Last night I had cramps that felt more like menstrual cramps , and every time my son moved toward the pain it hurt really bad. I am 29w 5d I went to sleep and did wake up about 2 a.m this morning due to the pain, but I'm not too concerned about it I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing cramps this far along?
Braxton hicks contractions don't hurt. Real labor contractions feel nothing like BH as they tend to start off more like menstrual cramps which is tolerable in the beginning. I also agree that a fever isn't cause for going to the hospital unless ur unable to control it with Tylenol. Otherwise, just monitor ur symptoms, if ur contractions get stronger and closer together and last longer over timeand get more painful, then ur probably in labor and should call ur Dr to ask their advice.
They're closer to the real thing when the pain is bad and frequent and consistent.
Well, I had some real contractions while shopping. I couldn't walk or talk. It hur, stomach hardened and felt some major back ache and pressure. That only happened a few times. I've also felt minimal ones like menstrual cramps. So it depends. My doc told me that Braxton hicks can feel like the real deal so just watch the timing.
This is my second pregnancy. With my first I had to be induced because of my water leaking. Earlier today I believe I lost part or all of my mucus plug. Now when I lay down the contractions are almost constant but when I stand up and walk around they go away. I know they aren't braxtons because they're really low like menstrual cramps. The doctors won't be open till 8am tomorrow. Opinons?

I wish I could tell you bc that's all I've been wanting to know is when will this process start and end. I think it drives us absolutely insane not knowing. But from my experience I've been having those menstrual feeling cramps ever since I was 6 months pregnant and my dr. told me they're practice contractions aka braxton hicks.
Real contractions can range in feeling for each person/pregnancy. Menstrual cramping, hip pain, low back pain. Real ones will also tighten up your uterus where when u touch your belly it's hard everywhere and movement doesn't help. And it lasts anywhere from 30-90 seconds. Of that's your case then you should time them from the start of one to the start of another. As long as they are more than 5 min apart then u don't have to go into the hospital yet.
With both my daughter and this pregnancy I had quite a bit of cramping. They felt like mild (for me) menstrual cramps. My cramps usually make it very hard to even stand up. Having had previous miscarriages it was very scary to be cramping, but I talked with my doc and everything was fine and he said cramping is normal in the beginning but if you have bleeding or severe pain on one side to go to the doc.
My doc asked me about them and i have no idea if i have felt one or not. I have pains that feel like menstrual cramps, also have pains that feel like my uterus is ripping apart. And some other random pains here and there....any of those contractions? My belly usually feels hard so i just dont know.....
I've been having braxton hicks for a while now but they don't feel like menstrual cramps its more so a tightening in the front of my abdomen and they hurt a little and take my breath... I have also experienced something similar to what your describing and my doctor said it's from all the growing and stretching!
Since yesterday I was feeling little cramps and they have been getting stronger and longer . They feel like a big hard sharp cramps starting from my stomach going down to my legs going like a wave but last about 30 seconds long .my feet are also beginning to become swollen. Im going to be 39 weeks tomorrow and im a first time mom. Is this braxton hicks or real contractions ? Im trying to take as much pain as I can before I go into the hospital.

Braxton hicks aren't usually painful, what you described sounds right. You'll start getting real contractions soon. They can be associated with a dull back pain and cramping. These are similar to the cramps you'd get with your menstrual cycle but much worse. Sometimes I can't move and have to grab something when standing. You'll feel a lot of pressure and it'll get real tight.
Were they like sharp menstrual cramps?
