In the last year or so, I have developed pain wiht typing. The pain occurs in the my shoulder, my neck and my upper back, especially in my shoulder blades and under my arms in the rib area. Also the pain seems to be worse on my right side from the side of my neck down to my right shoudler and shoulder blade. I also get a knot in the middle of my back. I have tried PT to strengthen my back, but with no help. The pain kept returning. I have tried antiinflammatories and muscle relaxers.
I have been taking both medicines and medical treatment for last 5 days along with PT and wearing soft collar but no relief, I still feel mild pain in the left side of the shoulder meeting spinal area. I wanted to ask:
1. Should i consult to orthopedic OR neuro physician OR surgeon?
2. Can it heal permanently and what is the time of healing?
3. Is it really serious?
I have had mild osteoarthritis in my right hand, of and on. Now I have knee pain, both knees, elbow pain, foot pain (orthotics (4 diff pairs) haven't helped). Not severe enough to take meds.
Have been sleeping on a magnetic mat for 3 years. Doesn't seem to help. Have been going to osteopath, masseur, acupuncturist, nutritionist (treating inflammation). No real relief.
Other issue (related?) is poor blood circulation (circulatory disorder). Not overweight (120lbs at 5'4.
have been told I can not have an MRI because of metal in my neck. I now want to use magnets to help alleviate shoulder impingement and muscle tension in upper back. ( I have experienced tremendous relieve from carpel tunnel pain by wearing magnetic bracelet). I am nervous about wearing a magnet on my shoulder - or on upper back - due to metal in my neck. Any suggestions?
Went to phisio, which helped with the initial horrible pain, but now I still have shoulder and upper shoulder blade pain, and also neck pain, occasionally along with it.There are times when the pain is still felt in my chest as well, although numerous trips to the hospital has assured me that mu heart is fine.(still a very scary feeling!)I also occasionally have a numbness in my left arm. Please help with suggestions!!! I've had an MRI done on my neck, and that was fine too.
Went to emergency with severe pain in right shoulder, up into the neck and down the right arm (woke up with it). Have been on 500 mg. Naproxen , twice daily, for 3 weeks, and 10 mg. Pms-cyclobenzaprine every 8 hours. I'm still experiencing pain plus some new tingling down the arm. Should I be going back to my doctor? It seems this is taking an unusually long time to get better.
wow...your MRI is almost identical to mine, but i have more discs involved. I too have hernaited discs pressing on the nerves with spinal stenosis and narrowing of the spinal cord. I have been in constant pain for 37 years. I have tried many many things, to no avail, and the specialists all say i cannot have surgery on certain discs, as it would be too dangerous and life threatening.
I laid on the floor for TWO HOURS and used one of those hard rubber massage balls with spikes on it to finally rid myself of the pain once and for all all over my back, neck and shoulder joints. As I did this, I was crying with pain. It was a "good" pain, though, like I was finally getting rid of this pain that I'd felt trapped with for so many years.
After post-op pain subsided, notice relief in upper shoulder and down inside of arm to thumb, but now still have shoulder pain, upper arm pain, exterior lower arm pain, middle and ring finger numbness and general arm weakness. No second MRI was ever done since Nov. 09, and while still working had "traumatic" arm pain, which sent me to Neurosurgeon. Are other discs seen when surgery performed, or could I have additional herniated discs. RN at post-op appt.
I sometimes experience shoulder pain, pain radiating to my left breast and tingling pain in my thumb. I don't know if taking vitamin B12 and using ice and cold patches will be good for you but they certainly help me. Maybe you can ask your doctor before trying. I hope and pray for your fast recovery.
One day recently, I woke up with pain in my right arm muscle area between my shoulder and my elbow.This pain continued for some weeks. I was barely able to lift my arm.
I use the computer a lot and thought perhaps it might be a strain from holding my arm in the position while working the mouse.

i 've had neck & shoulder pain for over 2 weeks and is getting worse everyday. my doctor gave two injections, one in back of neck and one on top of shoulder. my shoulder joint is swollen and the tingling is so intense it is also painful. i am diabetic and have high bp. the prednisone rose my sugar to a dangerous level and had to be discontinued. i can't take this pain no longer. i ready to go to hospital and asked to be admiited for some relief from this pain.
It started with what was dianosed as "tennis elbow" cortisone (2 times) did not help, now it has progressed to my shoulder (the elbow is still bad), again cortisone did not help, I can not do much with the arm so injury is unlikely. Night is the worst as the pain spreads to the muscle between the shoulder and elbow and wakes me after a few hours sleep.
I have pain in between the shoulder blade of my left shoulder when i put my arm up and stretch to the right i can feel the pain between increasing,also i have problems in sitting without support to my neck ,i get neck pain neat to the top part of the shoulder and the point where neck joins the spine.Also i feel that my lower left shoulder is unrelaxed when sitting,always causes kind of tied up feeling.
I had gone to a doctor x rays of the neck and shoulder were fine.
i brought her a magnetic neck brace to ease the pain it dose subside it only to the extent it does not reach migrane levels. she is an office worker in front of computer aswell which i guess compounds this issue. .she has a past active history of trampoline competitve involvement and also water sking too. would perhaps an injection at base skull for muscle relaxant be helpful .??
I had several disks fused in my neck in 2006 and shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in 2010. My pain is in the upper part of my neck radiating both down into my shoulder and into the area where my skull meets my neck creating a wicked head ache! Chiropractors won't touch me because of the plate in my neck. I've tried TENS units to no avail and massage therapy as well. I'm just absolutely exhausted! The pain in unbearable.
