1184961 tn?1292574076 Yes & it does help, only it's expensive. My husband has been unemployed for 2 years so we have to cut back on expenses. I do get the massages when I can though. I wish I could get them on a regular basis. I failed to say that I also havae fibromyalgia so the massages does wonders for that when I can get them regularly. I haev 2 friends who are massage therapists who do give me discounts right now, so I am blessed in that respect. Thanks for reminding me of this.
424861 tn?1203455151 I am a massage therapist, actually I am just graduating this year, it has been a rough year because I also have fibro, my teachers did not really understand the disease until having me as a student and we were able to find immeasurable amounts of info on the benefits of massage for fibromyalgia patients.
Avatar f tn Hope something of this helps you out, go ahead and focus on the idea that you have fibromyalgia and get better pain relief for it, and get some physical treatment for your shoulder and neck area. Go for your rescan in six months, but put it on the back burner in your mind. Keep us posted if you like, and perhaps someone else might throw their two cents in.
996946 tn?1503249112 Thank you so much for that suggestion. I know they do some massage with her, maybe they need to do that more often. They are first time parents and I know that in itself can be stressful and anxious.
Avatar f tn massage works wonders for me as well
1088646 tn?1256949923 Thank you so much for your input!! I forgot to tell you that I have Osteoarthritis just about all over...it has fused the upper part of my spine together. The muscles that are giving me problems are in rolled up knots. I'm pretty sure it's from sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours a day. I know...what a dingy profession!! I have had an MRI and acupuncture. I am woking on my "stretching" exercises but will look up "self massage" techniques.
446049 tn?1649005835 I've posted a good description from Wikepedia. I have fibromyalgia and Lupus and go for these treatments twice a month. And they work! I couldn't function without them. Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction and accompanying pain and restriction of motion.
1839746 tn?1318546806 Since I do not know what type of massage you are getting, I would say subtle Aromatherapy massage combined with Lymphatic massage would be best suited, to my opinion. Should your therapist be knowledgeable with Chakras , then you would have the added benefit of Energy re-balancing. I would avoid deep tissue, Shiatzu and Swedish for the time being. My update: Second day of "pleuritis"(self-diagnosed) with substantially less pain and much easier to breathe.
Avatar f tn Saturday April 18, 2009 Did you know that some fibromyalgia (FMS) pain may be caused by low blood flow to our muscles? The medical name for that is ischemia (ih-SKEE-mee-ah). We've had some limited evidence of ischemia in FMS for a few years, and it's an area that researchers are pursuing. Basically, muscles hurt and can't work right when they don't get enough blood and the oxygen it carries - think of how hard it is to walk after your foot has fallen asleep!
Avatar f tn And there is a high prevalence of fibromyalgia in hepatitis C patients; this is important for clinicians to appreciate, as the recognition of fibromyalgia in patient with hepatitis C will prevent assumptions of pain being due to liver disease—and perhaps allow for a more focused and correct treatment approach.
Avatar m tn After being on Aropax for some time ,I developed symptoms of Fibromyalgia. The drugs side affects did cause mild muscle akes and muscle spasims but nothing bad until I got the Fibro myalga. I ran an experiment with my Doctor and weaned off them and the Fibromyalga went over a few weeksin a decreasing fashion. I then went back on it again and the problems returned.

Avatar f tn I have found relief with myofascial release treatments from my massage therapist. I have also found that self breast massage (my massage therapist taught me to do this and it also helps to clear your lymphatic system) can help to loosen things.
4861077 tn?1360156139 I have now seen the rheumatologist and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia can any advise me as to what help I can get as some days these pains can be life limiting am finding it hard to even peel potatoes need advice thanks
Avatar f tn Kegels multiple times a day. Practice breathing techniques. Practice meditation and visualization and relaxation. Walk every day. Squats every day. Have some Lavender and Clary sage essential oils handy to sniff on a cotton ball to relax. Perineum massage every day if you have a willing partner. (Pretty hard to do it yourself.) Best thing I suppose we can do is have our bodies and minds prepared. Do you know the stages of labour and what to expect in each and how long they typically last?
Avatar f tn I am 22 years old and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia about a year ago. I've had numerous medical conditions since I was a child, and for years was always just characterized as a chorionic complainer. It wasn't until things started getting pretty bad that I was finally given the title "fibromyalgia". For over a year now I wake up feeling like I have not slept at all (even though I do, and very well throughout the night) everyday.
Avatar n tn I did not develop Lymphodema after my cancer treatment but because I was having radiation to the bowel, I was seeing a physio for prevention techniques to stop it happening and if it did happen how to manage it. (I had my pelvic lymph nodes removed during my hysterectomy). If you see your doctor and get him to refer you to a physiotherapist that is experienced in lymphatic drainage massage they will be able to show you and treat you with massage that you can actually do at home.
Avatar f tn 6 months ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and put on Tramadol ER 200 and 50mg prn for breakthrough. I was also put on Lyrica, which I stopped taking, Concerta, which works very well at a low dose, and Cymbalta 60mg that I take everyday. I stopped taking the Tramadol 2 days ago and feel horrible. I have a script waiting at the pharmacy. Do I go pick it up and taper off or keep going since I'm already this far in? Help me please.
Avatar n tn You also need a good sleeve and gauntlet to help keep the swelling down while you travel. They can also show you some manual drainage techniques and some pretty wicked bandaging to get the swelling down.
8594632 tn?1410183693 m a ftm so no but in mii lamaze class I had last week that was one of the techniques to start labor nd calm u during labor
Avatar m tn Also, there was a female doctor that sold a CD describing the proper techniques for this. Depending upon the technique done in your case, things should get back to normal fairly soon. If not, after a week, you should get checked out with your doctor or urologist.
