About 20 yrs ago he finally got hearing aids and was able to hear much better. But then about 6 mos ago he got up one morning and could not hear at all in his left ear. He went to the doctor right away and was told that he had "sudden hearing loss". The doctor said that sometimes within a month or so, the hearing comes back, but his did not.
Avatar n tn The person is a year and a half through physical therapy and recovery, 150 mg of Lyrica per day, co q10, and a muscle relaxer 2 mg at night. The person is experiencing extreme muscle spasms from waist down, which sometimes respond to Tylenol, 1000mg. Avatar m tn Is it safe to use the IQoro neuromuscular training device in my situation? The device works by increasing negative pressure within the esophageal tract and I'm conscious that the negative pressure may cause the diverticulum to bulge, or increase in size. Any advice very welcome.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried this technology yet? I was hit with Sudden Hearing Loss (Left ear) Nov.2012. After a 30 day prednisone treatment (horrible experience), I recovered some hearing with terrible tinnitus. I did some research and found this new technology. I visited an audiologist who introduced this to me and I'm trying it out for the tinnitus. The Neuromonics device looks like an I-pod and plays great classical and new age "spa music" that is adjusted to the pitch of your tinnitus.

My audiology tests revealed a slight sensory neural hearing loss in my left ear. What is your opinion of using the neuromonic device for treating tinnitus?
Avatar f tn I reported that I am having shooting pain from my buttocks to my toes, with some weakness on both legs, and also from my arms to my fingers. So, the doctor doubled my dosage of Lyrica, which I should actually take for two weeks. I saw on my medical certificate that she's considering sciatica. Today is the third day of my intensive Lyrica treatment.
Avatar f tn Many find relief by playing background music to mask tinnitus. Some people use a tinnitus masker, a device worn like a hearing aid that produces pleasant sounds, especially while trying to sleep. My dad used one of these and found relief for the first time in many years! While tinnitus in and of itself IS most often harmless, there are some underlying disorders that produce tinnitus as a sort of "warning device," and these disorders require medical attention sooner than later.
Avatar m tn I had severe to profund sudden hearing loss in the right ear with roaring tinnitus on 25th Nov 2013. Steroid therapy started within 12 hours and later intera tympanic injections for 1 month but no recovery. I live in Pakistan. In Feb 2014 i went to USA where doctors advised that the best possible option for me is to get a cochlear implant (CI). I have also consulted doctors in Europe and Pakistan and they are also of the view that i should get a CI since would also help in reducing tinnitus.
1740498 tn?1328962585 As we age, are we really gonna have this hearing loss experience? What is the main reason or cause of this? And how can we prevent it? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hello and hope you are doing well. The typical course of tinnitus involves habituation over time, people tend to get used to the sound. Otherwise, treatment for tinnitus lies in treating the underlying cause. Sometimes "white noise" may help suppress the sound so that it's less bothersome using an electronic device. They are white noise machines, hearing aids, masking devices and tinnitus retraining with a training device. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn What are the best medications and treatment options? Any information would be a really huge help. Currently I am taking Methadone, Lyrica, Cesamet, Baclofen, Citalopram as well as Hydromorphone for breakthrough. The drugs help control the pain but my condition seems to be slowly getting worse and worse and I am scared to say the least. Please help, Don T.

Avatar n tn I do not your age and your loss %, whether the aid is only hearing sound enlarging device or digital with speech fine tuning provision. Also whether u r a regular user and the working (sound) environment. These are some of the contributing factors for sound. As for ur sinus, it can block ears. Wax in ear also contribute for ear loss. You may preliminarily try steam inhalation - to get relieved from your blocked ears and clear wax, if any, without damaging the drum. It may help u partly.
Avatar n tn I am diabetic and have been prescribed Lyrica for nerve pain. I am hearing contradictory opinions about the safety of Lyrica in a recovering addict. I would rather live with the pain than relapse. Has anyone had any experience with this?

My hearing loss is all the high frequencies, about 8,000 hertz. That means I can hear well enough not to have a problem with moving around in public and driving a car, as examples. I can hear a train or turck coming as well as the next guy, but the sound of "spring peepers", no I don't hear them.

Avatar n tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Tinnitus occurs with disorders affecting the external, the middle or the inner ear. In the outer ears cerumen impaction or external otitis, in the middle ear fluid collection or disease of the tympanic membrane and in the inner ear damage to the nerve endings can cause tinnitus. As a result of these disorders the external sounds are masked leading to awareness of normal body sounds. Treatment lies in treating the underlying cause.

874521 tn?1424116797 I have had it for 12 years or so. I have adjusted to it but it took a few years in my case. In my case, it faded into the background about 10 years ago - but then came back with a vengeance 3 years ago when my air-bags deployed. You might try "tinnitus retraining therapy" - where "TRT" trained audiologists give you a "hearing aid" like device which makes either white or pink noise for a number of hours a day.
