Avatar f tn pre-western medicine) has been a blessing for me. I work not only with my specialist, but also with an alternative medicine practitioner as well and thank God for both of these compassionate, educated men. "Complementary and alternative therapies can be useful in pain management for people with fibromyalgia, although these treatments have generally not been well tested." http://www.rheumatology.org/public/factsheets/diseases_and_conditions/fibromyalgia.asp?
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder that is characterized by diffuse musculoskeletal pain and sensitivity to mechanical stimulation. In this pilot clinical trial, we tested the effectiveness of low-dose naltrexone in treating the symptoms of fibromyalgia. DESIGN: Participants completed a single-blind, crossover trial with the following time line: baseline (2 weeks), placebo (2 weeks), drug (8 weeks), and washout (2 weeks).
Avatar n tn My neurologist said he would not do test after I told him also dizzy and forgetting things. He said it was stress. Also, my "pcp" is treating me for fibromyalgia as far as my legs go. Had tried Cymbalta now on Savella.

Avatar f tn My pcp was prescribing me 120 10mg hydrocodone tablets/month for 14 months when she suddenly decided I needed to see pain management which I have currently been at for 3 months. Yesterday I went in to have my 2nd round of injections on my neck and without warning my dr changed my medicine from the 90 10mg hydrocodone per month to Buprenorphine 5mcg transdermal patches 1 per week for 30 days. I'm extremely nervous that this is not going to help me a d a little shell shocked to say the least.
Avatar n tn ve also had fibromyalgia for years, but high doses of Trazadone and Effexor have treated the pain mostly. But I still have a whole host of other diseases commonly seen in fibromyalgia sufferers due to the central nervous system overreacting to stimuli. So it can affect the pulmonary system, esophagus, IBS, chronic fatigue system, heartburn, noncardiac chest pain, etc. etc.
Avatar f tn Right before I posted there was a website to check out for low vitamin d levels. It somehow dissapeared before I was able to write it down. Can the person that sent it resend it.
Avatar f tn hi dr good day i would like to ask why until this time there are no such medicine for hepatitis?.... please help all hepatitis patients This discussion is related to Wanting to start a family.
Avatar m tn I have been told for 3 years I have Fibromyalgia along with osteoarthritis in many areas; osteoporosis (I have lost 2 and l/2 inches in 3 years; fracture mode; every medicine I had been put on has been problems and I have been taken off all for Fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and arthritis. Now, my right eye is getting fuzzy, not every day, but more days all the time. My doctor has said although I need back surgery, be careful doing that because it will possibly make your fibromyalgia worse.
4074293 tn?1351896693 I tried it and found myself mentally slow, unable to focus and write college papers and potential weight gain, so I stopped Lyrica after a month or longer. Some folks say it helps with fibro. I am not one of those. Best wishes.
709619 tn?1230161475 Do people with fibromyalgia experience attacks similar to MS that last for a week or so and then subside with more mild symptoms, or is it a chronic condition? And are the painful areas always sensitive to touch? I've been dealing with something that feels neurological in nature and I'm working with my neurologist on eliminating certain conditions. I have thus far eliminated two conditions that resemble the symptoms I've been dealing with i.e., ALS and B12 deficiency.
Avatar f tn Hi! I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I have horrible pain and my doctors are trying to work with me to find a treatment that doesn't involve heavy pain meds. I have serious issues with my digestive system and so most pain medicine such as vicoden(sp?) or any of those types constipate me. I was hoping for a natural suggestion to talk with my doctor about.
Avatar f tn Hi DD, If I understand your post you are looking for a physician that will understand your pain and prescribe a pain medication that works for you. Am I correct? I think that point may have been missed. I do not know any physicians in your area. Unfortunately you may have labeled yourself by going to a methadone clinic. You may be hard pressed to convince an medical provider otherwise. I think you are may be in a pickle, as my grandmother would have said.
1075109 tn?1281835691 Hence my question about alternative therapy for my Fibromyalgia. I understand that Homeopathy has a relative high success rate helping with the different issues. But this would be a problem for me because there is no way I can mix the two without severe consequences. I know that alternative therapy offers much more than that which I am definately looking into.
Avatar f tn Anti-seizure drugs are the conventional treatment for fibromyalgia. These include Neurontin and Lyrica. Nobody really knows how these medications treat the symptoms (particularly the aches and pains) of fibromyalgia. These medications can help some individuals with fibromyalgia. But these drugs also have serious side effects.
Avatar f tn I take Opana ER which is an extended release pain med and I take percocet for breakthru pain. I also take Lyrica for nerve pain, Trazadone and Flexeril at night to help with sleep and muscle spasms, and I am on Zoloft and bloodpressure meds. I went a long time with no pain meds then to Tramadol then to Lortab, etc.... I have very high pain levels on a daily basis plus I have a high tolerance to meds so the weaker ones never worked well for me.

Avatar f tn It seems to depend on the doctor I think. I have been diagnosed for almost a year now. My fibromyalgia is associated with my Sjogren's syndrome. I am taking Morphine and oxycodone but suffer from chronic pancreatitis as well. Good luck finding something that works for you. Gabapentin may help relieve some of the nervous system symptoms.
1577364 tn?1296689784 Let me introduce myself. My name is Traci. I am a new member to this forum. I have chronic back pain & fibromyalgia. What I a really need is some advice on controlling my pain. Avatar f tn I have had fibro for 10 yrs now, just took myself off Tramadol that was prescribed for back pain, athritis and fibro. I found I was worse for taking it, and went through the last 2 weeks of hell. I have found lots of alternative medicines that help. Take epson salt baths this helps with the baseball bat syndrome, lol, I take ibprofin and acetomenaphin alternating when its very bad, take gabopentin only when I have to for the twitching, wich I feel in my legs, back and arms.
543152 tn?1214312062 At this time after all of the scans ahe has had done she has objective evidence for a C6-7 disc protrusion and also left foramenal stenosis at C4-5 and C5-6 as well as facet arthritis at L3-4 and L4-5 on the CT scan of the lumbosacral spine. Avatar n tn I have had every unexplainable pain there is. Headaches, bone pain, back pain, neck pain, TMJ, Intersticial cystitis, breast pain, etc. 8 yrs ago I seemed to go into a pretty good remission and only experienced short flare ups and they were not to any degree of intense pain. Several months ago I started experiencing more pain than usual in my lower arms and legs. The tender points just below the elbow & knee were extremely painful.
