ( my cycle was coming every 2 weeks) and after that I went to the ER. They did an unltrasound and discovered a tumor ( I myself had been trying to conceive as well) Well that tumor turned out to be an Immature Teretoma. grade 3 stage 3.. a very rare form of ovarian cancer. I have had surgery to remove it and Im now going to a fertilty clinic to preserve before I start chemo...
1414894 tn?1288769040 The body produces progesterone at certain times of the menstrual cycle, causing the womb lining to flourish. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the womb lining by the end of the monthly menstrual cycle, the levels of progesterone in the body decrease. This causes the body to shed the womb lining (a menstrual ‘period’). If a fertilized egg successfully attaches to the womb lining by the end of the monthly cycle, progesterone levels in the body remain high.
Avatar f tn It may be nature’s way of cleaning the body of any dead cells and tissues after a menstrual cycle. Sexually transmitted infections, chlamydia, genital warts and gonorrhea are other causes of such vaginal discharge. Cervical cancer, polyps are few other causes. If the brown discharge is due to a bacterial infection then you may need antibiotics. Consult a gynecologist. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
484267 tn?1239037973 I was diagnosed with post partum thyroiditis in January (in the hyper phase) and in May "normal" range, but still haven't had a menstrual cycle to speak of since having my baby in September. I am not breastfeeding so the endo said in March that I should be getting them back, but have not. I have been taking many pregnancy tests as well just to be sure, but they were all negative.
Avatar f tn I stopped breastfeeding my third son, in early December 2013.. It is now 1/21/14... I haven't had a menstrual cycle since August 2011, before I became pregnant with him.. Now, I am wondering, (I have forgotten these things, from the first 2 babies) how long will it take my body to realize, that I am no longer breastfeeding and to remember about menstrual cycles..
1147609 tn?1263583431 My menstrual cycle was 25 days two months ago and 23 days this cycle. Now here's the background: I've always have perfect 28-day cycles. I could even judge with quite a bit of accuracy whether they would begin in the morning or in the evening. After a second trimester miscarriage three years ago, they went back to normal in two cycles. After the birth of my son (and while breastfeeding) they went back to normal in two months.
Avatar f tn I am on the birth control micronor and i am still breastfeeding my 13 month old son, I have not gotten my periods back yet. My doctor is running a pregnancy test, but i have not had sex! Is this normal? thanks for any information!
Avatar f tn Hi ladies . I had my daughter exactly 7 weeks ago & I'm exclusively breastfeeding . Today I started spotting & this is the second time it's happened . Is this normal ? I'm not having any cramping or anything so I'm thinking its not my period because I've always suffered horrible menstrual cramps .. Any help ?
Avatar f tn Correct you do bleed right after birth for a couple weeks but that is not your menstrual cycle or what I'm referring too.
1448937 tn?1284742036 The bleeding that started a couple of weeks after that is probably your cycle returning. Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding. If you are breastfeeding then the hormones related to that often stop your menstrual cycle returning for a few months. When did you start taking birth control pills and what sort were they? If it's the mini pill then you can often get breakthrough bleeding.
20922415 tn?1661860103 It is the main and vital hormone that plays a significant role in menstrual cycle health preparing the body for conception and development of pregnancy. 1. Progesterone throughout the cycle: During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones (follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH] and luteinizing hormone [LH]) that cause a new egg to mature and be released from its ovarian follicle each month.
Avatar f tn Totally safe. Actually decreases your risk of cancer later in life. It also helps your uterus contract after delivery, lessen your bleeding time, and can delay the return of your menstrual cycle (though you can still be VERY fertile - don't believe the old stories that you can't get pregnant while breastfeeding). It helps to regulate your hormones and cam decrease the likelihood of postpartum depression. Breastfeeding is the best choice you can make for yourself and your baby.
Avatar n tn re breastfeeding now that may affect your menstrual cycle; many women experience irregular periods and missing periods while they breastfeed. Otherwise, there are various reasons why you might be experiencing a late period, for example: stress or anxiety can have an effect on menstrual cycles, extreme changes in diet and exercise, medication can delay periods, birth control, and any recent illness, etc...
Avatar f tn This normal fluid is usually clear or milky white and does not have an unpleasant odor. The normal vaginal discharge is thicker at specific times of the menstrual cycle (at the time of ovulation), during breastfeeding, or during sexual arousal. An increase in the amount of vaginal discharge, an abnormal odor or consistency of the fluid, or pain, itching, or burning that accompanies vaginal discharge can all be signs of infection or other more serious disorders.
Avatar n tn hi! i'm 31 years old and had my first menstrual cycle after having had my daughter twenty months ago begin about 17 days ago (so cycle day 1 was 17 days ago - my period ended about 9 days later). anyhow, for the past two days, i've been having bright red bleeding, about the size of a quarter that requires a liner. is this something i ought to be concerned about?
Avatar f tn I had my son April 14th and finished my post pregnancy bleeding at 3 weeks. I got a regular menstrual cycle on May 15th. My husband and I have been having fequent unprotected intercourse. I am breast feeding and I know that could delay your mentrual cycle but I already returned to a normal cycle. I began feeling early pregnancy signs including morning sickness. So I took 4 tests in a two week period and they were all negative. Could breast feeding cause false negatives?
736040 tn?1257436457 Unfrotunatley about a month or so after my recheck I stopped having my menstrual cycle again. he did a recheck on my levels and they were great! To date i have not had a menstrual cycle for a good 3-4 months. My question is...if my thyroid levels are good, then why wouldnt my menstrual cycle be normal?
1582332 tn?1296924865 Yes, the last few years, My doc told me its due to having Chiari and being around the 50 age range (I'm now 53 and cramps have lessened and so has pain), I still have cycle. I'm tested and my hormones read OK, no change of life yet. Everything is more sensitive, even my teeth and bite. My neck feels suffocated, headache comes and either left or right side of head and neck is intolerable. Being on an acid-free diet has helped me alot (read dropping acid).
Avatar n tn THE ONLY EXCEPTION WAS WHEN I WAS ON MY MENSTURAL CYCLE AND AGAIN I WOULD HAVE EXPLOSIVE DIARREAH (NOTICED A LITTLE BIT OF BLOOD). NOW I AM BACK TO THE PAINFUL DIARREAH, SOMETIMES IT HURTS TO SIT DOWN. i HAVE NO APPETTIE, IF I EAT EVEN A SMALL AMOUNT MY STOMACH HURTS AND FEELS FULL. IT SEEMS LIKE ITS A CONSTANT DULL ACHE OR CRAMPY FEELING THAT FLARES EVERY SO OFTEN. WITHIN THE LAST WEEK THE SUN HAS COME OUT AND ITS BEEN HOT AND I HAVE FELT WORSE AND SICK SINCE THE TEMPERATRE WARMED UP.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 22, and i am confused about my period. The last one came on the 6th september and till now i haven't seen the next one, and its the 12th of october already and it still hasn't come. Although i had protected sex on the 18th september and another protected one on the 1st october and another on the 4th october, but unprotected. During these periods, i had an ulcer crisis and i was on lansoprazole and amoxillin, tagamet, pcm for about 8 days.
Avatar f tn A woman with a light period is not gaining much thickness in her endometrial lining during the early part of the menstrual cycle. This is usually an indication that estrogen levels are lower than normal. If estrogen levels are low, progesterone levels are likely to also be low and a woman may or may not ovulate with her cycles.
Avatar f tn No i havn't taken a pregnancy test i was thinking i should but i've read implantation only last's a couple days and i've had this for aleast four days darkish and lightish. I've been on it for about 2 years now and never had anything like this and i've missed some pills in the past and still never had a weird cycle.
