Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual cycle after menopause

menstrual-cycle

Avatar n tn This may indicate menopause if you are in the age group and if this is so, then any bleeding after menopause is ominous. If you are younger then there could be hormonal or other causes and the type of bleeding will be accordingly. The bleeding may be heavy if there is endometrial hyperplasia. Consult a gynaecologist for an examination. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I am in the midst of menopause. I went about 6 months without a cycle but now am in the 5th week of a menstrual cycle. I am TIRED of it and ready for it to end but no end in sight!!! Anything I can do or just tough it out knowing the end is near?? I am taking vitamins and trying to eat right but not really exercising, just don't really feel like it.
Avatar f tn DOES MACROBID CAUSE BLEEDING OR MAKE YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE COME EARLY. I JUST FINISHED MACROBID 7 DAY TREATMENT. MY MENSTRUAL CAME 3 DAYS EARLY AND THERE IS BRIGHT RED BLOOD AND USUALLY MY MENSTRUAL BLOOD IS NOT THAT BRIGHT. I INITIIALLY WASNT DUE FOR MY MENSTRUAL UNTIL YESTERDAY I'VE BEEN BLEEDING SINCE THE 3RD AND IM STILL BLEEDING BUT NOT ALOT LIKE I WAS YESTERDAY AND THE DAYS BEFORE BUT THE BLEEDING HAS LIGHTENED.
Avatar f tn It is very difficult to know whether a menstrual cycle will return after chemotherapy. In general, the closer a woman is to her natural menopause, the more likely that chemotherapy will induce menopause. We always caution women not to assume that no menstruation means no fertility. You never know when or if menstruation may return and becoming pregnant while on chemotherapy (herceptin) would not be recommended.
570004 tn?1226980196 Over the past several months (since about July – a month or two after I started on levothyroxine) I've noticed that my menstrual cycle is about a week shorter than it used to be. It was about 36 days before, but now it seems to be about 28 days at most - if anything it's getting shorter; not going back to the way it was before. Does anyone know if this is normal / related to hypothyroidism? I am 31 years old. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I have not had a menstrual cycle for 15 months. I thought I was done. I had my yearly pap and all was well just last month. Now at 49 I began to have a cycle. Just like I use to. I was always told that after one year of no cycles you would not have any more and if you did it meant something was wrong. What should I do?
1142551 tn?1264736930 I was curious if it was related to the MS that I miss a menstrual cycle during flare ups. Sometimes even 2! I am not sexually active so pregnancy wouldn't be the cause. Also sorry I just seem to post my questions and just that without any history of myself and my illness. I promise I will get to that once Im feeling better. But Thanks to everyone that has welcomed me on this forum.
Avatar m tn Many women have a periods after menopause especially after stress. If an ultrasound showed everything is fine I would not worry. Calling your Gynecologist is a good idea. If you were throwing up all the time with weight loss I would worry.
Avatar f tn Okay, on Feb 17 I was put on a hormone replacement treatment for 10 days,so I finished it February 24. Well, my doctor said I would have a menstrual cycle No more then two weeks after taking the medicine. I saw a new doctor and she says there are 2 things that stop you from having a menstrual cycle 1 menopause and pregnancy we know it's not menopause cause I'm only 18. So if I have No cycle by Wednesday this week I go for a blood pregnancy test.
Avatar n tn t had a natural period since till last month. I had all the symptoms of a menstrual cycle from the cramping, sore breast, discharge and bleeding for 3 days. I went to my gyne and they did a test by taking a piece of my lining and testing and I was told the results say I am still post menopausal and that it's like my body was remembering what it use to do, but this month I also experienced cramping but nothing else and I keep reading and hearing these are potential cancer symptoms.
Avatar m tn How many periods have you had? It's not uncommon in perimenopause to have a period come out of the blue.
Avatar f tn The pregnancy test was negative. So menstrual cycle just stops just like that? I guess now I can save money by not having to buy pads and tampons.
Avatar f tn The technical definition of menopause is one year after the last menstrual period. However, for different individuals, patterns come in many varieties. While your situation is likely one of the variations of normal, it the spotting keeps up, see your doctor just to be sure there isn't a polyp or other reason for it happening. This will just keep you on the safe side. And it will stop you from worrying. Machelle M.

Dryness of vagina can also be a feature of pre-menopause. Correct indication is however given by your hormonal levels. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Physical or emotional trauma can disrupt the menstrual cycle. So if it had not been for the accident, your periods may not have stopped for that long. Also, in the early post-menopausal years (5 or so), hormones can still fluctuate quite a bit and even cause bleeding that is oftentimes nothing serious. Another thought - some medications can disrupt the menstrual cycle. So if you were on meds due to the accident, that could have thrown everything out of whack.
