period

Avatar f tn Why have my periods stopped. It's been about 4 months since I've had a period. Am only 39 years old. Am not not overly stressed. I am overweight but this happened to me before back in 1998 and I was slim and normal weight then, they stopped for 6 months at a time. I get symptoms such as water retention and cravings and sore breasts every month sometimes I even get cramps but just no bleed. I've been checked out by doctors and been told they can't find anything wrong.

Avatar f tn I’m 46 years old and have had regular periods (like every 28-32 days) all my life. I am on day 92 (3 months) with no periods yet! As in my periods just stopped with no warnings! I Did not go through any other symptoms before with peri menopause except one month of hot flashes which I think was from drinking a bit too heavy as I was off due to ptsd. Had anyone went into menopause with having no irregularities and just stopped periods?
Avatar f tn I have a question when a woman starts menopause do they always have irregular periods in the months before and then they stop or do they have normal periods and then just all the sudden stop?
Avatar f tn Then 15 months of normal periods (once every 28 days). Now however I am 4 weeks late again. So what is this.....menopause? Am I done mentruating, or can I expect for it to come back again? How many of you just stopped one day never to have a period again? I thought it was supposed to come with hot flashes, etc etc. PS: I will be 50 in October (dang, am I really that old??
Avatar m tn During the peri-menopausal years (the 10 to 15 years before menopause) and menopause (menopause means one year with no periods), it is common for women to suffer a multitude of hormonal complaints. Hot flashes, night sweats and sleep disturbances are common complaints during this time in a woman's life. Most would think these symptoms are associated with a decline in estrogen, but they are also hallmark symptoms of low thyroid, especially night sweats and insomnia.
Avatar f tn Before menopause, the periods can be irrigular and spotty. My mom had similar symptoms then was diagnosed with cervical cancer at age 46. She went under surgery and had her reproductive organ removed. She is still very healthy at age 71 now. I would take it seriously to have a doctor exam it. Hope it's just getting into pre-menopause period.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 49 and in total SHOCK! I stopped having my period a year and a half ago (at 47) and about 3 weeks ago I had a small drops of blood stain my undies, but didnt pay much attention to it. Well just a few days ago, on April 20th, I felt in my body as if I would have my "period once again", so I placed a pad on and, SURE ENOUGH, there was the discharge a few hrs later.
Avatar n tn I had very heavy periods, all the sudden they stopped to very light, I'm 47 should I be concerned
Avatar f tn I too had dark brown/black spotty periods for a couple months then nothing at all ever since then. My periods literally stopped. Thats when I entered pre-menopause at the age of 43. I was told by a co-worker that sometimes if a woman gives birth at a young age that she may have early menopause. I don't know if thats true or not but it was the case with me. I had my first child when I was 17. I wish you luck to finding out answers to your issues. I can sympathize with you.
Avatar n tn Hi, Yes I am also going through the menopause and have noticed exactly the same thing. It started about three months ago and yet it has been about 18 months since my periods stopped. Like you, I haven't gained weight anywhere else, so would really be happy to hear if there is a medical explanation for this.
Avatar f tn I am 54 and was having regular periods like clock work. I missed a couple of periods, but now back on track with no symptoms of menopause at all. My last day of treatment is tomorrow! I did 6 months with Incevik. Good luck to everyone and happy holidays.
Avatar n tn Usually menstruation has decreased or stopped completely by this age, then menopause will kick in and birth control pills will help. So, it's not just for preventing pregnancies.
Avatar n tn I am 50 years old and had Endometrial Ablation surgery (NovaSure) almost two years ago. I am now going through menopause and dealing with hot flashes constantly. I even am woke up throughout each night by night sweats. Today I started taking Estroven PM and am hoping this will help.
552580 tn?1296478693 You could pick up some natural progesterone creme at the health food store. It made all the difference in the world for me.
Avatar f tn Wow, I wish that you will have a continued transition this easy into menopause. Menopause is when you have no more periods. So many woman suffer pretty bad during perimenopause, the years leading up to menopause. I think it can be as late as 59?? Stay well...
Avatar f tn Could be early menopause or not....My periods changed at 37, but I still got them regularly and at 43 am pregnant without any medical assistance. Guess it can be pre menopause, but until you actually "pause", you still may be fertil. Keep using birth control and go ask your Dr. Just don't stress about it.
Avatar f tn She continued to have sporadic periods for a few years, then it stopped entirely. She was one of the lucky few who had no other symptoms of menopause.

Avatar f tn Thank god I had 2 kids earlier in my life I was blessed with that! THen omce they started having thier periods mine stopped LOL. Anyway hope you are dealing with it ok. It took me a lomg time and actually I still feel upset about it. But thank god it could have been something worse like a disease.
4173196 tn?1350595246 When I was in perimenopause (lasted several years before my periods actually stopped), yes I did have drenching sweats. Most of the time I just got dewy, little beads of sweat on my face. Other times it would be so bad I would drip off my chin and have it dribbling down my chest, back and sides. Those really bad times I also got very nauseated and would throw up a bit. It wasn't fun but I got through it. I wasn't willing to take hormones because of the risks involved there.
Avatar n tn It has been two years since I stopped having periods following chemotherapy. I have been on arimidex for 9 months having switched from tamoxifen. For the past five weeks, I have been bleeding and appear to be having a period. Does anyone relate to this? I am overweight, stressed, and too busy to exercise in case there is a connection. Any experience out there with this?
736040 tn?1257436457 It is possible to miss periods, mine stopped with Hashi/Hypo for 5 months then came back, i am apparently Peri- menopause but doc said they stopped cause of the hypo, once it was sorted out they were back..
Avatar n tn With the onset of insane events in my life, my periods stopped. I have symptoms that follow menopausal patterns, and would be fine with menopause except not sure. My periods were fairly regular - every 24-32 days - and then suddenly stopped. Have to say, with the stress and an inability to stomach food, I probably lost 20-25 pounds, with probably 5 of those being in hair loss. I MISS MY HAIR!! I go for months upon months without my menstrual cycle.
Avatar f tn It came back positive for HPV and negative for malignancy. Well, now, I stopped having periods again, my last was August 26th. This time I did however have symptoms. I thought that I might have been pregnant, so I did a test and it was neg, did another one Sept 30 and it was neg as well. I did go to the doctor today and he did another PG test on me, it was neg as well. I won't find out about the blood test he did until tomorrow.
