Medroxyprogesterone induce period

Common Questions and Answers about Medroxyprogesterone induce period

depo-provera

Avatar n tn During your normal cycle your progesterone raises right before your period and that drop in levels causes the period. The medroxyprogesterone is just like that normal rise and drop. I hope this helps!
Avatar f tn It is used to prevent miscarriage in the first few months of pregnancy. It is also used to induce a menstrual period in cases of amenorrhea .It possesses hormonal activities of follicle stimulating hormone .It can be used for contraception also. It is not safe if taken during early pregnancy. It can cause minor birth defects if taken in the first trimester. Do discuss all your concerns with your doctor. Do keep us posted. Avatar f tn I just took my first dose 10 mg of Provera to induce a period i skipped 4 months in a row..... I'm scared after reading others experiences with the medication anyone ever take it?
Avatar n tn My experience, I was given medroxyprogesterone to induce my period as well, and I didn't start bleeding until about 2-3 days after finishing the 10 days. However, this is my third time taking it, and I actually started bleeding about 8 days into it this time. So it may differ! It probably wouldn't hurt just to give your doctor a call though, and just tell them it hasn't worked and you feel nauseated. They should be able to take it from there. Good luck!
Avatar n tn After IVF and a loss. I have missed a period for the first time in my life. Doctor states it is due to age, I am 39. but I do not believe it. She put me on Medroxyprogesteron to induce a period that was aweek late and making more cramped and miserable. All it is doing is making me more bloated, more cramping in uterus and lower back. I am crying and miserable. My question is, is this normal and when should my period come?????
16221027 tn?1446217790 Okay so i have a question, I haven't had a period for 10 months, and 7 days ago i was persribed Medroxyprogesterone to regulate my period. I had a slight side effect of dizzyness, and depression, so i quit taking the pill on day 5. i was perscribed 10mg for 10days by my OBGYN i stoped taking on day 5. i did take a pill on day 5. but i don't have a phone so i couldn't consult my doctor. all i know is i was really depressed for 2 1/2 days straight.
1855970 tn?1325827213 I have been taking Medroxyprogesterone (Provera) for 11 months now to induce my period each month. I take 10mg days 16-26 each month. I usually get my period 2-5 days after i stop the medicine. This month however, its day 11 and still no period. For the past week or so I have been experiencing very painful/sensitive nipples, slight abdominal cramping, excessive tiredness, headaches, and nausea.
Avatar n tn If I get my period after this, do I start to ovulate normally again or is Provera just to induce your period and have nothing to do with ovulation?
1855970 tn?1325827213 back in january, my doctor started me on medroxyprogesterone (Provera) to induce my period each month because I had gone 6 years without a period. I take the 10mg pill on days 16-25 each month and my period begins 3-5 days after the last pill. It has been working just fine from Jan-July. My period usually will last 3-7 days. Last month (august) my period was very light and lasted about 4 days. This month, my period started very early (I had 3 of the pills to take yet).
Avatar n tn He prescribed me something called medroxyprogesterone which is supposed to induce my period. You may also want to try another pregnancy test. Sometimes they don't show up as positive right away. It could be a variety of things though so it is really best to talk to the doctor. My husband and I are trying to have a baby so it's really a cause for concern with me! Good luck.
Avatar n tn Hello~ My OBGYN suggested to take 5 mg Medroxyprogesterone 5 mg x 7 days to induce menstruation. I am 49 years old in pre-menopause. I have not had a period and am starting my 7th month of no period. I really dislike any type of pills, but my doctor said, I should take this med every three months if I do not have a period, to shed my uterine lining, until I am through with menopause. I do smoke sometimes, otherwise very healthy, and am afraid of the side effects.
Avatar f tn This is also linked to mild depression---- is there any way you could be stress or mildly depressed? I've not been given meds before (is that to induce the period or to treat the discharge which is how I read it)--- illness is something that can cause a delay in one's period. Heck really, anything can throw it off. I started a vigorous workout program earlier this year and it threw my period off. So, do as your doctor says and see what happens.
Avatar f tn ( which is about a year since my last period) So my doctor gave me provera (medroxyprogesterone) to take for 10 days to induce a period. I finally got my period a week later and I am on my 6th day now. I called n asked a nurse at my dr office 2 see if i could count spotting as CD 1 & she said it wouldnt matter if i counted it as day 1 or the day a blood red period came as cd1 so I decided to go w/ counting the day a blood red period came as cd1 so in saying that..
Avatar n tn C which was Oct 6, 2003 (they did NOT get everything the first time) I got my period Nov 7, 2003 and then my second period came Dec 7, 2003 (I had NEVER been that reg.) Jan 7 came and went so I took a test and was pg again. I have a wonderful but fussy 6 month old baby boy. Good Luck to you and I am so sorry you had to go through that.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had an hsg done recently and the test result according to my OBGYN the test result is normal. Prior to the procedure, my OBGYN gave me medication to induce my period, and I have had my period for two months since he put me on medroxyprogesterone. After the Hsg, the DC said he now wants me to go on provera before he puts me on clomid, shouldn't my period return on its own, without me having to go back on drugs?
Avatar n tn ) 6 months to figure out why you haven't had a period is far too long. I went 16 months without a period and my doctor freaked out when she found out (I recently changed doctors). Cysts can make you irregular, as can thyroid conditions. I'm sure there are other reasons. I know that when it would go for extended periods of time, I would take test after test after test and they would always be negative......
Avatar f tn Oh forgot to mention I am also medroxyprogesterone to induce my period. After my last pill I started to spot 3 days later, but not a regular period until 5-6 days later.
Avatar n tn They are putting me on this to induce a period. Has anyone ever taken this before? How long does it take for your period to come? I have six pills one per day. Also, any successful pregnancies soon after this drug was taken? Thanks!
3109572 tn?1341623213 Well im 23 years old with 2 children. I haven't had a period for almost a year now. Ive been cramping and so has my stomach. But I dont have any insurance to go see a doctor. So can I get some help plz?
Avatar f tn I have pcos and I dont get my period unless I am on some type of medication. My doctor started me in medroxyprogesterone to induce my period then clomid for ovulation today is my last day on it. Just wondering how many women actually get pregnant from this and how long it took. Im pretty new to all this so any helpful insight would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn Well, today is CD 38, and I have been taking 10mg of Medroxyprogesterone for 7 days to induce a period. Well, I went to the RR today, and when I wiped, I noticed some mucus that looked exactly like egg whites. I tested it to see how stretchy it was, and it stretched about 2 inches. I am SO confused as to why I am seeing this. I should be getting my period any day now... Did I just ovulate? Is that why I'm seeing that kind of CM?
Avatar n tn Did your doctor prescribe you anything to induce a period? I actually have to take Provera (medroxyprogesterone is another name for it) every month to induce a period or I won't get mine. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Other than what I mentioned and fatigue due to the hypothyroidism, I've always been pretty healthy compared to many. I am not on any medications, except a recent medroxyprogesterone treatment to induce a period. I do not do drugs and am not an alcoholic. I have started a new job recently, and have had a few financial and personal woes of late, due to bad luck, so it could be stress. Additionally, I often have extremely vivid dreams, which might also be the culprit.
1855970 tn?1325827213 Let me start by saying I have been taking Medroxyprogesterone (Provera) since January to induce my period every month. I take it days 16-25 every month and get my period 2-5 days after day 25. The past few days... I have a very extreme aching feeling in my legs (hips to toes), lower abdominal pain/heaviness, very sore nipples, slight headache, congestion. I do have unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Is it possible to be pregnant? I've always had issues with my period.
Avatar f tn When my cycle wouldn't come back after I got off my doctors kept telling me at first that your body just takes a while to get back to normal after you have been on the depo....after a year they decided to give me provera (medroxyprogesterone) to induce a cycle. It worked to induce one horrible cycle but then disappeared again.
170623 tn?1242667663 But back in November my doctor did a wedge resection surgery on my ovaries to hopefully induce ovulation all on its own. My period was on November 19, and on January 3rd I tested (pg - negative and ovulation - positive) so my husband and I did our business thinking "what the hell, right?".
Avatar n tn Hello- I was prescribed Provera 10 mg to induce my period. Its been almost 5 days since I took my last Provera pill and still no period. For those of you that have taken Provera- how long did it take for your periods to start? I am starting to worry so I took a pregancy test and there was an EVER SO SLIGHT second line. It really depended on how you held it up to the light though. I took another one immediately after and there was no second line.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on something called Medroxyprogesterone to induce my period. My breasts hurt so much and my stomach is killing me. Could I be pregnant and the blood test at the hospital was wrong? I need help please answer! My docotr's appointment is tommorrow/ 6.5.06 at 12:30pm. Thank you!!!!
1611503 tn?1325485790 I was on this medicine for a few months to help try to get my cycle restarted correctly. It didn't help me. All it did was induce my period and then I would go another month an a half without ovulating before I'd call for a refill. Some women it does help to restart their bodies into ovulating, but it's not reliable. My advice to you is to chart your BBT and/or OPK's to see if you do in fact ovulate after this cycle.
Avatar n tn My period is regular under medication ( medroxyprogesterone/ provera- 10mg), now I have completed the medicine course, will my period become regular after the surgery? ( birth control pills- Minastrin Fe, Generess, do not suit me as I tend to lose my appetite, become nauseous ) 7. How long I have to wait to get shower after the surgery, how long I have to take rest to get back my normal lifestyle? 8.
