Avatar n tn What are the chances of conceiving after removal of one ovary due to ovarian cyst?
2124621 tn?1335156599 Ovulation is the release of a single, mature egg from a follicle that developed in the ovary. It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. The best timing of intercourse in order to conceive is day 10, 12, 14 and 16 (in case of late ovulation) of a 28 day cycle. After intercourse, do not wash immediately and keep on lying for some time. You can also keep a pillow under your buttocks.
254714 tn?1316613355 sometimes that involves a day surgery with laparoscopy and just removal of the cysts or one of the ovaries. Sometimes,it is worth considering the full removal of the uterus and ovaries and fallopian tubes.
Avatar f tn Hello, Fertility returns soon after removal of an IUD. Hence you can get pregnant after an IUD removal. Pregnancy occurs only during the time of ovulation. Ovulation is the release of a single, mature egg from a follicle that developed in the ovary. It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. So try having unprotected intercourse at that time.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I recently had laparoscopy done on May 7 to drain cysts on both ovaries. I began what I assume is my normal menstrual cycle yesterday (it's 3 days earlier than last month, so right around the same time) and I am wondering for those that have had the same procedure, what the first cycle post surgery was like? I am having horrible pain in the left ovary, which was always my most troublesome one. It is not so much a cramping pain, but a sharp pain.
Avatar f tn These ovarian cysts which start during the normal function of menstrual cycle are called functional cysts which are of two types follicular cyst and corpus luteal cyst. Most of these cysts are harmless and disappear over a period of time. They are usually asymptomatic. In few patients cysts may cause menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain. In such cases medical help should be sought. Large cysts need surgical removal .
Avatar n tn Have you been to the surgeon for a follow up appt? Are these pains menstrual cramping pains? If so, the removal of cysts won't change that I don't think. Otherwise, you need to speak to your Dr.
Avatar n tn Hi , Your answers are most needful! Please help me !!! At the age of 27 years, right tube and ' piece ' of right ovary are removed as part of fluid cyst removal. This was operated manually. Now again after 7yrs,at the age of 34 years, had left ovary ,left tube and endometriosis removed , week ago, using laparoscopy ! My concerns are : Any hope for fertility chances to become mother as I don't have kids till now ? What about menstual cycle occurrence?
Avatar m tn It may function normally for years, sub-optimally for years or it could shut down completely at any time. Ovary removal and post-hysterectomy ovarian failure is associated with a number of age related conditions such as heart disease, osteoporosis, dementia, Parkinson's, memory and cognitive impairment, lung cancer, vision changes, hair and skin changes, sexual dysfunction. Estrogen may help with symptoms and may mitigate some of the risks.
Avatar n tn I had my left ovary removed in May of this year. Couple of months i have been okay, but mostly i just cry for no reason. No energy just a tired blob. My boyfriend doesn't understand...hard to explain to men.. I wanted to try the natural effect with evening primrose oil. But i dont think it is helping. I think having that procedure puts you into pre menopausal.
663380 tn?1225079707 ve been in constant pain on my right side. After about a year of digging the cause was cysts on my right ovary. Alas I was put on birth control pills which did help for a while. I stopped taking the birth control about 8 months ago (it stopped working). My menstrual cycle was normal. 7 days of heavy bleeding and cramps. The last two months have been horrible. I first noticed my period was different. In Septemeber I had it for 2 days and this month it lasted 5 hours.
Avatar m tn I am 19 years old and had my left ovary removed in August due to cysts. After the procedure I menstruated continuously for about a month. Now my cycles are normal as I am on contraceptive pills which helps regulate it. I used to have pretty normal bleeding with minimal, almost no pain. Although now during menstrual cycles I experience heavy bleeding accompanied with extreme pain that sometimes almost feel unbearable. I used to be quite fit, exercising twice a day almost everyday.
Avatar f tn I was on birth control pill before the surgery, and am not now because I had a tubaligation done at the same time as the cyst removal. No sex yet after surgery so no chance I am preggo. My period should be a week from now assuming the bleeding for a week after surgery was my period. (It was due Tuesday after my surgery on Friday so I assume it was the period.) I have never had breast pain like this and it scares me on top of being so painful. Could it just be my hormones are wonky?
Avatar f tn It has been hurting during intercourse and usually during my menstrual cycle or ovulation or even for no reason. After seeing two gynos, I have made the decision to operate, complication here is that the cyst is in the center of the ovary with potential increased risk of damage to the ovary. Has anyone out there been through this?? I am planning the surgery before the end of the year....am I making the right decision?
Avatar f tn Of course when the mass is as large as a watermelon, it destroys the ovary. I would certainly get a second opinion. If removal of the ovary is necessary, understand that the remaining ovary takes over for the one removed. That is, the remaining ovary functions for both ovaries in regard to hormones and ovulation. So in the removal of just one ovary, the body does not really "notice" the difference. Did they comment at all about the mass as to what characteristics it has.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn There are cases of enodmetriosis that I have seen who end up pneumothorax on the first day of their menstrual cycle.
Avatar f tn I am sorry for your troubles. The removal of one ovary can disrupt the menstrual cycle. Sometimes the other ovary does not take over and actually gets "confused." This may very well be only temporary. So hopefully, your remaining ovary will get the message and take over for the missing one! Please keep us posted as your situation may help someone else.
Avatar n tn Hi There, one simple way to know if cysts are functional - that is- related to the ovarian - menstrual cycle is to wait a cycle or two and rescan. Cysts that are related to ovulation will be gone and be replaced by new cysts with the new cycle. A persistent or growing cyst may be a tumor benign or malignant. Ca 125 is not a screen for cancer. The result just tells us that this cyst or tumor does not produce the CA 125 protein. I am assuming that tha 4.5 cm, 2.8 cm, 3.3 cm and 4.
Avatar f tn If this cyst continues to grow and has to be removed, do your health (and fertility) a BIG favor and seek out a surgeon who says he/she can remove just the cyst (cystectomy) and save your ovary or at least enough of it to regenerate and continue functioning normally. The removal of even one ovary can short-circuit the whole system. If your menstrual cycle has returned to normal then that hopefully means that your other ovary has taken over for the one that was removed.
1187318 tn?1266384482 beginning with cyst removal, 2nd was bilateral ovary removal after frozen biopsy in surgery(dec 09), and the 3rd was staging, removal of fallopian tubes, omentum, and appendix (feb 2010). I ended up with positive wasings twice & do have one non-invasive implant on my bladder. I do however, still have my uterus. I was diagnosed with stage II borderline micropapillary serous neoplasm (I belive, that's the complete name) Is it possible to confuse fluid with soft tissue on a CT scan.
Avatar f tn If you continue to miss periods, for more than 3 months or more in between, you may need to have some hormoen levels checked. You may have a form of polycystic ovary disease and you may need to check with your provider for some medications to help regulate your periods. Hope this helps! Dr B!
2011481 tn?1374262667 My bleeding has seemed to stop, i believe that it was just my first actual period after the IUD removal. As of right now, me and my husband are trying to concieve!! thanks again!
Avatar n tn After the removal of an ovary it can take several months for your other ovary to take over. Your periods may be erratic. I had the opposite - way too many periods in that time but after 3 months all got back to normal. You should still check out pregnancy.
Avatar f tn The results of the first sugery they found a cyst 4cm growing off my ovary to the webbing of my fallopian tubes and Dr surgically removed it. The result of the 2nd surgery a band of scar tissue was squeezing my ovary the Dr cut the band and also had my appendix removed as well. Since both surgerys my sypmtoms have not changed which are and have been since the pain first started.
Avatar f tn If you only have the ovaries removed and not your uterus, you won't get periods anymore. It's the ovaries that send out the hormones that control the entire menstrual cycle each month, and your uterus won't be lining anymore to prepare for a pregnancy, therefore no period. You will go into an early menopause and your hormone levels will change. When you see your doctor before the surgery, you need to find out about hormone replacement therapy or HRT for short.
1582332 tn?1296924865 I just turned 41 and have also been wondering if I am entering early menopause because of my health issues and all of the medications. All the doctors act like it is normal. I have a period and then 10 days later another. The cramps and headaches are awful. then I won't have a period for 45 days. I cant figure it out but I too wonder if it is all related. Mine has been going on for over a year.
Avatar f tn But in other cases, it takes some time for the menstrual cycle to regulate after gyn surgery especially after having an ovary removed. You may still end up having some irregularity even though you're now on schedule.
