402205 tn?1230481005 Hi everyone, I have a question. I am 13 days clean from hydrocodones (about 4-8 a day for 4 months). I just had a car accident and don't want to take anything for the pain. I was wondering about muscle relaxers. I've never had a problem taking them before. Should I take them? Will it make me relapse? Any help would be appreciated!
Avatar f tn Ive taken it for a little while now with no issues i was on soma before i found out i was pregnant they had to switch me bc somas can cause problems. Flexeril just makes you really sleepy!

Avatar n tn m sure Nursegirl will be around soon and she will KNOW the answer about the muscle relaxers.... Even the most beautiful of gardens need rain to grow. The first few days are uncomfortable...even painful but the end result is so very worth it!! Buckle down, brace yourself for a nasty case of the "flu" and ride it out! YOU CAN DO THIS if you truly want to! The choice is yours! I'm here rooting for you!
Avatar m tn I have tried several muscle relaxers. The most effective for me has been diazepam (Valium). I was leery of trying it because it has a bad name due to abuse. I finally gave in and agreed to give it a try. And it works well for me. That said I was prescribed 60 pills in May and I have about 20 left so I only use it when I just cannot stand or stop the spasms in any other manner. I doesn't give me the "hangover" that so many of the other muscle relaxants did. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if I should be taking a muscle relaxers instead when this happens. I will be in Pt in a week, but for now i need something.
Avatar m tn I still suffer chronic pain, and have taken a hydro about once a month when unbearable along w/muscle relaxers. Speaking of muscle relaxers.....do you have any? Han anyone advised that for leg cramps?
Avatar f tn I have seen a doctor that told me it was a pulled muscle n gave me muscle relaxers which did nothing to stop it. Another doctor told me it was a pinched nerve n gave me meds for it which agian did nothing to stop it. I am waiting to see a PT and a Chiropractor. After a spine x-ray i was told i have beginning stages of DDD. I was devastated though if muscle relaxers n nerve meds arent helping how can it be DDD? Also i was given osteoporosis meds for pain that are not helping.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me muscle relaxers.
529159 tn?1224991026 I get these muscle cramps, but in my arms. I know exactly what you mean and how excruicating it is!!! I literally will take my knuckles and dig into my arms. I know it sounds nuts and my husband looks at me like I am, but it is the only thing that helps, although technically, it really doesn't. Those are the days the pain meds are maxed out! I have also had my electrolite levels all checked and they were -surprise- normal.
137307 tn?1330973997 They called the therapy doctor (not and NL or NS) and he has prescribed a muscle relaxer starting tomorrow called Soma. Has anyone ever had this problem or taken muscle relaxers and got relief. Is there anything else to relieve the spams (that is what they called it, I don't know what it was. It was just to the right of my incision).
3763041 tn?1354906251 Thanks ladies, I have been having bad cramps for over 24 hours and they are concerned cause I delivered my first child at 33 Weeks and have had Braxton Hicks every day since20 Weeks. If i'm not in labor I will be on strict bed rest and muscle relaxers to prevent further dialation.
1033811 tn?1261839028 When I am not resting I have been at the drs. I have been on 3 different muscle relaxers, 2 different pain killers and steroids. These spasms are constant and painful. I am afraid of the potentail damage being done to my back muscles. I reached into the dryer for a shirt & "pulled" a muscle in my back. A few days later I rode a 4 wheeler & felt my neck hurt, so I got off. Then one week later another spasm shaving my leg.
Avatar f tn Since the stellate ganglion block on 3/13, the most concentrated source of back pain has been sharp muscle spasms occurring sporadically along the lower spine and lower-right side of the spine. The rest of the pain has been sore, aching muscles on the left side. I have never had muscle spasms occur on the right of the spine in my back in the past; they have always stayed to the left and on the center of the lower spine.
Avatar m tn It can greatly reduce your heavy periods. I used to have periods seven days long with plenty of clots. It was heavy pretty much all the way through. On top of that, I had horrible nausea, cramps, and lower back pains to the point I couldn't function the first few days and would have to miss school. Since starting the pill, my periods have been 2-3 days and sometimes light, sometimes moderate. Much, much better, and I can go out and function all days of my period.
Avatar f tn My rheumatologist put me on muscle relaxers and set me up with a neurologist but they cant get me in for 2 weeks and this is progressing fast
Avatar m tn sounds like you have problems with muscle spasms that can cause these twitches and cramps. Ive tried tens units, muscle relaxers, nerve pain meds and nothing has helped except for reading the self trigger point manual massage book. It tells you how to locate the muscles that are causing the problems and alot of times they are farther away than one would think.
Avatar f tn And my GP has recently put me on vitamin D. She said that a vitamin D deficiency could cause increased muscle pain and cramps, but I have yet to see any real improvement. I have also heard that soaking in a hot Epsom salt bath can help. Something about absorbing minerals or something from it.
Avatar f tn However, I put on 30 lbs in two months, was exhausted all the time, had constant muscle cramps as well as excruciating menstrual cramps but my Gyno said it was nothing. I then started to have migraines, which disabled me to the point of being able to do nothing except sleep for days. After jumping around from gyno to gyno, my mom figured I should go to an endocrinologist. After finding a wonderful doctor, turns out I have hypothyroidism, overactive adrenal glands and hormone imbalances.
Avatar f tn Wondering if anyone had reactions to muscle relaxers during surgery. Surgeon said bronchospasms had nothing to do with muscle relaxers but I had reactions in the past. I told them before surgery. At pre-op I told surgeon about previous reaction and he agreed to no muscle relaxers. They gave it to me anyway. Anyone else have a similar experience?
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me muscle relaxers for my back since I have slight scoliosis and can't even lay flat on my back without the pain being almost unbearable. I'm in my third trimester so it's only going to worsen. I have reserves about taking them and the pharmacist did too but my OB gave me the go ahead As Needed Only. I was wondering if your doctor's have done the same and if so, how or Has it effected your baby in Any way?
Avatar f tn Hello! My question is pertaining to the effects of muscle relaxers on GERD. I been taking flexeril for years because of muscle pain due to Lupus and for the last 2 months have been being treated for severe indigestion as a side effect of the med Verapimil. I was wondering if the flexeril could relax the sphincter muscle that is involved in GERD? Please give me any ideas or info you might have regarding if the flexeril would be contraindicated due to the GERD situation? Thanks, God bless!
