7634325 tn?1394333404 I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have severe cramps similar to those of menstrual cramps. Is this normal? We tried to have sex and it was hurting even more during. Please help.
Avatar f tn First of all let me say I am deeply sorry for this and I am telling you how sorry I am because I know that people do not really understand what a person with severe menstrual cramps goes through. They see it as "oh...its just your period? well that's a normal part of life" and it is not very nice. I have the same issue as you are outlining and I have had it for years. I am no medical expert so I do not want put any fear in you because each person and their body is different.
421469 tn?1203452328 I am having severe cramps unlike any AF cramps I have ever experienced? Any suggestions? I am 13 dpo.
Avatar n tn These cramps usually begin earlier in the menstrual cycle and last longer than common menstrual cramps.
Avatar n tn *Severe* cramping isn't normal during pregnancg.. I have horrendous menstrual cramps but I've never cramped at all when I'm pregnant. It would be worth calling your dr and seeing if they want you to come in.
Avatar f tn Baby hopes is right, cramping is normal but severe cramps (worse them menstrual) with or without bleeding is something you need to speak to you doctor about. just to be on the safe side!
Avatar f tn m 40 years old, and judging by my older sisters and mother, I likely have another 11-12 years before menopause. Over the last year or two, my menstrual cramps have gotten much worse. I get chills and shakes, aches in my joints, nausea, headache, and massive cramps. I've tried heating pads, lots of fluids, bed rest, Aleve, and other OTC pain relief. I went to see a new midwife for my last annual about 18 mo ago and forgot to mention it to her, then felt embarrassed to call in about it.
Avatar n tn Hi, There's a long list of issues that can cause abdominal cramps without the presence of a menstrual period, for example: a late or irregular period, pregnancy, stress, indigestion or digestive disorders, an illness, or endometriosis, etc...Menstrual cramps are caused by the uterus contracting when it expels it's lining. For many women cramps can happen 3 to 5 days before a period begins, and also during a period.
Avatar f tn I am almost 5 weeks pregnant. I have been having cramps that feel like menstrual cramps. I don't have any spotting or anything but it feels like menstrual cramps.. should I be worried? I'm 18 and this is my first pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Hi I am 5 weeks pregnant and have been having cramps a week and a half now. They haven't been too bad, just feels like my normal menstrual cramps, but last night I woke up with cramps that lasted for about 10-15 minutes and they were so bad I couldn't walk, I felt like I was going to throw up and sweating. I managed to get myself in to the tub and let the shower spay me. There is no blood. But I am scared there might be something wrong. Is this normal?
1395422 tn?1308016251 Risk Factors ***Most things that put you at risk for painful periods are out of your control. You are more likely to have severe menstrual cramps if they run in your family history and/or you had an early puberty (eleven years old or younger). Anatomically (physical make-up of the body) speaking, a backwards tilting of the uterus (a retroverted uterus) and/or a very narrow cervical canal can also play a role. Some things you do have some control over, at least partially.
Avatar n tn Menstrual cramps are normal to have and I get severe menstrual cramps on the first day of my period as well. Typically it is just from hormones that causes the cramping, as the surge will cause contractions, making her period painful. Prevention is much better than management for pain. Exercise and eating healthy can help prevent menstrual cramps to a certain point, but won't always get rid of them.
Avatar f tn That is time to call your doctor but cramps that feel like menstrual cramps or a twinge of pain here and there is common.
Avatar f tn Yes! I had some pretty uncomfortable cramps like menstrual cramps but a little worse and id wake up at night from them. The best thing I found is a warm shower helped. Rocking side to side. Helped me alot. I thought something was wrong too until I went for my first ultrasound and saw bubbys heartbeat! I still get cramps here and their but they are very common.
Avatar f tn Yes, thats normal. If the pain gets severe or is sharp on one side getting worse and/or bleeding, you need to get to a & e. I get the feint cramping too throughout the day but they dont really compare to period pain...i used to get bad period pain, so i use that as my indicator. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn ve woken up in the morning with severe abdominal pain in my right side, almost like menstrual cramps but burning, and a dull ache on the right side of my back. The pain brings me to tears and I need a hot water bottle and two panadols to ease the pain. It's never happened after drinking before, only the two times. Help!
Avatar f tn Has anyone had menstrual like cramping in the third trimester? Could the pain be related to dilating? I have had constant cramps every day this week and so tired of it.
Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced menstrual like cramps early in pregnancy? I am almost 6 weeks and have off and on menstrual like cramps anywhere from my sides to my pelvic area. I had an ovarian cyst rupture recently so I was told the pain in my side came from the fluid left around my ovaries and that it would take care of itself. It has been 11 days since the cyst ruptured but I still occasionally have pain.
2055843 tn?1332427915 Ibuprofen does usually tend to help with these severe cramps, and keep using the heating pads like you have been. If ibuprofen alone doesn't work (it didn't for me) then your doctor will sometimes prescribe a prescription strength painkiller. Also, if you have a primary care doctor or better yet a gynecologist, discuss this issue with them. Sometimes gynecologists will put people on low-dose birth control to alleviate severe dysmenorrhea.
Avatar f tn I started having severe menstrual cramps and heavy bleeding after my second time having a period (at 11 yro). The heavy bleeding was caused by anemia, had to go on iron supplements which immediately helped. For the pain, I had to take birth control pills (though I wasn't sexually active). This helped for about 4 years, then the painful cramps came back but were not so severe. Everyone is different obviously, so I would suggest going to gynecologist.
Avatar f tn My fiancé has problem of severe menstrual cramps during every period. Last time she had delayed periods and heavy bleeding with intensive abdomen pain. I have come to know that the cramps are due to compressions in uterus to force blood to go out. So, I am guessing that she might be having microperforated hymen layer which may not be allowing blood to pass freely. There is another reason why I am assuming this is because she was in severe pain when we tried to have intercourse.
Avatar n tn I am also experiencing what you are, very severe, excruciating cramps at the time my period was, with little to no bleeding. Ibuprofen and naproxen do not touch the pain and I don't want to go back on the prescription meds I had to take for my cramps before the ablation. Right now I am home from work with a heating pad on my belly and taking crampbark and motherwort, but it's not helping. Would also love suggestions for pain control.
Avatar f tn ve noticed that movement as simple as walking for an hour or strenuous workouts causes me menstrual like cramps, nausea, and headaches. I've been watching what I eat and have tried cutting out certain foods, but nothing seems to make a difference. My period makes it unbearable, which we've now stopped with the pill. What can this be? What doctor should I see? My ob says she wants to wait to see if I'm in pain another 4 months before referring to a surgeon for endometriosis.
