172023 tn?1334672284 Is it simply expected that a man gets a...ummm...*special* ending? Is this only offered at the shadier places? Or is it simply something that is expected that you will get? Men only, please. I like to know what makes you guys tick. Feel free to elaborate. I used a Poll so that you could keep your anonymity, if desired.
Avatar n tn There are pressure points on the body that massage therapists are told to avoid as they can help induce labor (I am a massage therapist ) you can Google a map of them and do them yourself or even go and get a massage which may also help to relax your body enough to let it happen (all I ask is not to go into labor on the table it may traumatized your Mt and make a huge mess ;) )
Avatar m tn i had no intentions of going to those places,,,thanks for the reply
Avatar f tn I'm so lucky because my mom and I are massage therapists and work from home.
Avatar m tn do you want to start a group to share the tools we find useful for ourselves for pain?
Avatar n tn There was no penetration then? So regarding incurables: ZERO risk for HIV. Low risk for herpes. Herpes is high-risk only when sores are present, and it would've been so painful for her I doubt she'd be rubbing anything with anything of hers that has a sore. You'd be incredibly unlucky if she was shedding viruses without sores at the time (low chance).
Avatar m tn Its found and treated treated by applying continuous pressure (thumbs, golf ball, tennis ball, or other tools such as the Thera - Cane) to the specific area. Applying pressure for 20 seconds 'pushes' lactic acid build up out of the affected tissue and then allows new blood and nutrients to enter and this is when the healing process begins. This effect is noticed immediately up on pressure release. Must be repeated daily for several days to weeks.
Avatar f tn No technique is proven to be better than any other, but cognitive therapy is believed either rightly or wrongly to be the quickest treatment for anxiety. And also remember, all therapy will take some time, and each patient will need a different amount of time than another patient.
Avatar f tn I almost hate that my sessions are soon to come to an end. I have a Groupon for a massage at a massage parlor that does prenatal massage. When I finish my chiropractic sessions, I will go to my ob and make sure that is okay to get the massage... anything that may safely ease discomfort is definitely welcomed (in my opinion)...
Avatar f tn In the last 1 1/2 years I have seen 2 therapists. I found that they seem to be useful only for about 5 sessions, anything more is a waste of time , not only confuses me but they put a lot of garbage in my mind that I feel awful. Some therapist are really awful people, so you do need to be careful and don't be brainwashed. Around ten years back, I had a really bad phobia, daily, and it really stressed me out, I saw therapists after therapist, worked on the techniques, etc, etc.
Avatar f tn Prenatal massage is safe, there are some areas that can stimulate labor like deep tissue on the feet for example but they aren't allowed to do in prenatal massage. Light touch massage on the feet is okay. Therapists are specially trained for prenatal massage so it's perfectly safe and can help ease back pain and improve circulation for example.
181575 tn?1250198786 these points can be very calming and mind centering. I think the text book style of pathology for massage therapists may be a little too much. i think some circulatory massage on the feet, ankles, legs head and neck would be fine. I would avoid circulatory abdomen massage or mid back, to avoid some of those organs that process the virus. I mean, if it was really that bad for you, your doctors would be telling you not to go out and get massages, right?
Avatar f tn Have been clinically depressed all of my adult life. Been to several different therapists and taken every anti-depressant on the market. The only time I have been happy is when I take vicodin. There I said it. I know the damage this can do but it is the only time I feel normal. There is pain and that is part of the reason I started on this medication. I have been taking prozac for many years and it never has done any of the symtoms of depression completelu away.
Avatar n tn Yes, you can get an STD from such unclean facilities. I don't know how those ***** houses function, but when a licensed MT gives a massage to an HIV positive client, we're required to wear gloves. I hope that "massage" parlor gets shut down. It's illegal activity such as this that gives legitimate Massage Therapists (professionals who've put hundreds of school hours and continuing education into their practice) a negative stigma.
Avatar f tn This is my 4th pregnancy (3rd successful pregnancy) and I've always wanted to get a pregnancy massage but not sure if it'll be worth it. Has anyone had one before and how was it?
Avatar m tn An osteopath or a non-traditional chiropractor can often put it back in place -- used to have a chiro who did that for me whenever I got my ribs smashed in sparring when I was studying kung fu. As for massage, it depends on what's actually hurting. Deep tissue massage is good for muscle pain and physical therapists are great for rehab.
Avatar f tn Make sure the therapist you find is an LMT and has at least at couple years under their belt. Many chiropractic offices and physical therapists employ or refer out to a massage therapist they trust. You might also try adding a magnesium suppliment to your daily vitamins. This will help with muscle injuries and cramps that are common throughout your pregnancy.
Avatar n tn And massage therapists have to be certified in prenatal massage to do it safely. My sister in law is a massage therapist.
Avatar n tn The problem with massage is that it is often not covered by insurance as is PT. But the Physical therapists do the same thing of massaging as a massage person would if they know what they are doing. It has also helped me a lot. Make sure though you get a good one.
446049 tn?1649005835 It was popularized and taught to physical therapists, massage therapists, occupational therapists and physicians by John F. Barnes PT through his Myofascial release seminar series.[citation needed] Carol Manheim summarized the principles of Myofascial Release: Fascia covers all organs of the body, muscle and fascia cannot be separated. All muscle stretching is myofascial stretching. Myofascial stretching in one area of the body can be felt in and will affect the other body areas.
9062499 tn?1426957962 From America but i know prenatal massages are safe. They never touch the belly, feet hands, back, legs, neck and head only. I had one it was great. Just look up a good massage therapists and ask if they offer prenatal massages.

271792 tn?1334979657 I did see his 120.00 jerseys on sale for 19.99!! Im sure those massage therapists "misinterpretted" his behavior!!! He's a schmuck, a "D" bag and A PUTZ!!! I'm sure momma putz is sitting back counting the money!! Oh to have something you can be so proud of!!
Avatar f tn All it does is push and vibrate. I am a massage therapist and unless you have some high risk medical condition go for it.
Avatar m tn In my state, you can get a prescription from your doctor for medical massage. Physical therapists are also often trained to perform massage. In general, to the poster, if you are stressed, yes. Massage will likely relax you either at the time or after. I think it is a great thing for people to do.
1759188 tn?1324678308 Massage did great for me. I was having a real bad time with neck pain for months and my occupational therapist referred me to a masseuse that works with one of the local doctor's offices here, so it was even covered by my insurance.
