Lyrica dosage sleep

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica dosage sleep

lyrica

382218 tn?1341181487 A simple thing to try is the addition of a small dose of amitriptyline (20mg or less) at night. It can be great for additional nerve pain relief, but is a bit sedating so it is best used at night. I'm with your physician. If the Neurontin seems to be helping, but not enough, try it for several weeks and maybe request something to boost it a bit like the amitriptyline.
645800 tn?1466860955 Well I tried out the new lower dosage (50mg caps) of Lyrica last night. At least I wasn't so out of it that I didn't even remember going to bed. In fact quite the opposite. It took five hours for me to get sleepy enough to even try going to sleep and my vision got very blurry. But I'm not sure I can blame either on the Lyrica. I was kind of anxious about how this dosage would effect me due to what happened with the higher dosage.
Avatar m tn I was on 50 mg taken at night together with rivotril. My psychiatrist reduced my dosage of lyrica to 25mg. Apart from general anxiety, I understand it helps with pain and induces sleep. I sleep quite well now, and in the morning and day time, I don't feel too tired. My doctor feels lyrica suits me and I may be on it for a while longer. Does it help with your pain?
Avatar f tn I also took Lyrica for approx. 6 mos. My dosage was 75mg. per day. While it did help, I didn't care for the cognitive side-effects so I discontinued it. The dosage will be different depending upon what is being treated and how the drug interacts in your body. For some a small dose is effective; others will work up to the higher amts. over time. I hope it is effective for you and you get some relief soon.
1649807 tn?1301506020 Most likely it is the Lyrica. I had problems while on Lyrica with dizziness and sounds in my ears. Also, I coundn't sleep. I am back in pain and rather be than all the other side effects.
526311 tn?1229286330 t know how much I can help but my hubby takes Lyrica 600mg a day which is the maximum dosage. He is also on oxycontin, both for severe back pain. The oxycontin he craves and is addicted to (currently tapering down from) but the Lyrica he does not crave at all and sometimes doesn't take any at all during the day.
645800 tn?1466860955 The end result was he thinks this morning was the side effect of the Lyrica and did tell me that the dosage I was given as very high to start someone out on the drug. So he is putting in and RX for a lower dosage so that I can work myself slowly to the 150mg level. I'll have to just wait to see if they will actually dispense it since I had to go through H*LL in order to get the original RX filled. All of the stuff from this morning have resolved over today except for the blurry vision.
Avatar m tn has anyone ever been perscribed Lyrica for cronic pain. If so how much do you take, and how long did it take to notice any results. I started taking 50MG's 3X's a day. I started last Tuesday, and haven't noticed any difference in my pain. any feedback would be great.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Ask your dr if this is necessary. I switched last winter cold turkey. Both my neuro and my GP said this was fine. I was also told that the equivalent dose of Lyrica to 1800 mg of gabapentin (which is what I was taking) was 150 mg. So instead of taking 300 mg of gabapentin 6 times a day, I switched (all at once) to 50 mg of pregabalin.
1168718 tn?1464983535 the pain before was a 20 on the pain scale felt likea ice pick being jabbed into my legs over and over again.
14548893 tn?1435103687 Hi This is my first post. I have been diagnosed with having fibromyalgia for 11yrs. It was so bad in the beginning I could not get out of bed. The doctor put me on amitriptyline and it worked to the point that I could get around but made me very tired. I stopped taking the drug. I went on with life in constant pain but used meditation to help deal. I don't like taking drugs. So, about 3 months ago I started to have severe hip pain and could barely walk.
10704670 tn?1412128715 I'm wondering if one can build up a "tolerance" to a Lyrica dosage? I've been taking Lyrica for fibromyalgia for several years, and have been taking a low dosage of just 75 mg. once nightly. For over a month, now, I've been having achy joints in wrists, elbows, and feet -- along with ache behind my eyes, nervousness, and worst of all, "flu-like" feelings going throughout the body.
739070 tn?1338603402 This past week has involved 4 nights of excuriating bone pain , both femur and shin. The only relief is extra Lyrica which the neuro was already titrating upwards. I recently started PT but this is NOT muscular it is deep bone pain. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it neuropathic pain of some sort or have I finally gone off the deep end?
372680 tn?1228161610 ve only been on it two days, with a much lower dosage (was taking 1200mg gabapentin/day versus 75mg Lyrica once at night!) and much much much better results (I only take one or two 300mg gapabentins a day). The only down side is that it makes me sleepy, but I'm sure that will wear off a bit or completely once I'm used to it. The other thing is that while it makes me sleepy, it does not entirely combat my chronic insomnia, but it does make it easier to cope.
669241 tn?1236264344 Do any of you know if Lyrica is addicting? I suffer from class 2 Diabetes and I'am taking Lyrica for problems with foot discomfort. I was told that It may be addicting, But because it was a new med, that proof of that was not out yet. Any info on this would be helpful.
874521 tn?1424116797 you name it and with the added weight all it did was make me have more pain from all the pressure of carrying around that weight that compressed my spine which in turn made me go up and up in lyrica dosage to counteract the pain so it was just a vicious cycle. I am now in the stages of tapering of Lyrica and have already cut the dose down by a two-thirds in the past month and should be all done with it in the next 4 weeks.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken lyrica for fibromylasia and found increased pain instead of decrease?
559187 tn?1330782856 Lyrica is a low dosage anti-epileptic medication, used for non-epileptics who are experiencing neuropathic pain, i.e. pain derived from irritation of the nerves after the injury or crisis has healed. It is chemically different from an anti-depressant. If it has anti-depressant effects, this is a side-effect, and not the main indicatio for the drug. It was the side-effect of its reducing neuropathic pain that led it to being so widely prescribed. It is at its core an epilepsy treatment.
5333788 tn?1366569346 Was taking Lyrica since Jan/Feb 2013 for fibromyalgia. Dosage went to 50mg 3x a day to 200mg 1x in the morning, 1x in the evening. Then, in this month was seen by a doctor who increased the dosage from 200mg to 400mg, 200 in the morning, 200 in the evening. Started to feel "high." Reduced medicine to 300mg, 100mg 1x in the morning, 200mg in the evening. Still felt "high." Cried all day through out the day.
372366 tn?1284403873 I have tried quite a few of the meds for breakthrough pain including lyrica and like Quix says you have quite a bit of room to increase that dosage. I gave up on lyrica myself and I have been constantly on Carbamazepine 300mg tid for a long time and now I am using 40mg of Amitriptyline at bedtime. The breakthrough pain is not too bad now and I am only having trouble with pain from a different source at the moment that I am going to have to discuss with the dr.
Avatar f tn t see this in the dark. However, at times when I go back to sleep I see all kinds of squiggly patterns flash in front of eyes - like little flourescent microbes darting back and forth...and then I fall asleep. My neuro has a theory that it's a migraine aura. I sometimes do wake up with a migraine, but with the Topamax I usually don't and I'm still having the visual disturbances. Should I get a second opinion on this or forget about it?
Avatar f tn So is my math right in that if I take 2 pills every 6 hours, 5200mg of Tylenol? He also prescribed me Lyrica 150mg but I am not getting any relief with that... I've had Vicodin 5-500 before, but prescribed by my Primary Care..seemed to work well other than having to take it so often + it also contained Tylenol. I am a bit frightened by the Darvocet, not to mention it is not as strong as Vicodin? I am only 25..I am not trying to kill my liver and kidneys.
483733 tn?1326798446 I am on 300 mg of Lyrica a day and it was doing wonders for me. I am now fighting a bad flare and my doctor doesn't want a higher dose although I'm going to fight him over it. When is the dose too high? Is it inevitable that it will stop working?
680499 tn?1233851308 pins/needles/slicing/dicing feelings (as in porcupine and fire ant attacks as above post) 150mg at night barely touches the pain, while 225mg seems to dull it enough to allow sleep. Lyrica is a multi headed beast....
