Avatar f tn I recently requested information from the place I am getting help from and I was reading their off official word on me and it was Bipolar 1/MRE-manic, Severe with mood incongruent psychotic features. and Panic attack with Agorophobia. 915369 tn?1355314810 I've been questioning my diagnosis for the past couple of months so I figured I'd ask on this forum and see what a doctor thinks about it. I was seeing a psychiatrist for a few years but she stopped seeing me after diagnosing me with borderline personality disorder. She also diagnosed me with dysthymia, social anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive features.
Avatar n tn When I was younger before my diagnosis I had similar psychotic features and I was treated for major depression with psychotic features. I was treated with anti depressants and anti pyschotics. Unfortunately the anti d's triggered rapid cycling and lithium was then added to the mix. If it helps I no longer hear voices, it stopped around age 20. Now during an episode I have classic bipolar features.

Avatar m tn The difference between BP1 and BP2 is that BP1 has more Manic episodes with psychotic features/hospitalizations or have placed the person in danger. BP2 are more likely to be hypo-manic fewer full blown manic episodes. It doesn't matter both are very difficult, can be life threatening and treatable. It's important to get treatment as early as possible if possible and if stable try to stick with a plan that is working.

3579868 tn?1348739509 I know of four bipolar 1 with or without psychotic features, bipolar 2, bipolar nos, and cyclothimia. With bipolar 1 you get full blown mania and major depression, with bipolar 2 you get hypomania and major depression. cyclothimia fluctuates between minor depression and hypomania. Bipolar nos is where they put you when you obviously show some symptoms of bipolar disorder but they do not know which classification to put you in.
Avatar f tn Bipolar has no aspects of psychosis. With bipolar with psychotic features, during a period of moodswings (mania, depression) a person has auditory hallucinations (hears voices) or visual hallucations or has delusions (perceives things that are not in reality). With schizoaffective disorder, a person can have hallucinations or delusions even when the mood is euthymic (normal).

ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO I STOPPED TAKING MY MEDICATIONS, AND THINGS SEEMED TO BE GETTING BETTER, HOWEVER MY ONE LINGERING PROBLEM WAS UNCONTROLLABLE INSOMNIA. NO MATTER WHAT DRUG MY DOCTORS PUT ME ON MY BODY QUICKLY REJECTED, AND EVEN HERBEL SUPPLEMENTS SUCH AS VALERIAN, 5HTP GAVE ME SUCH BAD REACTIONS I SOON FOUND MYSELF IN A PATTERN OF SLEEPING MAYBE 1-2 HOURS A DAY OR EVERY FEW DAYS.
