Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual cycle after pregnancy breastfeeding

menstrual-cycle

20922415 tn?1661860103 It is the main and vital hormone that plays a significant role in menstrual cycle health preparing the body for conception and development of pregnancy. 1. Progesterone throughout the cycle: During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones (follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH] and luteinizing hormone [LH]) that cause a new egg to mature and be released from its ovarian follicle each month.
1414894 tn?1288769040 The body produces progesterone at certain times of the menstrual cycle, causing the womb lining to flourish. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the womb lining by the end of the monthly menstrual cycle, the levels of progesterone in the body decrease. This causes the body to shed the womb lining (a menstrual ‘period’). If a fertilized egg successfully attaches to the womb lining by the end of the monthly cycle, progesterone levels in the body remain high.
Avatar f tn I stopped breastfeeding my third son, in early December 2013.. It is now 1/21/14... I haven't had a menstrual cycle since August 2011, before I became pregnant with him.. Now, I am wondering, (I have forgotten these things, from the first 2 babies) how long will it take my body to realize, that I am no longer breastfeeding and to remember about menstrual cycles..
Avatar f tn s hard to tell when you will have your first menstrual cycle. If you are breastfeeding you may not get it for a little while. Also your hormones are completely changing after the birth of your baby. It's going to take your body awhile to adjust again. I believe I got my first period about 6 or 7 weeks after having my DD but that is also when I stopped breastfeeding too. Good luck and congratulations.
Avatar n tn does the body produces ovum during pregnancy?why there is no monthly cycle during pregnancy?and is that the bleeding soon after delivery for a round 10-30days is related to menstruation?and what happens for menstruation while breast feeding?and if there's no production of egg during breast feed then why some people concieve during that peroid?please explain these things to me.
Avatar n tn A menstrual cycle starts with ovulating then your period so your menstrual cycle can start at any time generally if you are breastfeeding it comes 2 to 6 months after giving birth. So what I would recommend is have sex as much as possible because you have a 3 day period to get pregnant. And if you want to get pregnant as soon as possible try to get pregnant on your first menstrual cycle.
1147609 tn?1263583431 My menstrual cycle was 25 days two months ago and 23 days this cycle. Now here's the background: I've always have perfect 28-day cycles. I could even judge with quite a bit of accuracy whether they would begin in the morning or in the evening. After a second trimester miscarriage three years ago, they went back to normal in two cycles. After the birth of my son (and while breastfeeding) they went back to normal in two months.
Avatar m tn m currently in the process of a miscarriage and still breastfeeding my little one. I was wondering if my breastfeeding along with my miscarriage would affect my menstrual cycle? Has anyone here has a miscarriage and are still breastfeeding yet have a normal menstrual period? How long did it took for your period to come back?
Avatar f tn I had my son April 14th and finished my post pregnancy bleeding at 3 weeks. I got a regular menstrual cycle on May 15th. My husband and I have been having fequent unprotected intercourse. I am breast feeding and I know that could delay your mentrual cycle but I already returned to a normal cycle. I began feeling early pregnancy signs including morning sickness. So I took 4 tests in a two week period and they were all negative. Could breast feeding cause false negatives?
Avatar f tn I'm in the process of receiving AI. My mentrual cycle is 28 days, however after my first AI Procedure I've had a second cycle in the same month! (Full blown bleeding). Going forward, which cycle do I now calculate from, the first one, or this second one? And it obviously now means, I've lost the "egg" and didn't "take"...? Is it necessary to still do a pregnancy test?
Avatar n tn I have not had my menstrual cycle since that surgery in which I lost my left fallopian tube. My husband and I have been trying to have another baby with no success yet. We actually went out and bought the ovulation tests and they always come back showing that I am not ovulating. I was wondering if this means I cannot have any more children or if it is going to be difficult? Should I be looking into fertility drugs?
Avatar f tn Okay. Well, in all honesty, I would suspect just a wonky period rather than pregnancy at this point. Conceiving naturally past 40 goes down each year that goes by. I would see if a period starts in the next two weeks or if you get a period when you'd ordinarily have expected it based on your regular cycle. If there is an issue after that time, I'd consult your doctor. Lots of things can delay a period from stress, to changes in routine, hormonal issues, slow thyroid, etc.
Avatar m tn Jan 27th i done with ectopic pregnancy open surgery after 1 month on feb 27th i got cycle but this month i didn't get cycle give me brief explanation plz
Avatar f tn I had to keep getting my blood treated every week after because to see if my pregnancy hormones went away. Every since then i have been having irregular cycles. Now in 2013, it has been 3 or 4 months since I had my period. When I went to my doctors appointment last week they ran a pregnancy test and it came out to be negative. But this past week I have been spotting and when I take a shower small little blood clots come out. So I'm wondering what is wrong with me?????
5891248 tn?1406410864 I also have cesarean deliveries, expecting my 7th to be exact. I had about 4 weeks of post partum bleeding. I honestly didn't get my first period until I my babies were 9+ weeks, my last 3 I actually didn't get my first menstrual cycle until after my babies were 6 months or older. Although I exclusively breastfed. Every woman and delivery are different though!
Avatar f tn your menstrual cycle just changed and thats not normal. i have a friend who havent had her period 6months straight. and she is healthy. so no worries for you. your are IRREGULAR when it comes to your period. unlike me, im regular, never skipped a month. regardless of giving birth. the cramps thing, just excercise or do sit ups 2weeks or a week before tour period. if you dont know when your period will arrive, just do brisk walking or cardio excercises. :D hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Bled for 2 weeks after birth and started normal menstrual cycle 4 weeks later. Id get a preg test just to be sure.
Avatar m tn It is always possible to become pregnant when a condom breaks. On a side note, if your daughter is only 4 months old, your menstrual cycle may not even be back to normal at this early stage of postpartum. It can take many months for your hormones to return to "normal" and you to ovulate normally. If you are breastfeeding, this will also add to the complication of you ovulating regularly and it will be more likely that you are NOT pregnant. But this is not the rule for everyone.
Avatar m tn I am not sure if I am addressing your question but in regards to a menstrual cycle it varies with each woman. If you are breastfeeding it is usually between 6 months to a year, of you are not it usually returns after 2-3 months, but some women can take a lot longer for there cycle to return. If you are worried something is wrong you should see a doctor, but I think from what you are saying everything is normal.
Avatar n tn I am on day 38 of my menstrual cycle. I normally go between 26-28 days on my cycles. I have taken 2 pregnancy test with a negative result. I have NEVER missed a period without being pregnant ( 2 pregnancies). I have been taking Lexapro for the past year. I have stopped cold turkey due to was not sure if I was pregnant. My concern is not having a period with a negative result on a pregnancy test. I have been feeling dizzy, small cramps, tired, and moody. I am so confused. Anyone have any input?
1344131 tn?1276293185 was extremely worried. when the doctors do a pregnancy test does it matter how far along u r as to wether a positive pregnancy result wud show up? sorry for all the questions.
Avatar f tn Correct you do bleed right after birth for a couple weeks but that is not your menstrual cycle or what I'm referring too.
