This might sound dumb but....If I have really bad cramps and upset stomach I find some relief by having a wintergreen lifesaver/hard candy. Peppermint might work, too. I don't know what it is about it but it would help settle me. You may want to consult a gyno to find out if maybe birth control could help control your symptoms. Best of luck!

Why do the cramps hurt so bad?

I'm 34 weeks and having the strongest menstrual type feeling cramps ever. My Lower back is in so much pain. It's almost unbearable. Should I be concerned? Did anybody experience this before labor?

Hello everyone! I have a question about menstrual cramps, and any help would be appreciated. I have been suffering extremely painful cramps for years now, ever since I got my first period when I was 13. I'm currently 18 and am going off to college very soon, but I have no idea how to deal with these cramps that incapacitate me for an entire day. My cramps get so bad that I usually faint. For example, when I was around 14 my period came in the morning but I still went to school.

There is a lot going on right now. I would get very bad menstrual like cramps in the beginning of my pregnancy but all is good now.

All day today I've had lower back pain and menstrual like cramps that are constant! I'm not sure what to think...is this braxton hicks or preterm labor? Or maybe just general pain or my uterus growing?

Has anyone experienced menstrual like cramps early in pregnancy? I am almost 6 weeks and have off and on menstrual like cramps anywhere from my sides to my pelvic area. I had an ovarian cyst rupture recently so I was told the pain in my side came from the fluid left around my ovaries and that it would take care of itself. It has been 11 days since the cyst ruptured but I still occasionally have pain.

Okay. I do have low back pain and cramps, but it doesn't feel like contractions, just like a constant achey feeling. I will keep my phone on me today at work.

Menstrual cramps are normal to have and I get severe menstrual cramps on the first day of my period as well. Typically it is just from hormones that causes the cramping, as the surge will cause contractions, making her period painful. Prevention is much better than management for pain. Exercise and eating healthy can help prevent menstrual cramps to a certain point, but won't always get rid of them.

anyone experiencing menstrual-like cramps? I'm 30 weeks and 2 days. I've experienced them throughout the day and my doc. Just said to increase my water intake and come in if it feels worst than menstrual-like cramps. Just wondering if anyone is having a similar experience?

These cramps usually begin earlier in the menstrual cycle and last longer than common menstrual cramps.

Yes I'm going through the same thing.. no sleep very uncomfortable, tired ALL the time plus the cramps.. intold my doctor about them and they checked me and said its round ligament pain.. it hurts though..

At 30wks I went to dr & hospital for having really bad cramps & back pain and I ended up getting monitored all day & they said I was having uterine irritability (mini contractions) & they had to give me a preterm labor shot. They said it could've been brought on by dehydration or bacterial vaginosis (an infection I had at the time).

How far along are you? I had cramps at the beginning. . They were mild though since my menstrual cramps are usually unbearable.. It's just your uterus stretching. Then I got some just recently at 18 weeks and its round ligament pain.

in a year, i would experience menstrual cramps from 0 to 3 times. but last january 2008, i started having menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) almost every month when i get my period. It lasts for 1 to 2 days. last june 2008, i had menstrual cramps again for 1 to 2 days. as i was about to end my usual 7 day period, i noticed that i started having my period again. so my whole period lasted for about 2 weeks. now i have my period again.

Yes, thats normal. If the pain gets severe or is sharp on one side getting worse and/or bleeding, you need to get to a & e. I get the feint cramping too throughout the day but they dont really compare to period pain...i used to get bad period pain, so i use that as my indicator. Hope you feel better soon.

ok so ive mentioned that ive been getting some menstrual cramps but no AF. well this morning since 4.30am ive been having the worst cramps ever but still no AF. It can be, yes. Your uterus is growing and expanding as the baby grows larger. This is going to put pressure on your entire lower portion of your body. Sometimes though these cramps can actually be contractions and as you're too early for baby to come this would be dangerous. Does it feel like a squeezing pain at all, or just normal menstrual cramps. For reassurance, you can also phone L&D or your doctor and explain the pain to them and see what they say about it.
