Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica for osteoarthritis

lyrica

Avatar f tn Hi... I was diagnosed with ostearthritis & fibromyalgia a few years ago...and have been taking mobic since then, which has worked. About a month ago, the mobic didn't seem to be working as well.. my hands were hurting a lot at work... so I went back to my dr & he changed my medicine to relafen for the osteoarthritis & lyrica for the fibromyalgia. Although the lyrica seems to work, I'm not liking the side effects, puffy hands & feet & eye twitching...
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi again, it turns out my xray was not negative. I have facet joint osteoarthritis (mild) degeneration. I don't know if that is causing the pain so I am getting a MRI tomorrow. I hope I can stay still for 30 minutes. I don't 6I can take Lyrica as it interacts with my drug clonazepam, that I use for my abdominal migraines. I was on neurontin before. But it didn't interact with the clonazepam. It may lower the pain a bit. I was also thinking of Amitriptyline.
761423 tn?1237203290 Good morning everyone! I am new to MedHelp and to the group and thank you for the warm welcomes! I have a question about treatment for fibro. I was dx with it about 4 years ago. Tried the usual things like Ibuprofen and Tylenol, etc. which was temporary. Finally last month my doctor started me on Lyrica. Although the pain is diminished quite a bit, I feel like I am in a fog most of the time and it does nothing for my other symptoms, like depression/mood swings/etc.
874521 tn?1424116797 t wait to be done with this Lyrica!!! Before the Lyrica I was on Cymbalta and only stayed in that for about a year and had to quit it bc it was making me feel bi-polar, my moods were all over the place and so much crying!! I was definately suicidal, and suffered from bad "zaps" like sticking your finger in a socket except it would zap and jerk me all over especially I'm my head/brain leading to migraines.
Avatar n tn Did they not prescribe some Neurontin or Lyrica for your nerve pain? The only thing I can think of would be Advil or Motrin, which would help with nerve inflammation. If you are unable to take prescription meds, you might would want to look into reflexology or accupuncture. Have you had an MRI yet? I am very sorry that you are experiencing this pain.
Avatar f tn ( Although I do have RA and osteoarthritis. While I was in thge hospital the doctor told me that I woud have pain regardless of what was done because the osteo was so bad in my joints, and the RA in my hands. My feet and ankles also swell. I hope you find out what's causing the swelling.
1706119 tn?1307674090 Years ago I tried Lyrica for the pain of fibro and it helped greatly. Then I went off it when I got some great relief and didn't need anything for a while. More recently (a year or so ago) I tried the Lyrica again and it put on weight on me really fast (came off when I went off it.) Now I'm trying a bit of Neurontin to see if it will help with both the fibro and the RSD. Not sure yet how much it's helping. Fibro can be a difficult path.
Avatar m tn Yep, Lyrica has given me back my life! What is most important is to start at a very low dose and move up as you feel you need it. I started at 75mg once a day and am now at 150 mg twice a day. Good luck.
1459410 tn?1285695005 I have taken ibuprofen for weeks at a time in the past for the osteoarthritis in my jaws. I try to take it sparingly for it now. But I get frequent heartburn and was recently put on cytotec generic, which is supposed to help with stomach lining. I have tried acupuncture, which I thought helped some, herbal heat pack, ice, valium, ibuprofen and wear a flat-planed splint for my jaw osteoarthritis.
543791 tn?1216381777 Hi I been on lyrica for about 5 years now for neuropathy and nerve pain. I too had a reaction to gabapentin . The lyrica has been a god send the pain in my legs was a constant 8-10 on the pain scale the only side effect I had has been weight gain but I rather have that than pain.my body is building up a resistance to the med now but until The pain becomes a constant reminder I will stick with it I dont know what else is out there for me to try. May I ask why you are terrified of it?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed several years ago with hypermobility (7/9 on Beighton scale) but I now have excruciating joint and muscle pain for which I take Lyrica. My hips are very lax and slip in and out very easily, I'm forever spraining and twisting things... I also have scoliosis and have had osteoarthritis since I was 18, and degenerative disc disease since my adolescence. I have chronic IBS, acid reflux and swings in blood pressure (unexplained by other tests).
Avatar f tn My eyes blureed before Lyrica. The headaches came after Lyrica. My dizziness left with Lyrica. The common denominator here is that I was taking Neurontin before changing to Lyrica. I found that when I took Nerontin regularly I put on weight, but the pain and flu like symptoms decreased enough to notice the difference.
Avatar n tn If you have osteoarthritis then have acupuncture for pain relief
Avatar m tn I have pain in the right knee for two years now. X-rays show lack of fluid in the knee. Thus giving lot of pain. I have tried all sorts of therapies, but to no effect. I am now thinking of either get a shot or replace the knees. The left knee is also on the brink. I have to use pain killers. Please advise about taking a shot if I should take a shot of Synvisc-One. This discussion is related to Changing from Supartz to Synvisc-One shots.
Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
Avatar m tn t think that is what you are looking for. What symptoms are you experiencing now? What treatment has the doctor prescribed? What area of your body is effected?

Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
1100837 tn?1267668675 Have you tried Plaquinel? If so, does it help you? Is it prescribed for RA or Fibro? Is it any different from Lyrica?
372680 tn?1228161610 i took this for a couple of months and found that it did not change much.
Avatar n tn lyrica is mostly for nerve pain..I just had fusion...lyrica is of little help..side effects are not great..dizziness, loss of concentration etc..
