Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica headaches

lyrica

Avatar n tn I just started taking Lyrica for sciatic pain secondary to herniated discs. I've taken two 75-mg doses so far. On the second night, I was awakened by excruciating pain in my right leg, worse than what I was having pre-Lyrica. Has anyone experienced an increase in his/her nerve pain after starting Lyrica?
Avatar f tn t respond to my imitrex or midrin like my migranes do. the Lyrica has helped take the edge off but I still have headaches almost daily and they tend to put me in bed. I went to a neurlogist and when she heard that the lyrica helped some she said she would see me in 6 months. That was it. Does anyone have any idea what else I can try to find out what is causing these headaches?!
937140 tn?1246013288 I suggest that you the severity of your headaches and the way the disrupt your life with the physician that prescribes the lyrica for you. If you explain your lack of insurance and the pain of your headaches he may be helpful. There is a Headache/Migraine Forum on MH of you would like to post there in addition to our forum. Weekends can be a bit slow in posts and responses so it may take a bit. Best of luck to you. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.
1088430 tn?1259159773 Hi! I'm hoping that anyone here who is taking Lyrica for nerve pain will be able to answer something for me...I'm newly on Lyrica (300mg daily) for chronic migraines/headaches and alot of burning that I've been having in my head. Neurologist gave Lyrica instead of Topamax b/c he said there's more than just the migraine issue going on b/c of all the burning. However, it's still officially undiagnosed at the present. I'm having very positive results so far.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibro. last year.. Every part of my body aches.. You name the med to relieve the pain I've tried it..I finally got a rheumatologist last year and was diagnosed..She decided to medicate me with Lyrica and I've now been on it for almost 6 months.. When I had to go see her in early March because of extreme pain she requested blood work, cat scan and bone scan.
Avatar f tn Similarly lack of sleep can also aggravate headaches. I hope any visual defects have been ruled out. Headaches can be tension headaches, the commonest of the lot, the others are migrainous headaches, those caused due to brain disorders, disorders of the eyes , neck or ears to name a few. To find a cure you need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking lyrica on Saturday AM. Starting on Sunday I was naseous, had headaches and no appetite. The worst is the pin prick skin sensation. Has anyone had this before if so what helps or makes it go away? I tried Benadryl last night but it did t help. How long does lyrica withdrawal last?
Avatar f tn ve heard both good and bad reports about those taking Lyrica. The results would depend upon your body and dosage. Lyrica has numerous side-effects (there is an article in our Health Pages regarding this). It can make one feel dizzy and off balance and also causes cognitive problems. I was taking it with good pain results, but not enough to offset the way it made me feel, so I discontinued it. If it isn't helping your pain at all it may not be beneficial for you to continue taking it.
6726276 tn?1421126668 is getting lighter, and I DO NOT have any headaches anymore! I am taking my normal meds and with the additional Lyrica for Fibromyalgia and the MR- Tizanidine. My pain went from a 10+ to 0. When I start to feel pain or headaches, I now step back and see if I am holding on to something that is stressing me or causing anxiety.
Avatar f tn After years of going from doctor to doctor, I was introduced to Lyrica in 2007. This medication is a wonderful miracle drug foir me. They prevent the headaches from coming as often and when they do come they are not as severe. Praise God. I take Imetrix 100mg tablets when I feel one coming on but if I wait too late, I have to give myself the Imetrix injection. They come in a kit and not hard to do at all. Hey it is better than the headache and doens't last as long too boot.
Avatar m tn on the 5th of this May I experienced the worst headache i've ever experienced in my life (like a knife in my eye). it started @ 9am & ended @ 5 pm. the next day was worse.... and worse the next, and worse the next -each day they aways start @ 9am & end @ 5 pm (none of the 5 doc's who've seen me can explain why they start & stop so consistantly to the hour). from 9 to 10 is the ramp up time, from 10 to 4 was complete agony, from 4 to 5 ramp down.
Avatar f tn Were your headaches associated with any visual symptoms before? For how long have you been experiencing the headaches? Given that you have been properly assessed, this may sound like migraine aura. However, there are several factors to consider here: Your age, a positive family history of stroke, heart problems, diabetes, and smoking history may suggest further evaluation. When was the last time you have been thoroughly evaluated?
Avatar m tn Lyrica is still one of the newer ones but works really well. I take Topamax and Lyrica. I take Topamax for headaches and Lyrica for neuropathic pain. My pain is well controlled but they do have their side effects.
Avatar f tn I just posted about my neuropathy pain. I am also on Lyrica. It is the only thing that keeps me going without going crazy. I also have it in my hands and the Lyrica doesn't do much for them. I haven't had headaches (knock on Wood), but can emphatize with you on the other. What type doctor prescribed your Lyrica? I saw my podiatrist when this all started, although I knew it was chemo induced, because I also have diabeties and needed the assurance that it was not from that.
Avatar f tn HI and welcome to the Chiari/Syringomyelia forum. Wow, I can not imagine what it must have been like trying to find a chiari dr back then as it is soooo difficult to find one now! As Lizzy mentioned in the above post, it is possible that ur herniation has dropped or, u may have developed scar tissue that could be causing a CSF blockage and lastly it could be ur syrinx. Have u had constant pain since the surgery that u r on those meds? If so, I also have to ask, when was ur last MRI?.....
Avatar m tn It seems to me my medication is actually making my anxiety worse and causing my awful headaches. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have been in since bad shape for months. Don't bother to tell me to talk to my doctor. I have been to him month after month. A yr ago he said I would be off my medication in 6 mo. Then he changed and said I had an anxiety disorder. He tells me the pressure I feel in my head and the awful headaches are from anxiety.
Avatar f tn t take it long b/c I noticed nothing. I just started taking Lyrica 75mg 3x a day started about almost 2 weeks ago. I am confused b/c I know that Lyrica can cause some really big side effects and I can't tell if I am having w/d from detoxing off of fentanyl or is it Lyrica. I know it causes major weight gain and I don't need that. I know a girl who has been on it for a year and has my same med. problems.
Avatar f tn We are going for a follow-up this Friday. Lindsey is still having headaches but not so severe. She is taking Lyrica now up to 150 mg twice a day. She is 16 and does need to be reminded to take her medicine. She forgets regulary to take it. Although she did have a bad spell last Thursday that lasted a day or so but she could ignore the headache for the most part of the day but she did loose her sight again. She is having nightmares and she has never done that before.
620923 tn?1452915648 I've never used Topamax, but it's similar to Lyrica, which I am on. Lyrica helps me out a lot. Understand that it's not like a regular "pain pill". You need to keep it in your system for it to work right - don't try and just take it when you are hurting. That's not how it works.
Avatar f tn Hi...Gabapentin is not a generic for Lyrica, but Neurontin...Lyrica is used to treat Fibromyalgia....and many times chiari is mis-dx'd as Fibro...the symptoms for chiari r similar to many diff conditions which is y getting a dx can be diff and many drs r more familiar with the other conditions then they r with chiari, so they feel it can not be chiari. http://www.google.com/url?url=http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
