It might be early labor. I have read where premature labor can feel like menstrual cramps. It could also be Braxton hicks but Im not sure. If you have more than 4 cramps an hour, you should call your OB ASAP. That is what the OB nurse told me on Friday when I was having contractions showing on the monitor, although I didn't feel them.

Hi ladies, I'm a ftm & I'm currently 39w4d. Today I've been experiencing an ache in my lower back that feels like it does during my period, and it kinda goes around to my hips & stomach. It's not intense or anything, but it has gradually gotten worse. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary to hurt my back or anything. It's not really timeable because it's pretty constant. I'm wondering if this could possibly be a sign of labor or that labor is near?

Hi! Braxton hicks contractions are contractions that do not actually cause dilation of the cervix. Most often they feel like tightening, and a lot of women feel like the baby is curling up in a ball as their stomach is really hard. Menstrual-like cramps could be a sign of very early labor. If you don't know if you are in labor, you are not--true labor is almost always UNMISTAKABLE (unfortunately). Good luck!

I heard that diarrhea is a sign of labor also I was contracting all day long with menstrual cramps every time I contracted but they weren't increasing in pain so I didn't go in. BTW I am 2 cm dilated that I know of and I have lost m plug. My question is do you think I am about to be in labor & how do I treat the hemmeroids?

im 38 w4days im havung menstrual kramps and pelvic pressure all day but not a whole lot of back pain.. im wondering if it could be a sign of labor or is it maybe my body beein tired from having the cold ...???

But they do say menstrual cramps are a sign of labor contractions but my doctor said if its not consistant its most likely false contractions or your bodies way of preparing its self for labor.

Cramps can just be streching, or a sign of labor. If you start feeling contractions regularly, or the cramping gets worse and painful I would call or go in. Otherwise I wouldnt worry too much. But if you really feel like somethings wrong you could call just to be safe!

Hi everyone, I have been having menstrual like cramps during the night ( when I lay down for sleep) and while having long walks. ( when I have them I have so trouble breathing) I also do have this strong back pain when I go for a walk. Are these any sign of pre labour? Maybe Braxton hicks. Drink lots of water. Call your doctor since its been constant. Braxton hicks normally doesn't last that long and could be preterm labor as the other lady said.

You are at a stage where this could be a sign of preterm labor. Call your doctor or nurse line and tell them. If not go to the hospital and they will check you and give you medicine to stop labor if needed.

I'm 34 weeks and having the strongest menstrual type feeling cramps ever. My Lower back is in so much pain. It's almost unbearable. Should I be concerned? Did anybody experience this before labor?

Everyone I talk to just tells me..when you're in labor you will know. I just wish I had some idea because I'm stressing myself out worrying about it. Every time I feel different than normal I question if its a sign.

No, sounds like your body is just getting ready for the big day.

Are the patterned at all? That is the only labor sign i had was very intense patterned cramps. So just be careful not to let it get too bad!! Good luck and sounds like it could be anyday now!!

I've had these their like menstrual cramps, but I've always had.them early on. Gotta be careful cuss it can be early sign of early labor. I've preterm labor twice with my kids, this is why I'm on progesterone shots once a week.
