Yes, I also got a prescription for an antibiotic, and looked it up, it was class c, I talked to my doctor about it, and he refused to give me anything different, my new doctor gave me macrobid, it's class b (safest you're going to get) and worked great, you'll be fine!!

I posted this question on the wrong community board so am reposting here. I was prescribed macrobid for a UTI. I've always been prescribed bactrim or amoxycillan or the like. But for some reason my dr. put me on this drug. I do not have frequent UTIs. I had severe heart palpitations, hot and cold feelings, and felt like I would faint. I read that this should not be prescribed to an older adult with any debilitating condition. I have severe anemia and some internal bleeding somewhere.

As for UTI's - I am on a prophylactic dose of macrobid and it has worked very well. The bactrim worked too but my urogyno wanted to use a drug that isn't needed for other infections and Macrobid fits that description. I have been UTI free for about 18 months or so. Good luck in finding the right balance - it takes some time but can be done.
I just recently went to the ER for severe pain in my back, stomach, and burning upon urination whenever that was; meaning sometimes I didn't...I'm diabetic but lately I've had 7 uti's just this year alone but this is the first time I've ever been put on Macrobid...usually this drug is given for kidney or bladder infections...
She had a severe allergic reaction to levaquin back in september, but recent rash did not begin until feb. She was taking macrobid for kidney infection in jan. but rash did not begin until feb. she has seen primary care, infectious disease control and allergy doctos and none of them can tell her what it is or what causes it. Biopsy says bacterial fungus, but steroids and antibiotics not helping.

I discovered about 2 weeks ago my boyfriend had another partner who he swears was clean about 6 weeks ago. We had intercourse(unprotected) prior to me finding out recently. Around the same time my uti symptoms started up again.
So I went to the Doctor on monday morning. He took a urine specimen and gave me Macrobid. I took all the antibotic and still did not feel well. So I went back to doctor and took another urine specimen and gave me Bactrium (a Sulpha drug). I took all the antibotic and still did not feel well. I went back to doctor and he told me that there were no signs of infections in urine just blood (was not on period). He gave me another round of Macrobid.
I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... Did anyone take macrobid for uti during third trimester?
Uti or bladder infection. My doctor proscribed me macrobid. Terrified to take it, anyone else had to use this while pregnant, I'm only 8 weeks!
