Avatar f tn I have been on medroxy for 5 months, I was taking them for 15 days during the month from the 10th to the 25th of the month, the first 2 months went really well, no period, on the third month my period showed up, super heavy, so now I take them everyday, and again the first 2 months went well, no period, this is the third month and I have had my period for 3 weeks now, but for some reason it starts between 2am and 5 am lasts for about 4 hrs and then stops, only to start again the next day at th
Avatar m tn I had blood work done and I am not full menopause - so my DR, put me on Medroxyprogesterone for 10 days to start it up. Is it true that these drugs can make you more fertile after all is on track? I've posted before as I would love to get pregnant. When I thought I was full menopause I was sad to say the least. I hear so many stories of people that get surprised during pre-menopause when they think they are safe and then get pregnant - I should be so lucky! Thanks in advance for your help.

2051102 tn?1330321233 I will be doing this for 6 months. Why is this medication prescribed? Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat abnormal menstruation (periods) or irregular vaginal bleeding. Medroxyprogesterone is also used to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant or undergoing menopause (change of life).

Avatar f tn There's been a lot of question as to whether HRT will work for everyone in dealing with hot flushes. For some women it's a blessing and works like a charm. For others, it may lessen them but, not get rid of them completely. Give it a try for at least a full month. If nothing has changed for the better at that point, you may want to ask your doctor about changing dosages or adding in a natural supplemental aid or vitamin regime.
Avatar f tn Hi, Confirmation of menopause can only be made when there is cessation of menses for 12 months. Hence this can be your normal periods or breakthrough bleeding because you were on exogenous hormones. An examination with a gynaecologist and hormonal assay will make matters clear. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn was on medroxyprogesterone to get my period. my last month on it I didn't get my period. My OB doctor told me to call in 3 months if I don't get it. What will he put me on to help me get it again or do I have some kind of condition? This will be 3 months. I am only 39 and I think it might be perimenopause or menopausal but everyone keeps saying I'm too young. I do have some symptoms. Night sweats I also do get cramps like I'm going to get my period but I don't.
Avatar n tn i was on the lupron for 6 months and i was done in Nov I got my preciod in Dec and now i haven't gotten since.. Could it be the i am pregnant or it because of the lupron. i went to take pregnancy test but both blood and urine say no.
Avatar n tn My mother is 52 years old and she had her hysterectomy ten years ago (only her cervix was removed but not her ovaries). She has been taking estrogen for HRT and progesterone for the prevention of breast cancer. However, some of her friends have advised her not to take the progesterone because her cervix has been removed. This has left her wondering if she should take the progesterone or not... Does anyone have any experience with regard to this matter. Your advise will be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn She said there was nothing more they could do for me because my FSH, estrodial, LH were all high from that blood test that I had. I haven't had a period since that last one in September (from the progesterone). I am experiencing PMS symptoms, I'm still getting creamy colored to egg white stretchy cervical mucus, I have been crying hysterically, I feel depressed, have migraines, and I have a giant cold sore on my lip. These are my "normal" PMS symptoms, but no period.
Avatar f tn Cultures were taken to check for vaginal and bladder infections and an utra sound was scheduled for what appeared to be an enlarged uterus and possibly fibroids. Culture for bladder infection was contaminated, so no results, but I've been taking a sub for Bactim (and drinking a lot of pure cranberry juice) and am no longer experiencing the frequent urge to empty my bladder nor the pain associated with that. The culture for the vaginal infection came back negative.
Avatar f tn Medroxyprogesterone is also used to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant or undergoing menopause (change of life). Medroxyprogesterone is also used to prevent overgrowth of the lining of the uterus (womb) and may decrease the risk of cancer of the uterus in patients who are taking estrogen. Medroxyprogesterone is in a class of medications called progestins.
135691 tn?1271100723 This can be completely prevented by adding a progesterone for balance. For women who have had a hysterectomy, progesterone is unnecessary and it is safe to take estrogen alone. The most recent study (The women's health initiative WHI)on estrogen and the risk of breast cancer only showed a risk with estrogen and progesterone in the product called "prempro". To date, the WHI study has not shown an association of estrogen alone and breast cancer.
Avatar f tn Been on 88 for 4 weeks now. Should I get labs done again? what is going on? I am 48 and been tested for pre-menopause (I'm not) and had other female test done that was ok. I now know after reading blogs I should of had Free T 3...Can anyone shed some light on my situation???
Avatar f tn Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat abnormal uterine bleeding, promote menstrual cycles, and to treat symptoms of the menopause. It also is used for treating the pain of endometriosis. So basically, in a nut shell, it will make me start AF (promotes menstrual cycles) and it will help with my endometriosis. I'm on cycle day 24 and in about a week or so I'll be back at cycle day 1, lol. I will start taking clomid on CD 3. Clomid: is to stimulate or induce O or production of an egg.
Avatar n tn My period has been gone for 11 months, from december 12 08'...then finally it came back december 09'. Its now feb. and i haven seen it yet. I dont know if it was from the shot gardisil i got 2 months before it went missing or what!!!! I really want children in the future but i dont know whats going on...i dont want my ovaries to shut down on me.
Avatar f tn •Secondary amenorrhea is the absence of menstrual bleeding in a woman who had been menstruating but later stops menstruating for 3 or more months in the absence of pregnancy, lactation (the ability to breastfeed), cycle suppression with systemic hormonal contraceptive (birth control) pills, or menopause. For a woman to have regular menstrual cycles, her hypothalamus, pituitary gland (see Anatomy of the Endocrine System), ovaries, and uterus should all be functioning normally.
Avatar n tn As I recall, this is one reason why thyroid problems and menopause go together so often, since progesterone levels plummet. Or there is no more progesterone at all after surgical menopause. I am so sorry you are having these struggles. Get ahold of Reiss's book and Northrup's (I just typed Nordstrom by mistake...so, I guess if you don't get any answers, well, heck, you could go shopping!
Avatar n tn Hi, I haven't had a period in about 8 weeks, I am 38 years old. NOT pregnant. I have a Hemorrhagic Cyst on my ovary. Dr. says THAT is not causing my period not to come...so I am undergoing a "TEST" he says....I am on Medroxyprogesterone for 10 days to see if it will jump start my period and dissolve the cyst. IF my period does not start, he says we could be looking at some other issues such a my pituitary gland. Or possible early menopause.
Avatar f tn but out of all of the other siblings and all of the other children's children, there have been no cases of autism, even mild. so this speaks highly for a genetic mutation. it's hard to say for sure, but I would say that it's highly unlikely that depo provera caused the autism, most likely an unfortunate genetic mutation. the thing in shots/vaccines thought to cause autism is thermisol (a preservative), which contains mercury...however...
Avatar n tn To re-hash (for those who aren't familiar with me), I had a (leaking) endometrioma removed in May, 06. Prior to surgery, I had been tried on two different types of oral BC pills, both mostly synthetic hormones. Needless to say, they did NOT work. The Yasmin turned me into a meanie, and the Seasonale not only made me an evil wacky b***, but I also had a light period for nearly two months.
Avatar n tn Trimethylaminuria is the medical term for this disorder. You can contact the TMAU FOUNDATION for support groups, help and testing labs to determine if in fact you have this. You discribe all the symptoms. The Foundation can be reached for information regarding this medical problem at: ***@**** Ask for info on the TMAU. They send you locations for testing which can be Fedexed from your primary physician. They say this can ailment CAN be treated.
Avatar f tn So, I'm 19 years old. I started my period in about June and it has only stop for about 4 to 5 days at a time but keeps returning. It is not a light flow either. I am having to change my tampon once an hour. (sorry TMI) I have gone to the doctor twice about this. The first time she ordered me to get blood work done. It came out and I'm perfectly healthy. She put me on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo (The pill) to help with it. Even that hasn't stopped it.
2035763 tn?1329566863 So I am in pain from all the bad symptoms without the benefit of the monthly cleaning out if you know what I mean. I called my doctor and was put on medroxyprogesterone for 10 days. I am now 14 days out after starting the meds, so 4 days after stopping and no period yet. What happens next? Does anyone know? If the medroxyprogresterone doesn't work, what do they do now? I feel there is someting wrong because I am having period symptoms and no period.
Avatar n tn I am 20 years old and have not had a period for almost a year. I have seen a doctor about this and have been tested for many things including thyroid disorders, pituitary problems genetic tests and hormone imbalances. I have somewhat low estrogen (29) for my age and somewhat high FSH (18). I do not have any other issues than these either. I don't know if this will definitely lead me to early menopause and other health problems or if not having a period really isn't that big of a deal.
622208 tn?1222549040 I've been taking progesterone for 6 days and nothing has happened. I'm supposed to take it for 10 days. Other than feeling bloated, fatigue, occasinal lower back pain/and pelvic pain, I have no other symptoms. I'm not sure if I should get a new referral? Request a biopsy? Is this normal? Please advise. Thank you!
