1670856 tn?1316773768 some can kill you either taken alone or when combined with other medications. The same with vitamins. Everyone assumes all vitamins are safe because, well, they're vitamins! Good for you. But if you are taking any kind of blood thinner, you must be extremely careful not to consume ANY vitamin K. People have bled to death because of that combination. And there are many, many others. I can not tell you that what you are taking is OK or not. We are not qualified here to do that.
614658 tn?1303804898 Wort is not always useful and successfully used by all individuals. As with all herbs and homeopathic medicines the amount of time to have some effect on an individual will vary. If you are insistent on using this herb, give it 3-4 weeks to take effect. If you do not see any difference by then and your symptoms are overly bothersome, I would contact a mental health provider who can conduct a thorough history and evaluation and suggest alternative therapies.
1226682 tn?1399937724 has anyone tried using herbs for anxiety??I am on 2 meds and will stay on them but still have anxiety so need to look for something else besides percription medications??
Avatar f tn The only thing you have to worry about is not taking Vitamin K especially because it causes blood clotting while on aggrenox. The other natural blood thinners include vitamin E, garlic, onions, and vitamin C because they also thin blood. That's why doctors tell you not to take these vitamins before an operation. My mother had a stroke about 5 months ago and we are considering opening the blood thinning aggrenox capsules and giving her half the dosages with applesause.
Avatar n tn what vitamins and natural remedies (herbs) should i avoid when on cipralex and seoquel ?
Avatar n tn If you can't ask your psychiatrist, you could find out about drug interactions from another internet site. It's about emotional illness and medicines that treat the brain, esp. about drug interactions. Don't get put off by the silly title. It's called "crazymeds" Written by a guy who has epilepsy, bi-polar, and 4 other conditions. He's a self-styled expert who put together objective info about psyco-tropic meds.
1660049 tn?1326089018 To be safe, buy your vitamins at a pharmacy and speak to a Pharmacist (not a tech, the actual Doctor of Pharmacy or PharmD) about the medication you are taking and any possible interactions with the vitamins you are considering. If you start taking fertility drugs, make sure your doc knows about all your medications. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn Are there any supplements, vitamins, medications, or foods which have negative reactions with Sovaldi?
Avatar m tn Patients and physicians should be encouraged to talk about the use of AHMs and other complementary/alternative treatments [34] and the possibility of interactions of herbal medicines with prescribed drugs [31,32]. Regulators should consider measures to control this sector of healthcare more effectively. It is concluded that toxic herbal metals and undeclared drugs in AHM represent a potentially serious problem that puts consumers at risk.

Are blood moving herbs a concern?
Avatar f tn html ) Interactions Most herbs and supplements have not been thoroughly tested for interactions with other herbs, supplements, drugs, or foods. The interactions listed below are based on reports in scientific publications, laboratory experiments, or traditional use. You should always read product labels. If you have a medical condition, or are taking other drugs, herbs, or supplements, you should speak with a qualified healthcare provider before starting a new therapy.
Avatar m tn You probably shouldn't take this with anything -- it isn't a very clean product. Contains some things in the inactive department that aren't good to take, such as talc and certain preservatives and sugar. It's basically hops, valerian and gentian, and you can get much purer versions of these if you stick to the better herb companies rather than television and internet marketers.
Avatar n tn s a competitive hostility between allopathic doctors and those who use other means. So to know about interactions with natural remedies, better to just google it or contact experts in natural remedies -- your doctor will just tell you he or she doesn't know and will often tell you to never take them as they're all bad for you or quackery. Been there, done that!
Avatar m tn Have you had a diagnosis of what might be wrong first? If, for example, your excess heat is caused by Thyroid problems, then only treating the Thyroid will really work. If it's caused by Menopause, then a different herbal combination might be needed. You might have low-grade fever, caused by any number of things, or an infection somewhere.... I would definitely recommend going to a conventional doctor for a full diagnosis first.
Avatar n tn I am just wondering if there are any problems with drug interactions between Metformin and OTC meds like Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Midol, Unisom, Allergy/Sinus meds, etc... Common things that a person might take for pain, sleeplessness, allergies, colds, etc?
Avatar m tn Many weeks ago one of her doctors suspected neuropathy and recommended B complex vitamins but not any particular brand. Because the local pharmacies don't have a choice of GMP certified brands we're probably going to get the B complex in a multivitamin without any added herbs from a GMP certified practitioner brand that uses the amount of B vitamins usually used for neuropathy.
Avatar f tn However, unlike other prescription medicines, not enough studies have been made to show it s effects and interactions with other drugs and conditions. Avatar n tn Medicines will alleviate some of the symptoms and pain but in in most case you have to take them for the rest of your life with the added problem of side effects (go to any medication you have in your cabinet and you will find a list of possible side effects) just as with natural medicine you may have some side effect but they will not work instantly as start from building your body up to help repair itself with some support for the immediate problem so please do not be put off pursuing natural
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. I may be the only weirdo that pays attention to this stuff. Anyway, I'm NEVER sick; I might get a cold every 2-3 yrs. Well, now I'm starting to get a cold and I'm not for sure how bad it's going to get. I always go to drugs. com to check out drug interactions. It looks like Baclofen, Amantadine, & Ampyra have moderate interactions with a lot of cold medicines (reduced respiration, and weird neuro symptoms, etc).

560272 tn?1311350293 Katie, Folks on this forum have tried a million "natural" supplements, vitamins, herbs and oils and even dancing naked in corn fields.............Some swear by them, some say they are of no use and the jury is still out on many of them. The one and only thing I will advise you about ANY of these things is to consult with your doctor or a chemist befor you take ANYTHING!!!! Especially if you are on a prescription medication.
