Common Questions and Answers about Medications used in nebulizers

drug

Avatar n tn yes, nebulizers can be used on babies, my nephew has used one since he was about 6 months old, only when he gets sick. when he is sick he has a hard time breathing and nebulizers work wonders for opening up the airway. it is perfectly safe to use one on a 9 month old. if you are still concerned you can call your pediatrician or even the on-call doctor. good luck to you! also have you taken the baby to a doctor recently? severe coughing fits could be a sign of a more serious illness or infection.
1671791 tn?1303833378 Drinking warm lemonade, hot clear soups and herbal tea may soothe the throat and cough considerably. You will need medications through inhalers/nebulizers or rotacaps for this. Since your mother is a RN, ask her about this and fix up an appointment with a doctor. Take care!
889551 tn?1416184483 Inhalers are very difficult to use on infants and nebulizers are the only effective way to get your little one medicated. I am nurse with a son with pediatric asthma. We've been through it all. I wish you well. If your MD refuses to allow you a nebulizer, find an allergist or another pediatrician.
Avatar n tn t risk using this kind of medication after expiration. Medications either lose their ability to work or become stronger. In this case, you really need it to work. If it has become stronger, the cardiac side effects could be too much for you to handle. I think this would be a dangerous drug to use out of date. See if you can find a free clinic in your area to go to. Many towns have at least one operated by a church.

2094653 tn?1334267573 I haven't used calcium sulfate before but I work in a doctors office and the doctors prescribe it for low calcium.
Avatar f tn Spiriva is an anticholenergic used to treat various forms of COPD, but rarely asthma. The primary function of these medications is to reduce mucous in the respiratory system. They do have a mild broncho-dilating affect. I have not used Spiriva so I am unsure of its dosage, but I have taken ipratropium which is in the same class. As a neb solution it lasts 6 hours and as an MDI it last 4 hours. Check your prescription for dosing on this medication.
Avatar m tn Measures to relieve these symptoms include adequate hydration, use of analgesics or antipyretics, nasal wash, decongestants, expectorants, antibiotics, nebulizers etc. You need to see a ENT specialist for signs to see whether that infection has spread beyond the nasal sinuses into the bone, brain, or other parts of the skull require emergency care. Hope this helps. Best.
1725558 tn?1309737496 I did do some research last night on this subject and in the 50s opiates were widely used for manic depression and there have also been recent hush hush experiments with opiates and depression. I was taking oapiates for a while and i tell u i was happier then but maybe cuz i was a little buzzed. but i functioned fine. where are u from? and what kind of dr do u go to? is it ur pcp or psyc dr?
Avatar n tn Another one that is commonly used is Mucomyst. I use other nebulizers to help open up my airways such as Xopenex. The coughing might be irritation, I know that I get into some pretty awful coughing fits at times. My airways begin to constrict and I just cough more so the nebulizers work, maybe they will help you. There are steroid inhalers that help with chronic inflammation of the lungs, I am on Flovent right now and have found that it helps my airways as well.
Avatar n tn for children according to the pi (package insert---- the bible if you will regarding a drug). However, the class of drugs has been used for years in kids (good or bad). The issue is that no company would risk the liability of enrolling children into the studies the FDA requires to prove the drugs safety. The class of drugs is fairly safe (especially so in adults) and work very well. But I don't know for sure what happens with kids.

Avatar n tn You would be amazed by how much your symptoms could be relieved with aggressive treatment that might include inhalers or nebulizers and even O2. I can tell you from personal experience that I hated the idea of going on O2 and needing those meds to simply breathe. I finally relented and used the O2 faithfully and felt better. My heart did not seem to beat so fast and I didn't feel like dying after going up stairs. Give it a try and see how you feel.
Avatar f tn Just remember to talk to you doctor before doing anything different with your medications. Also to wean on and off medications, it gives your body a chance to get used to the difference.
Avatar m tn the smell stays on the tissue and in my nose sometimes wen i breathe through my mouth i can taste a horrible taste.. going to get my tooth pulled wen/if the swelling goes down, but the stink in my nose and it just pouring out constantly is really bothering me.. been to the ER and they send me home and tell me to go back to the dentist.. the dentist tells me to wait till the swelling goes down..
Avatar f tn At 18 months he started the same way, but this time he ended up in the ER he was given several nebulizers of some form of epinephrin which caused his heart rate to shoot through the roof and we spent 5 days in a PICU. Still at this point he takes an allergy medications occasionally, he is on an emergency inhaler of albuterol. He has also been to an asthma/allergy Dr whom tested him and said that he could find nothing that he was allergic to. I have already had him to the Dr.
Avatar n tn re just not going away even though his symptoms have. He occasionally has a cough in the morning but nothing at night, and nothing during the rest of the day. He is off the nebulizers for now and is staying on his singulair. Am I missing something w/the dark circles? Any thoughts on why they're not going away?
