Avatar f tn I have had the Mirena for almost 14 mths and I am experiencing really bad menstrual cramps. I haven't had a period/spotting in over 6 mths. Is there anyone who have had this experience? If so, why is this happening?
Avatar f tn Hi there, Are you using Merina?Merina can cause menstrual irregularities and cramps but these effects are common in the first few months of its use. The hormonal IUD can cause noncancerous growths like ovarian cysts in few women. These can cause abdominal pain and spotting in between. The chances of ectopic pregnancy are increased with the use of IUDs.If you are doubtful about pregnancy take up the test. This is merely an advice.
Avatar n tn While the most commonly used IUD is the copper IUD, it may indeed increase menstrual bleeding or cramps as well as spotting between periods. If these symptoms persist, it is best that you inform your doctor about this for proper management and to rule out possible infection, gynecological issues or bleeding condition present. Further evaluation may need to be done.
1288353 tn?1279204537 ve also felt mild cramping in my lower abdomen right in the middle. They feel different from normal menstrual cramps though. Is this is sign of pregnancy? I took a preg test 2 days ago and it was negative. I'm sure its too soon to tell but has anyone else experienced cramps like this?
1580452 tn?1296439703 I've had absolutely horrible menstrual cramps for the past several years, to the point that my doctor prescribed percocet for me to take for every period (I can't take NSAIDs like Aleve, Motrin, etc.). I got a Mirena IUD to see if that would help (it didn't, but I still have the IUD) and have been using Nuvaring for almost two months.
Avatar f tn Hello, Fertility returns soon after removal of IUD. Did you have the copper IUD or the hormonal IUD? After removing the IUD, a woman’s menstrual cycle usually resumes to normal within a few months only. A woman’s ability to become pregnant returns quickly. You should be able to try to get pregnant immediately as it does not interfere with ovulation. If you are doubtful that you are pregnant it is suggested to wait for your periods.
1181036 tn?1367368640 I had the worst migranes, mood swings, my hair was falling out, my cramps during my menstrual were unbearable, my weight was up and down even though my diet and exercise routine stayed constant, when i had sex with my husband it was painful, and there were days where it felt like it was slipping out so it was very uncomfortable. The only good thing was I never got pregnant and was able to get pregnant less than a month after getting it removed.
Avatar n tn Hi, If this is the first occurrence then you can just wait and see if this repeats in the next cycle. Spotting after a menstrual period can be seen in women IUD. Also it can be due to local caused like cervical erosion. Hence a local examination by your Doctor is necessary. Hormonal imbalance may also be one of the reasons causing it. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations.
Avatar n tn I briefly spoke with the GI doctor who said this could be due to my menstrual cycle. Since having the IUD, I have not had a period now in over a year. And he did say "prominent" meant "enlarged". So..... Is there no solution? Any ideas? I hope I can talk to him in the next few days for directions. I'm just upset there wasn't something obvious, so I could finally have relief.
Avatar f tn Last month jan 25 th i removed my copper IUD (after having it for 1.8 years), just after my regular menstrual cycle. This month Feb 20th is my due date, but i didnt get any bleeding, rather i got cramps in abdominal, pelvic regions, headache, hunger, fatigue, breast tendreness just for 2 days. Today i am completely alright. Everything is fine. I am fearing what happened to me last 2 days? Is this due to IUD removed last month or early pregnancy symptoms or something else?
Avatar f tn look up some info on.
Avatar f tn I bled very heavily for 2 months after the Mirena IUD but after that the hormones emitted from the IUD caused my periods to stop all together and prior to the IUD my regular cycle was 10 days, very heavy & cramps were severe. Give your body time to adjust if that IUD also emitts hormones. You may also enjoy lighter periods or none at all! Please take the advise of the MD's. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn On Feb. 14, 2011; I started having cramping like menstrual or needing to BM. I had regular BMs but still had the menstrual cramps. Didn't start period till a week later (have IUD), cramps stayed. 2 weeks after cramps started saw my N.P., did cultures checked for STDs. Only had a small yeast infection, also did a UA and prego test, everything came back fine. Pain persisted N.P. came me Voltar for cramps, did not work.
Avatar f tn I left the house and did some errands and camd back 2,hours later. While I was out I started getting bad cramps in my ovary area. I used to get bad cramps when I was ovulating from the time I was 8 years old(yes I got my period at age 8) till I was 16 and got put on birth control. Thats what I'd compare the pain too. And then I got home and I went pee and blood just started coming on. I'm having no pain or anything. I haven't soaked through any pads at all.
627145 tn?1230305626 It is a good choice of birth control for those who prefer no hormones, though. Menstrual cramps and flow tend to be heavier, but otherwise very reliable and nice to not have to remember. I wouls say keep "shopping" around until you find someone who will put it in for you. I hope the wait isn't as long as April for ya!

Avatar f tn My IUD, kyleena, has been in place a little over a year. Here recently I have been having some issues with my menstrual cycle. I bled for 3 weeks. Stopped for a week and a half. Started again for another week. Was off for a week. And just today I started bleeding again. I have recently tested negative for all STIs. I'm not sure what is going on here. This is highly unusual.
Avatar n tn Hi Drs I was placed on Diane 35 when I was around 14 by my gynecologist for POS ive been on it for years and im now 29 As the Pill does not provide 100% birth control I wanted to know if I was able to get an IUD as it has no hormones therfore wont effect my pill for my POS, but is sounds very effective as an extra barrier of protection just incase I ever forget to take my pill or the condom breaks like it did twice in the last two weeks and I had to take the morning after pill twice in two weeks
Avatar f tn ve noticed that movement as simple as walking for an hour or strenuous workouts causes me menstrual like cramps, nausea, and headaches. I've been watching what I eat and have tried cutting out certain foods, but nothing seems to make a difference. My period makes it unbearable, which we've now stopped with the pill. What can this be? What doctor should I see? My ob says she wants to wait to see if I'm in pain another 4 months before referring to a surgeon for endometriosis.
Avatar m tn Last Sunday I woke up in the middle of the night w horrible cramps (this has happened before, even before the iud) so every night since I woke out of a dead sleep w cramps... Nothing helps. Stretching, ibuprofen heating pad etc. So I finally called the doctor on Thursday to get some stronger pain medicine to get me thru this cycle. They decided they wanted to see me. So Friday morning I went in, and my dr thinks it's the iud. Here is where my frustration comes in.
Avatar f tn I have bad cramps during my menstrual and definelty deal with the headaches. It is getting better since I am almost at my optimal dose of Armour. I find the only thing that gets rid of my headaches and also helps with menstrual pain is hyrdocodone. I take one and within an hour my headache is compeletly gone. It I am having cramps it also works for them also. You might want you doctor to prescribe some or something that is in the same pain killer family it has been a life saver.
896114 tn?1241617023 I have been on Nirasterate for almost 5 years. The last year on the injection caused my menstrual migraines to return and thus I asked the Dr about changing my contraception. After a discussion, he suggested non-hormonal methods. He then suggested that I use Nova T - UID. I have done some investigation since then and see that there are a lot of pros and cons. My main concerns at this stage are the following: 1. I am 29 and plan to start having children in 3 years from now.
1395422 tn?1308016251 Everyone woman knows what a menstrual cramp is. It may come as a surprise to many that menstrual cramps have another name. The medical term for these abdominal and pelvic pains is “dysmenorrhea”. More than 50% of women are affected each month by a certain degree of dysmenorrhea, and 15% of those women are experiencing severe cramping. Isn’t this PMS?
1205562 tn?1554747006 I am 24 years old and have had the Paragard IUD for about 2 and half years and do NOT recommend it. I thought it would be good because its non-hormonal and can stay in for up to 12 years (super cheap, right?) I never had problems with terrible cramping or heavy periods before the IUD, and I have also never had a child. The Paragard IUD makes cramps HORRENDOUS.
Avatar f tn Health Risks of Mirena IUS Common side-effects of the Mirena IUS include cramps, dizziness, or feeling faint while the IUD is being inserted. Sometimes, the cramping involves severe pain. Changes in menstrual bleeding are common. Women may have bleeding and spotting between periods, especially during the first few months. Sometimes the bleeding is heavier than usual, however, the bleeding usually becomes lighter than usual and may become irregular.
Avatar f tn ve been on it) are weigh gain, nausea, breast tenderness, change in menstrual cycle or your menstrual cycle will just stop, breast tenderness, fatigue, headache and backache, mood swings and dizziness. I know many women who have gotten the Mirena and got it taken out because it always made them feel like they were pregnant. While properly in place you have a .1% chance of failure, and with Paragard you have a .6% chance of failure.
