So me and my fiancé has unprotected sex 2-3days ago, I am on birth Control. Well I went to the doctors for get Antibiotics called Macrobid for my UTI. I am to get pregnant? Be that the Antibiotics make the pill unefftive the doctor said it won’t but I don’t know ...I’m scared I am not ready for a baby. Will I be fine?
Does the antibiotic macrobid used to treat uti's decrease the effectiveness of birth control? Because I'm on the pill and I shouldn't get my period for another week and I've been bleeding.. This makes me nervous because while taking macrobid I had sex without a condom, he pulled out, but I know that's not always a safe alternative either.
I know that during early pregnancy bleeding isn't uncommon. I'm scared out of my mind..
i have read that it lowers the effectiveness but i have also read that it doesnt happen until you reach doses of 200mg or more. i have also heard that by increasing your birth control dose you can help the effectiveness and my doctor specifically prescribed lutera because it has a higher dosage than most BC. can anyone give me some more info because every where i go i seem to be getting different information, even from doctors.
I am eighteen years old, and although the doctor wasn't thrilled about giving me mirena she did it. For the most part they just don't want to give it to young people because we may not all be in monogomous relationships (or at least that was what was explained to me). It was painful for the first week and I bled for probably a month after I got it, but trust me if you can make it past that it is great! I haven't had my period since then!
Has anyone been perscribed, or taken macrobid at the ens of there pregnancy? I was proscribed it. I habe two different drs and im.being induced monday. And it DIRECTLY states dont use it 37 weeks or later or close to delivery. .. im scared and this pregnancy is so freaking hard on me. Im getting to the point of giving up. And i dont want to cause my boy and family need me to fight.
I called Alli before starting to use their product and they assurred me that it would not interfere with my birth control. I take my birth control RELIGIOUSLY and have not missed , however this month my period is very very light. Can Orlistat and the pill be taken together without causing the pill to be ineffective?
And since Agnus Castus has an effect on hormones, my guess is that there would be some interaction between it and antibiotics. At best, it would just be canceled out like birth control. But the interaction could be bad as well.
I would suggest to stop taking the Agnus Castus while taking the antibiotics. I highly doubt that your Dr. would know the interaction, but it's always worth a try!
I take the mini pill birth control and did not do any emergency contraceptive afterwards because I’m on birth control ,and the concerns kicked in about the antibiotics possibly affecting the mini pill birth control. As you mentioned before about ovulation not happening right before your period and during it, that brought on a sense of relief! Again, thank you!
Ugh. Doctors these days! I'm 18, and have never been to Med school, how come I know more about this than my stinkin doctor? Excuse me for feeling this way, but why can't I slap a stinkinf MD before.my name and get paid for.doing what they obviously aren't?! And when I went to pick up my medicine at the pharmacy, the tech guy asked me "Are you on birth control?" I'm 6 and a half months pregnant!
I still have another week till my next period and I just started birth control about 3 weeks ago and have had intense soccer practices for 2 weeks now. I had sex about a month ago (right before I went on birth control) but we used a condom and I'm almost positive it didn't break. So I don't know whats wrong... but the blood in worring me.
There are 2 reasons an antibiotic would affect birth control. 1. The medications interact with each other (the antibiotic decreases hormone levels in the body) and 2. The antibiotic kills bacteria in the GI track that are involved with the body's recycling of estrogen - which could "theoretically" have an effect on birth control effectiveness. This is why we tell women to use a back-up method even if there is no known "interaction".
I'm confused here. You had unprotected sex while on a pretty powerful medication that can affect birth control... but you didn't say what type of birth control you are on.
Could you specify what type of BC you are on?
I take Junel fe 1/20 birth control pill at pretty much the same time every day. I have been having lots of sex without any other protection. I have also been on 3 different antibiotics in the past month which I’m not sure if they affect the pill or not. I am suppose to start my period in a few days but I have been having lower cramping at night, breast tenderness and nausea up to a week & 1/2 before my period which is not normal for me.
DOES MACROBID CAUSE BLEEDING OR MAKE YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE COME EARLY. I JUST FINISHED MACROBID 7 DAY TREATMENT. MY MENSTRUAL CAME 3 DAYS EARLY AND THERE IS BRIGHT RED BLOOD AND USUALLY MY MENSTRUAL BLOOD IS NOT THAT BRIGHT. I INITIIALLY WASNT DUE FOR MY MENSTRUAL UNTIL YESTERDAY I'VE BEEN BLEEDING SINCE THE 3RD AND IM STILL BLEEDING BUT NOT ALOT LIKE I WAS YESTERDAY AND THE DAYS BEFORE BUT THE BLEEDING HAS LIGHTENED.
Update 6mos later. Frothy acidic urine with sediment continues and is yellower than it routinely was prior to the UTI. Still have to do intermittent cleansing (sterile water wipes) after peeing, and I gulp a glass of diet cranberry juice whenever I feel that first 'flea' bite.

Almost about a week ago, I went to the ER because I had no control over my bladder one night and when I went to the bathroom a lot of blood was coming out. I am 19 years old, female, and I’ve dealt with UTI’s all my life. The doctor told me I could have a kidney infection based on the symptoms. He prescribed me Cephalexin for 10 days. The bleeding stopped and the pain after urination. I decided after day 4 to switch to Macrobid and it is day 3 and I still have mild urgency. What do I do?
I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this? It is getting rather annoying and saddens me cause it feels like i cant do anymore what i like to. If anyone has had the same thing happen, please let me know im not alone... How can the weakness and numbness be stopped.
I found out tuesday that i have a pretty horribly UTI after swearing i had a yeast infection. I was put on Macrobid 1 pill twice a day for 7 days. This is day is day 3 of the pills and i was wondering how long until it starts working? i am not in nearly as much pain as I was, but the pain with urination is still there slightly and get worse at night.
