147426 tn?1317269232 After a year of testosterone treatment, the men's average blood testosterone level was on the high end of the normal range. Testosterone treatment was associated with better scores on the mental skills test and a 67% slowdown in loss of brain volume. The men's lean muscle mass also rose with testosterone treatment. Larger studies are now underway. Women - Yes, we have testosterone, too, but in much lower levels.
Avatar m tn each and every time. I finally settled on Planned Parenthood, when I realized they do have a (very limited) men's health service and they could get me seen within a matter of days. So I was seen by a clinician and I made sure to tell her everything. I was not going to make the same mistake twice. I even mentioned my fears of a systemic Candida outbreak. She took a look at me and said it didn't look like yeast to her, but she prescribed me a cream anyways. Needless to say, it didn't work.
Avatar n tn It is a warm, sort of tingly sensation that lasts 5 seconds and occurs, I don't know, 10 times throughout the day. I wonder if I slept on the leg funny?? Stress?? I am 43 and in reasonably good health but seem to be a hypochondriac (spelling?) at times. I doubt this is related, but I have some sort of muscle strain in my hip/groin area that is possible due to an intense backpacking trip in October. Any feedback appreciated. Guess I could consult dr. after Xmas if still going on . . .
Avatar f tn I had upper and lower jaw surgery 3 years ago and my health has never been the same. I was given 4 plates and screws in the mandible and maxilla and got the same story about the bioavailability of titanium, but I question it. I have done some moderate research over the last few months and I found one excellent study about a very small percentage of patients having significant health systems since receiving Ti implants.
Avatar n tn i had echo done on my heart--normal chest xray--normal blood tests--normal (still waiting for the results of the allergy test though) so like the other post said...i feel better about my heart, and my health but i still cant breathe. Pulmonary function tests where the doctor said "it could be asthma, very mild though" he prescribed singulair and an albuterol inhaler for before i run. sometimes taking the inhaler can make me lightheaded. so i dont like using it.
Avatar n tn You have lost 41 pounds since May and 57 since November, that is amazing. I know you have done alot of exercise but I still have to ask. You body is not saggy from loosing all this weight in this little time? I wrote down all the carbs, fat, etc...that you were recommended to eat for breakfast for extra energy. I'm wondering if a Slim fast will work the same way for breakfast because I have always had a hard time eating breakfast?
Avatar n tn any instructions for follow-up? did you get any meds? Seriously think about going to a naturopath for extra health support, get someone to call and drive you there. Also, go see your medical doctor if you feel that you have worsened. I got the flu shots on Nov 5th and there have been days that I felt that I went "backwards" and then I would improve again. Look at our original forum (Tingling after Swine Flu Vaccine) where there are over 150 comments for more feedback and suggestions.
Avatar n tn I know you're an opera singer and we wouldn't want that powerful voice to be ruined but health comes first. Thyroid disease is a serious matter. I also recommend getting a few opinions from doctors. Hope this was helpful!
Avatar n tn If you're taking this pill just to loose weight, and not for a health reason, you should stop taking it, and see that if you keep eating healthy, and walking, you'll still loose! And BTW, taking this pill 10 mins before a meal to help with your appetite is crazy! All diet pills tell you to take it 30min.s before each meal.. b/c it takes 30 min.s to start working...10 min.s? that pill isn't doing anything for you when you're eating!
Avatar n tn I'm in a similar situation. I'm 30, my boyfriend is 28. I've had health problems. He says the health problems don't change his view of me. Maybe this is bunk. If marriage didn't exist, my relationship would be perfect. No two people more right for each other. Yadda yadda. I'm not going to get into the details. What makes me angry about this is how many of you women I see being exceptionally cool about the whole deal. You know what you want -- committment. You want long term stability.
Avatar n tn Your ovaries affect mental health later in life, and bone health. I can sense that you are resigned to having the surgery, but I sure wish you could delay it and explore some alternatives. NEITHER the patch or the pill or any other drug will ever, ever be able to replicate what your body does naturally. You will never be the same again. The surgery takes all of 20 minutes, and the effects last til the day you die. Did they tell you some of the things that can happen?
Avatar n tn I have the exact same symptoms you all are describing. I am an 23 year old male in good health and I was diagnosed with RRMS (Relaps-Remitting MS) when I was 18. I talked to my doctor and nurse and the sensitivity is a part of an MS relapse. I am not suggesting that everyone who experiences this feeling has MS, but it could be a possibility. It could be a result of a number of things.
Avatar n tn Oops! I forgot to mention that I do have a friend that took Topamax for migraines. She said it helped her immensely, but she did lose weight with it. I don't think she had any of the bad side effects, but I am not for sure.

288415 tn?1231634102 What the doctors say concern me not (i have had serveral okay ear checks since the problem began). Look, your health is in your own hands - take what the docs say with a grain of salt and backup their talk with your own research - you can be as "smart" as they are and you definately know your body better they do. i feel for all of you deeply (several times my ears have swollen shut and lymph nodes been blocked up into hard rocks for weeks non stop - i understand:)).
Avatar n tn I have some blood problems that I never linked to the lesions, but now I have to rethink it. I think I may start keeping a health diary to track my foods and activites to see if there is a corrilation. Thanks. Yes Autumnharmony, you are not alone.
Avatar n tn And I don't wear contacts either. And the itching drives me crazy! My health insurance doen't cover dermatology :( so I'm trying to solve the mystery myself. Any help would be WONDERFUL!!!! Thanks in Advance!
Avatar f tn I'm 37 and have dealt with this itchy arm thing for at least 7-8 years. Of note---my oldest son is about to turn 8 this November. Not sure if there's a correlation. Also, I initially thought mine was seasonal, too, but I'm not sure it is. I used to live in Virginia and now live in San Diego...and it's bothered me year-round in both locations. A few months ago I began to think it was wheat/gluten-related, but I can't seem to make sense of that, either.
Avatar n tn This is really illuminating to find so many others suffering almost identical symptoms. I am a 58 year old male pretty fit and in generally good health. My problem is the intense tearing pain I get in my right knee when I bend at a certain angle and at a certain time. I can't define either because it's so uncertain. I can do situps now with no problem. We all seem to refer to this pain as a tearing pain as it feels like a wound that has been stiched together is tearing apart.
280700 tn?1210287416 I've just started my 4th round of Clomid. I'm am on 50 mg. I had two early miscarriages . One in November 2008 and the second one in Feb 2009. My doctor said this is the last cycle of Clomind I can do. Not sure what the next step will be. This time I'm taking Clomid days 3-7. The three previous months I took Clomid days 5-9. Hopefully this will make a difference. Good Luck to everyone!!
Avatar n tn Married 7 yrs no other partners no history of any health issues. Thought it could be atrophic vaginitis, but dr didn't seem to think so. The only thing that stops it from itching all day is anti itch cream like vagasil.
Avatar n tn There is a good article in Women's Health this month in regards to Chronic pain and the fact that sometimes the nerve does not "shut off" long after the injury has healed. At least this would account for the fact that nothing shows on MRI's, X-Rays, CAT scans, Bone Scans etc., etc.. The hope was that the nerve blocks that I had would work "like shutting down and restarting your computer". One worked for 4 days, the next one 2 (they won't repeat them).
Avatar m tn i know ultimately the fault is mine the best way to stay healthy is not to take foolish chances and get myself in a position of ill health
Avatar n tn Then this year about 1 month ago it came back and was 4 times the size of the first one. the size of a dice. So I grabbed for my British Columbia Health Guide Handbook. It gives you an idea of what's wrong, befor you see the doc. The book made it sound like no big deal, and does say it can come back, but doesn't mention any surgery's needed. so now I am curious too about how serious this is, because the health handbook reads...
Avatar n tn I too can relate to your story. Not just an hr ago I went through this same thing: stomach cramps and nausea; light headed, turned pale, I got really hot all over sweating from head to toe; loss in blood pressure that I couldn’t even hold my head up, felt like I would pass out; severe stomach cramps and liquid diarrhea, in my case there was no hard stool. I have experienced this problem probably 5 or 6 times in my life and I am 46.
