Hi, There's a long list of issues that can cause abdominal cramps without the presence of a menstrual period, for example: a late or irregular period, pregnancy, stress, indigestion or digestive disorders, an illness, or endometriosis, etc...Menstrual cramps are caused by the uterus contracting when it expels it's lining. For many women cramps can happen 3 to 5 days before a period begins, and also during a period.

I am a twenty seven year old female who has been having severe menstrual cramps since I first started my period at age twelve. Through the years my periods symptoms have changed some symptoms have gotten worse, changed or minimized. A few years ago I was diagnosed with Chronic fatigue syndrome, gluten intolerance and gastritis.

I never actually thought I would be writing this, but after experiencing this through medications/treatments/diagnoses, I think I need help from people other than the ones that I know.

I'm 34 weeks and having the strongest menstrual type feeling cramps ever. My Lower back is in so much pain. It's almost unbearable. Should I be concerned? Did anybody experience this before labor?

Am 33 weeks and been having menstrual cramps on and of can this be contraction first pregnancy help!

Is it normal to have slight cramps below your stomach ( almost like menstrual cramps) the first 4 weeks?

It might be early labor. I have read where premature labor can feel like menstrual cramps. It could also be Braxton hicks but Im not sure. If you have more than 4 cramps an hour, you should call your OB ASAP. That is what the OB nurse told me on Friday when I was having contractions showing on the monitor, although I didn't feel them.

She has been to her OB-GYN, who poked around and said he is not worried about cysts, and gave her a pain Rx, which only made her feel sick, and did not help the pain. Over-the-counter pain relievers do not help. **** Quai helped at one point, but not this past month. The dr. suggested massage, which she then had done by a massage therajpist. It did not help. My maternal grandmother had uterine cancer in her 80's. My maternal aunt (now 90) is a breast cnacer survivor. Any advice?

Over possible menstrual cramps? I'm just trying to figure out if I conceived is it normal to have cramps around where I'm suppose to start. I would be about 3-4 weeks if it worked.

quick question... this past week i have been feeling "menstrual" like cramps in the lower part of my belly... what could this be??? I am 36 weeks 4days..

I am a 20 year old female suffering with chronic menstrual bleeding over past six years and anemia.Have hemmoraged and required transfusions twice. Birth control pills do not work to stop the bleeding at this time I am taking two seasonale pills daily and estrogen to try to control bleeding, but I have been bleeding for a month now. Hematologist has done tests to rule out vonwildebrands disease and other bleeding disorders, all sonograms show no gynecological problems.

To me, they didn't feel any different. I was prepared for disappointment because I thought my period was about to come. I don't think every woman feels cramping during implantation, just like every woman does not experience spotting.

Has anyone else had cramps, like menstrual cramps, throughtout the entire first trimester? I never had this when I was pregnant with my first 2 pregnancies, constant cramps, pains, and nausea 24/7. Does it ever stop?

When the uterus stretches it feels like menstrual cramps, mine were a but stronger than regular menstrual cramps. If they get unbearable I would call the doctor just to be safe.

I have been having menstrual like cramps as well and am almost 37 weeks. They come and go, not constant.. hard to really time. At my last appt i mentioned it to my ob and she said if I was able to go back to sleep and I couldn't time them they were most likely braxton hicks.

How far along are you? At 30wks I went to dr & hospital for having really bad cramps & back pain and I ended up getting monitored all day & they said I was having uterine irritability (mini contractions) & they had to give me a preterm labor shot. They said it could've been brought on by dehydration or bacterial vaginosis (an infection I had at the time).

Not sure if this is just normal but since 3 this afternoon I've been getting diarrhea type cramps and menstrual type cramps that are getting stronger with time. They don't go away with changing position or anything. Im 33 weeks. Any advice?
