Lyrica and your liver

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and your liver

lyrica

Avatar n tn Very likely, your liver could be affected, or your gallbladder, or both. Between the drinking, the opiate abuse, and the abuse of Lyrica, your symptoms are very concerning. Please go get checked out, then let us know what the outcome was, okay? FYI, the MAX recommended daily dose of Lyrica is 300mg a day! You're taking more than 4 times over that amount!
Avatar f tn All of the meds you are on are very common meds for treatment really. Most likely the ribavirin is what is keeping you up at night - unfortunately it's one of the problems we have. While we should always try to take the minimum of meds because of our liver damage - you have to remember we live in a real world and we gotta do what we gotta do.
Avatar n tn I have never had problems with my liver until the doctor put me on Lyrica. My liver has swollen so much and he has put me on this shake and one meal a day. The doctor does not believe in pain medication so what do I do? As soon as I eat and I only eat small meal at supper and when I eat I am in so much pain I am curled up in a ball because of the pain in my liver and threw my back. Can someone help me !!!
Avatar f tn I do not want to make my liver worse and they say these meds might just do that. I have taken Lyrica for a few times and it helps but it gives me a monster appetite and I do not want to put more stress on these joints! I am already at 180. Maybe I should go ahead with Lyrica and try to treat with the 3 meds like you. How was the side effects of the interferon? Thankfully all my kids are grown and I do not work so I could get through it. IT might help me with all this chronic pain I have now.
Avatar m tn Yeah, lyrica is a nasty drug that raises peoples blood sugar and should be taken of the market."I was not a diabetic until i had taken the drug.
Avatar f tn Hi, I also have Fibromyalgia and RA. I don't believe in taking narcotics either...My Doctors, however have me on a few anti depressant for depression and pain management...I've been on Lyrica for a few years and I did get some relief..I'm on Wellbutrin, and also Effixor, and I've gained about 50pds..which dosent help my joints either..It dose sound like Fibro to me my pain is burning and deep dull pain..Istarted weening myself off Lyrica a few days back...
Avatar f tn Your doctor would know best which meds might hurt your liver or not. The hepC on it's own can hurt your liver terribly so it is crucial that you take as good care of it now as you can. Is there any way you can do some examination to find out where you stand (ie: a biopsy (which isn't painful like it sounds), liver enzyme levels things like that? there is no such thing as 'dormant' hepC - you either have it or you don't have it.
217229 tn?1192762404 If you drink ANY alcohol while on it, it damages your liver and can cause hallucinations....Pay attention to your labs and what they show for your calcium, potassium, and magnesium levels. any one of these being low can increase/ cause muscle/ nerve pain as they are crucial in the conduction of nerve impulses...Hope this helps! Good luck on finding some relief!
Avatar n tn What is antiviral chemotherapy?
Avatar m tn This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
Avatar f tn Aching in your muscles and joints and fatigue. It hurts you to get out of the chair, also fatigued. You wake up tired and go to bed tired. Your head always feels tired. Complaints of fatigue and joint pains are, unfortunately, very common. fibromyalgia, a condition characterized by muscular aches and pains, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. It is much more common in women, and it can be debilitating. Many conventional medical doctors do not think that fibromyalgia exists.
712802 tn?1274645485 Cymbalta has also had reports of causeing suicidal thoughts and on a molecular leval has a lot of simularities with lyrica so be catreful and stay in close contact with your doctor and us. I take lyrica 150Mg 3x per day and have never had that side effect but I keep a close watch. I also take an antidepresant called trazodone whitch is an older drug but one that is very easy to get along with. Best of luck and God bless.
1041953 tn?1259072690 m wondering if my escalating uneasiness has something to do with the missing Lyrica. I did refill it, and can likely answer my own question once I pick it up and am back on schedule with it, but I'm wondering if anyone can offer any insight in the meantime. Thanks! Be well..... PEACE - and I really mean, "PEACE"! Those of my generation bantered the word around like we do "Hey!

Avatar m tn t stand the anxiety they cause and barely could function after about 4 days of taking them and I have tried at least 6. After researching lyrica and hearing your experience I am thinking about calling the Dr back and giving it a try. I'm glad its working for you!
394774 tn?1235070839 You can get addicted to lyrica, it is a controlled substance. but if they work for you and take away the pain and you know you are gonna have to take them the rest of your life, who care.
Avatar n tn It may be that he would need to discontinue the medication until you become pregnant. I can understand your concern and would certainly want to know the specifics about the effects it could have on the fetus. You may want to ask this question in the pregnancy forum as well. Someone there might have been through this previously and could give you more info., but I would feel more comfortable speaking with an MD. Take care.
Avatar n tn i have been on neurontin for about 2 years. it can be used to treat nerve pain, and of course it's a seizure medication. It does work, however give it a bit to get into your system. Also, you may have to adjust your dosage depending on your tolerance to it. I was taking 600's twice a day, and it will make you dizzy, and not so much out of it, but a bit slow to react. however, everyone is different. Once they lowered my dose to 300, I was quite content on it.
483733 tn?1326798446 I think my doctor will allow me to go higher than that. I'm not sure Lyrica is helping me that much. My theory on medicine is anything might not work and if it works, your body will probably adapt to it. Obviously fibro isn't cured with Lyrica, so I would expect it not to solve the issues. I have found some alternative medicine to help - massages, etc. Changing what I eat, watching the stress, watching what I do, etc. The bad weather almost always affects me.
Avatar f tn Ive been on lyrica and nuvigil fro fibro pain and fatigue, and just found out I'm pregnant. I'm just wondering if anyone else has taken either one of those while pregnant. I've stopped them for i was on only 50 mg of lyrica and about 100 of nuvigil. but I'm still worried, and i feel like I've been hit by a train once again, the pain is almost unbearable, i know my doc personally, have an appt. with him for the 12th.
Avatar f tn That's awesome!!! I hope the Voltaren helps with your pain. I am sure your liver is fine by now. I wouldn't worry about it. It is just all about waiting for the ALL CLEAR! :) My liver enzyme tests all came back in less than 2 days and sometimes within 24 hours. The labs can turn around tests pretty quickly so you shouldn't have to wait too long.
483733 tn?1326798446 I am taking 300 mg of Lyrica a day. I am having heavy swelling in my hands, feet and ankles and doctor put me on Lasix. It is helping a bit but still uncomfortable and pain. I've put a lot of weight on and am also having bad memory problems (can't find my words) and blurry vision. Is there anything that can be done that doesn't require me to get off of Lyrica? it really helps my pain. If I have to get off of it what is the best way to do so?
1985289 tn?1328579594 my question is the dr. prescribed lyrica for me and yesterday when i took it, i was feeling pretty weird and didn't really have the feeling of needing to take my methadone (35mg.), but i took it. Today i thought i might try not to take it. has anyone ever heard of lyrica for methadone withdrawel. it is very expensive at 300.00 a month, but i pay 420.00 month for the clininc. if anyone has heard is lyrica addciting?
Avatar f tn s (sometimes up to 4 at a time), I also take other meds for heart issues (coronary artery disease, 1 heart attack and 1 stent, as well as tachycardia including svt at times) as well as numerous GI problems including multiple ulcers and a history of GI bleed. She said that they never put patients on Lyrica and Neurontin together, and certainly never at these high of dosages. I've been taking them at these dosages for at least 5 years.
