Avatar m tn I've been taking a GNC Mega Men's multivitamin for about a week and I've noticed a huge increase in my anxiety levels. My father took the same multivitamin for a few months and became mildly more anxious in that time period as well. I'm wondering if there's any correlation between taking a multivitamin and increases in anxiety... I've heard that, if anything, multivitamins are supposed to better your mood, but that's definitely not happening with me. Thanks for your help!
Avatar m tn This is Men's Health. The meds you're on may be causing the constipation. You most likely need a lot more fiber in your diet.I have heard of other men that have a semen like discharge when straining during a bowel movement. I think it's because you're pushing so hard. What is on your anus does sound like piles to me. I know your Dr ruled that out though. It sure sounds like it to me. I'm not sure about the marks on your penis.
Avatar f tn Is that healthy part stronger, more protective?? I think I have become ? more fragmented. How do I become more contained? What can I do?? I don't think my T and I discussed what I could do. Maybe I'm wrong. I just feel inordinately tired. (And don't want to sever the connection).
572651 tn?1531002957 It is pretty well qccepted that women's complaints are more likely to be dismissed from the beginning than men's, but that misses the whole point. If it happens to you - male or female - it's 100%. No one should be dismissed. For each and every one of us that is condescended to by a "healthcare provider" it is an outrage. It seems to me, that as soon as a man's complaints are not easily diagnosable, they are also frequently dismissed.
649848 tn?1534637300 In a similar interaction, a patient of mine told me about how she had lost more than 100 lb by maintaining a lifestyle of high physical activity and eating an unabashedly healthful diet. But after being weighed by her new family physician, she was quickly lectured about the risks of obesity and told that she ought to try exercising more and eating healthier.
Avatar f tn In December I stopped eating all fast foods, stopped eating all processed foods, (microwavable dinners etc) cut back on sugar, and started to eat more sensibly. With those changes alone I did lose weight slowly but consitantly. I went on the "Blood Type" diet (Google it ) and this was huge for me.
Avatar m tn If it is caused by the methadone meds, and I can't lower that, what else can I do? Is there a natural herb or food I could eat to help? I'm the type of person that never would take even an asprin before this accident, so you can understand why I am reluctant when my doctor wants to add more and more medicines, but at the same time relived to live with less pain and have a better quality of life.
Avatar m tn Apples are loaded with the powerful antioxidants quercetin and catechin, which protect cells from damage - that means a reduced risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease, especially if you eat the skin. Research shows that the apple peel contains five times more polyphenols than the flesh. Apples and their skins pack a lot of fiber too (about twice that of other common fruits, including peaches, grapes, and grapefruit), which may help fight the battle of the bulge.
1591337 tn?1297104949 I am tapering myself off the fast food. I begin my day with a banana and low fat yogurt. Then I eat something not so good for you for lunch. Then I eat healthy snacks like grapes, apples, blueberries, ect. Then I try to eat a pretty healthy supper. I feel like my bloodpressure spikes when it gets dark for some reason. What I'm asking is do you think I am hurting my body buy the way I took them to the extreme. I'm not very active yet but that's my next goal. Thanks for the input!
287246 tn?1318573663 This is an e-mail I received today but the e-mail had pictures of all of these things. This has so much about general health, women's health and men's. I just thought it would be something good to share...... God's Pharmacy! Amazing! A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes. A Tomato has four chambers and is red.
Avatar m tn Brown ½ pound of extra-lean ground beef over medium heat. As it cooks, sprinkle it with black pepper, 2 teaspoons of chili powder, and a couple dashes of Tabasco. Place the cooked beef, one diced tomato, and 2 tablespoons of low-fat cheese over a bed of lettuce, and top with salsa. Bones Bones are a lot like reclusive coworkers; until one snaps, you aren't likely to give them much thought. Drink two 8-ounce glasses of vitamin D-fortified low-fat milk every day.

579258 tn?1250652943 Men's Health Ab's Diet) One other thing to sorta go off of what you said, is, whenever you are preparing your lunch to take to work the next day (because it's always better to take lunch, you actually know what you're eating and how much!), prepare your meal right after dinner. By then you should be full to the point where you won't be tempted to snack while preparing it consuming extra calories. And by then you won't have hunger on your mind to make your lunch larger than it needs to be.
Avatar f tn I discovered at the same time I was diagnosed with Hep C that my blood pressure was up and my cholesterol also has elevated to 227. Avatar f tn I have doubts about a HBV cure, but figure after reading of the positives it cannot hurt to try for good overall health at least. I live in he US, so do not have spice shops. I found some organic raw black seed on Amazon. One question, they all say they are high in iron and I thought we with HBV were suppose to avoid lots of iron? Can you please tell me what brand you are using, how to take it (can you just grind and eat plain, and if the extra iron is bad. Thanks.
Avatar f tn It's easy to make ahead of time, and by tweaking the conventional recipe to include cranberries, Men's Health resident chef Matt Goulding has added a hint of jellylike sweetness. 1 6 oz can solid white tuna 2 Tbsp dried cranberries, roughly chopped 1/4 yellow onion, minced 1 Tbsp mayonnaise 2 tsp balsamic vinegar Salt and pepper to taste Mix all the ingredients together. Serve a scoop on a piece of toasted whole-grain bread.
Avatar n tn He comes from a 'larger' family, who are all slightly overweight. I suppose I was just wondering if his weight would ever be a problem. We both eat healthy food, so thats not a problem. I think he just has weight genes that run in the family. Maybe I'am worrying over nothing! Thankyou for your comments though.
Avatar n tn try and FIND a vitamin without A or K it's practically impossible but docs advise us to stay away from Beta Carotene and of COURSE NO NO NO IRON! I don't even eat out of cast iron skillets any longer and no more blood red meat waaaaaa - how do you have summer without rare hamburgers? I tell you - this disease has really changed more things than I care to think about but now I'm getting used to hardly eating any red meat and if I do it's well cooked.

Avatar m tn No doctors, no pills, only cost was 25 bucks for a yogurt maker. Well worth it. I can eat anything now and I used to react to every food under the sun. Link to info on the SCDiet: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/Search/search.
535904 tn?1213468238 hi, and welcome! i'm fairly new myself. the people here are great. o.k. , this my own opinion. don't take the effexor. i had terrible side effects from it and it's extremely hard to get off of. if your anxiety is'nt that bad all the time then why not try the natural route? you can get magnesium from some foods so i would try that before going to supplements. a couple of calming foods are milk and turkey. do some research on the web about calming foods and supplements.
1007653 tn?1259389567 As you squat back, sit on the box so your upper thighs are parallel to the floor. Then stand back up. Complete 1 to 3 sets of only 1 to 3 reps each. As you become stronger, use higher boxes and add weight, which creates more tension. Why it works: The box removes all momentum where the lift is most challenging, which forces your muscles to work harder to start back up. And by limiting your range of motion, you learn to handle heavier loads.

10609801 tn?1412402888 You could also buy valerian root from a health food store and add drops to the teas. You will get through this. Do you go to counseling, substance abuse support groups? Keep the faith. There is always hope.
Avatar m tn A 5 to 10 second delay is normal. I actually just went and it took 6 seconds for the flow to start. I would think that a number of things have to happen inside you to allow the urine to be released from your bladder. Otherwise, a lot of us would be wetting our pants. At your age, prostate problems are very very rare. Ever had the problem of not being able to go at all (especially in a crowded public bathroom)? That is because you are thinking about it.
