Avatar n tn But like you when I first stopped the last course of HRT I started having periods again for 3 mths and panciked thinking I was back at the very beginning and would have to go through all this hell again, as my periods had stopped and I'd been classed post menopausal. Anyhow the good news is, after 3 mth off HRT I have now gone for 3 mths without periods again so I'm sure that this is what will happen with you too.

Avatar n tn This month I am now toward the end of the third week with my period and the flow is slightly heavy at times and bright red. Can this be normal when approaching menopause? My periods were always 7-9 days long before and every 21 days. I have not experienced hot flashes but my skin and eyes have been really dry the last few months.
Avatar n tn I asked my doctor 2 years ago when was I going to go threw menopause. He said you are already going threw it. Surprise to me!! I have not had any symtoms. My periods have always been heavy so I could not tell. I did see a slight change with them lasting a little longer than normal. Last month I had a very light period. Now this month I have not had one. I have been regular all my life. Never late and always on time. I have never used birth control pills or patches or any of that stuff.
Avatar n tn you are never to early to go through the menopause, i started at 34 , im now 38. i got up one and my periods just stopped and have never returned but every one is different.
4173196 tn?1350598846 When I was in perimenopause (lasted several years before my periods actually stopped), yes I did have drenching sweats. Most of the time I just got dewy, little beads of sweat on my face. Other times it would be so bad I would drip off my chin and have it dribbling down my chest, back and sides. Those really bad times I also got very nauseated and would throw up a bit. It wasn't fun but I got through it. I wasn't willing to take hormones because of the risks involved there.
Avatar n tn You should be finished with menopause when your periods have stopped for one year. There could be another cause for the bleeding, so go to your Gynecologist and get checked. Heavy colds and coughs do not cause uterine bleeding as far as I know.
Avatar f tn Over the age of 40, it may be due to the menopause and not having a period for 3 years will mean that your menstrual cycle days are finished. Still see your doctor though to make sure that your period have stopped because of the menopause.

Avatar f tn Why have my periods stopped. It's been about 4 months since I've had a period. Am only 39 years old. Am not not overly stressed. I am overweight but this happened to me before back in 1998 and I was slim and normal weight then, they stopped for 6 months at a time. I get symptoms such as water retention and cravings and sore breasts every month sometimes I even get cramps but just no bleed. I've been checked out by doctors and been told they can't find anything wrong.
708903 tn?1231330572 I wonder if it could be put right before i'm too old? My doctor said there could be hundreds of reasons why my periods have stopped but just shrugged his shoulders as if to say "he ho", there's not much else they can do! Surely it is'nt right to not have periods? They sort of stopped when i was 41 and i am 43 nowI am fit and healthy in other ways, exercise, doing at least 3 hours aerobic classes a week, am 5ft 5" and weigh 10stone 8lbs.
Avatar f tn I also have some slight body hair also, but my Mum had irregular periods until she went on the pill (she was on it for 7 years before conceiving me at 35 with no problem (I think first or second month) and then again until 40). It was after she stopped taking it that she found her periods were more regular, but she does not know how long on the pill it would have taken her for this.
Avatar n tn About 4 or 5 months ago, I started having lower back pain. At the same time, I stopped having periods. The back pain started out as a stabbing pain in my lower left back, but has progressed to a chronic diffuse pain in that area and now also on the right side. Went to GP, got exray, shows arthritis in lumbar spine. Started traction therapy last week. Pain much worse afterwards. The thing is, I have arthritis elsewhere and it doesn't hurt like this.
Avatar f tn Hi there, i'm 50, last proper period was two in December 2010 at the start and end of the month, since then no periods Jan,Feb,March but hot sweats started so i thought the menopause was well and truely under way, then i had a period 1st April and since then the hot sweats have stopped, but then for the past 2 weeks i have had tender breasts and all the symptons of oncoming periods but no bleeding and no i'm not pregnant! and it's driving me mad is this normal?
Avatar n tn Its over now but I have never heard of anyone speak of this as a normal thing with menopause - could I have stopped having periods due to an infection or something worse?
Avatar n tn If you think you might be pregnant, get an over the counter pregnancy test and find out for sure. If you are 34 and your periods have stopped, talk with your doctor to help find out why. Machelle M.
Avatar f tn I am 59 years old stopped my periods about 5 or 6 years ago and have never had any signs of menopause. Maybe being a fitness instructor has helped with this. I am going into hospital tomorrow for a hystorectomy as they found a growth in my uterous and they suggest that I have the ovaries removed at the same time to avoid any further problems. Question is would I now develope menopausal symptons and have to go on HRT because if so I would rather not have them removed.
Avatar n tn Just wondering,I stopped my periods at age 46,I am 55 right now. Should I be worried about this, my doctor said its too early to worry about bone loss. Could this have cause my thyroid to become hypo? Or is there any connection to my condition and and early menopause?
Avatar n tn Menopause is perhaps most easily understood as the opposite process to menarche, the start of the monthly periods. However, menopause in women cannot satisfactorily be defined simply as the permanent "stopping of the monthly periods", because in reality what is happening to the uterus is quite secondary to the process; it is what is happening to the ovaries that is the crucial factor. _________________ hot flashes [url=http://www.
Avatar n tn It's not what I expected and am even wondering if this is normal. In August, I stopped taking the birth control pill and several weeks later had my FSH level tested which showed I was post-menopausal (I'm 51). One very light period in Sept so I suspect I may still be perimenopausal. Weird thing is I went on the pill in my mid-40's because of symptoms - migraines and sleeplessness. It's been 3 months since I've stopped the pill and I feel great - sleep really well, no hot flashes, etc.
Avatar f tn THen omce they started having thier periods mine stopped LOL. Anyway hope you are dealing with it ok. It took me a lomg time and actually I still feel upset about it. But thank god it could have been something worse like a disease.
Avatar n tn By definition, a woman is menopausal after her periods have stopped for one year. Menopause typically occurs in a woman's late forties to early fifties. It is a normal part of aging, marking the end of a woman's reproductive years. Women who have their ovaries surgically removed undergo "sudden" menopause.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am 26. Stopped taking pills 9 months ago. No periods, but hot flushes and sweating. FSH 70. Is there any chance that this situation was caused by stress, etc and will reverse?
Avatar f tn When I was having periods, even in my 20's, I would get migraines around the time of my periods, usually for the first 2-3 days of my period. I recently began thinking maybe in taking HRT, I am prolonging the migraines, if they are, indeed, hormone related, as I have always been told.
