Lyrica for anxiety and depression

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica for anxiety and depression

lyrica

Avatar m tn I have had GREAT SUCCESS using Lyrica for anxiety. It was prescribed to me for Fibromyalgia, and I was talking klonopin for anxiety. The 2 mixed together made me nod out. I stopped taking klonopin and had no withdrawals or depression from stopping cold turkey after taking anxiety medicine for years. The Lyrica prevented those withdrawals. Lyrica is a miracle drug for me. It helps both my Fibromyalgia and anxiety. Lyrica even enhances my mood and clears my mind. I am up to 300 mg 2x a day.
Avatar m tn I have tried several different types of medication for stress and anxiety and depression brought on by anxiety, due to the nature of my work. I have always battled to sleep. Every SSRI and Benzo had adverse affects on me and I was far worse after taking them. I have tried Cipralex, Efexor, Fluanxol, Xanor (Xanax), Rivotril, Seroquel, Ritalin, Wellbutrin, Esperide. All had horrible side effects and and had to stop and try something else.
Avatar m tn i suffer from these three things. depression and stress for a long time. extreme anxiety this past month. can these disorders cause fibromyalgia?
358486 tn?1294776388 I was diagnosed with fibro a year ago but have had it for 12 years, and have been on celexa for yearS, it didnt help one thing! I switched to Cymbalta 60mg 4 weeks ago and have much less fatigue and anxiety. They are in the same family of anti-depressants SSRI which increase "feel good" hormones in your body, but i feel cymbalta works much better!! Im hoping to also start Lyrica as well. Let me know if you have any questions.

Avatar m tn I suffer from depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), with anxiety and panic attacks for two years. I suppose depression arised from the fact that both my daughters were forced to immigrate because of the economic crisis of my homeland. Anyway, i tried Cipralex, Cymbalta, Seroxat, Effexor even and the combo Effexor with Remeron (California rocket fuel) but without great results. In fact, some of these meds, made me worse. Only Xanax relieves me.
645390 tn?1338555377 (granted I know she is a psychologist...and most pts. most likely see her for some sort of depression/anxiety.) She know of other cases also, and feels Pfizer will have enough law suits to make this more known to the public. Anyway, just wanted to let u all know that. It is a great drug for many, as far as pain is involved, but of there is a history of depression, it can make it worse.
Avatar f tn I don't have any experience with lyrica but I do however have a love hate relationship with tramadol so I know what you are going through with it. I stopped after a quick taper not long ago. It was very hard. I ended up having to see a psychiatrist after I developed sone depression and anxiety. I am now on an antidepressant and neurontin for anxiety. It's not easy but I get better and better everyday. The struggle is real and you have to find the strenghth within to say no more.
Avatar f tn Also I am very disconcerted over the fact that he gave me a crapload of cymbalta and asked me if I had ever been treated for anxiety or depression. I shared that the baby was depressing and my choice was regretted sadly but after a couple of months that went away like I am hoping the physical pain will. I am not sure the cymbalta will help me if I am not depressed. Does it do anything for pain?
Avatar f tn I have been taking 150mg x2 of lyrica for 6 months, My mood has been affected tremendously, depression, anxiety, not wanting to do anything. I have had enough! I stopped taking my first dose of 150mg immediately and haven't had any issues, I plan on continuing to stop cold turkey. I would rather have my life back than be on this medication.
Avatar m tn ive been clean off of oxy for 2 weeks with every withdrawal effect slowly residing one by one. except the anxiety and depression. i find myself constantly thinking about death and over thinking basically everything. im scared to go to public places for fears of being embarassed somehow. this has definately crippled my social life and its sending me into a depression spiral which is getting worse. how long will it take for these psychological effects to pass?
Avatar m tn by Dr Carolyn Dean is an excellent book to read up on anxiety and depression..the hows and the whys and how to cure it. it is not just to treat the symptoms but to go to the bottom of it and cure the source. Mg is involved in 300 body enzyme processes that lack of it will cause literally hundreds of symptoms, grouped as Mg Deficiency. In short, best Mg to take is Mg Glycinate with Vit D3. Hope it helps, but give it time.

Avatar f tn Will keep seeing shrink cause I feel she can help me with pain coping skills and my depression, anxiety, panic attacks. But I did look up some of my meds on computer and 4 of them could cause severe leg muscle pain and swelling. Took myself off them & family dr switched several and told me not to take the Lyrica. The "concrete calf & swelling is getting better but of course rest of fibro worse esp. neck. Does anyone know if TENS unit or acupunture would help?
Avatar f tn My. my it seems as though you cannot take medication, period, to have so many reactions to everything the doc prescribes. When I first read your thread, I thought Lyrica is the answer. Sure enough, that's the first thing the doc prescribed. It's really too bad you can't tolerate it. I have Fibromyalgia, or let's just say I've had all of the symptoms. I asked for Lyrica (I'm a nurse) and lo, and behold, I'm a new person.
Avatar f tn Only thing to worry about with snris is they are stimulating because of their effect on norepeniphrine, so they're not usually used if anxiety is the main problem. If anxiety is the result of depression, that's a different story. Also, Pristiq is basically Effexor, so if the Effexor gave you problems, you might want to think about taking what is mostly the same thing updated to get more patent protection, kind of like Celexa and Lexapro. Not exactly the same drug, but very similar.
Avatar f tn this med does not work for anxiety, it can make it worse. i was on it for 2 months and could'nt sleep, eat and my anxiety was throught the roof. it really sounds like you need a different med. that nurse shoud'nt have treated you that way. take care.
1039200 tn?1314912008 Has anyone heard of Pregabalin (lyrica) for bipolar or anxiety? - my doctor wants me to try, but I have not heard about it before and would like to know if anyone here has tried it or knows anyone who has. Is it used as a mood stabiliser? - I can't find it on the web site ILADVOCATE recomended me a long time ago, does this mean it's not a mood stabiliser or just a new brand?
Avatar f tn I did not contiue the Lyrica and only tried the Cymbalta for a few days ----- they were samples and should probably go back and finish them up. With so many scares in the prescribed medecines these days, i am leery of taking anything but the Trazadone does have some history by now. Seem to be having a good bit of trouble with the IBS and recently read that certin kinds of Calcium are consitpating. I had been talking a Bone Builder for Osteo and a Cal-mag also plus D.
Avatar f tn In the last month i started experiencing severe depression, insomnia, memory issues, mind fog and libido issues. My orthopedic specialist tried switching me to Lyrica for 3 months back in 2014 with horrible immediate side effects. Switched back to Gabapentin. I am asking if there is another neuropathic pain medication to use as an alternative to Gabapentin. I agree that the Gaba helps with nerve pain, however the side effects are scaring me.
Avatar n tn Prescribed 20 mg prozac for 15 years because I suffered from panic attacks. During my 15th yr. at 20mg prozac I suffered a panic attack and Dr. upped my dose to 40 then 60mg. Did not have another panic attack, but could not overcome the anticipatory fear of having another attack. Dr. included 50 BID of Lyrica three weeks ago and I'm feeling normal again. Anyone have any experience with lyrica?
Avatar f tn I cannot take lyrica or skalin or neurotin for my aches and pains i had such a headache from the lyrica and that was one pill low dose it was like i was on hallucigens the room was like a picture show and i had to do a 12 hr shift i told my boss my medication is not agreeing so if i had to leave they knew why soo then the skalin for muscle pain kept me a zombie i was in a fog with 1 pill and could not function for 12 hrs so the neurotin for my shingles neuroapathy was like bees stinging my
Avatar m tn Well its day 26 and I still have 12 Suboxone left and 4 Lyrica. I did good on one and poorly on the other.I am rather proud of myself and I read your post and experiences on ways to taper since my doctor doesn't care.My question is which should I try hardest to kick 1st? I see my doctor in 2 days and wonder what my next plan is and I am willing to do everything to beat this once and for all. I write down information, daily vitamins to take, I joined a gym.
1565420 tn?1304572548 I take Remeron for depression along with a low dose of Lyrica and Trazadone for sleeping. I do know that once the depression was under control that I could handle the pain and issues much better. I'm thinking of getting off of it but scared to mix things up since I've got the fibro managing pretty good right now.
Avatar m tn I took a 50 mg lyrica last night and I had a tired feeling most of the day. I told my dr I would try it for a week. I didn't want to get on anything that was going to be harder than loritab to get off of. I did ultam a couple of years ago and it was no fun when I stopped that. Thanks again for your reply.
