Lyrica and sleepiness

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and sleepiness

lyrica

Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone on here has been on lyrica and then come off it. I stopped taking lyrica on Saturday AM. Starting on Sunday I was naseous, had headaches and no appetite. The worst is the pin prick skin sensation. Has anyone had this before if so what helps or makes it go away? I tried Benadryl last night but it did t help. How long does lyrica withdrawal last?
Avatar m tn has anyone ever been perscribed Lyrica for cronic pain. If so how much do you take, and how long did it take to notice any results. I started taking 50MG's 3X's a day. I started last Tuesday, and haven't noticed any difference in my pain. any feedback would be great.
Avatar m tn This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
1088430 tn?1259159773 I have never tried Lyrica before and the only person that I know of personally that took it had to stop due to unwanted side-effects BUT side-effects are usually rare and don't effect all people. So, if you are not experiencing side-effects and this medication is working well for you, then I wouldn't let other people's bad experiences with the medication make you worry about taking the medication.
131817 tn?1209529311 At last I had relief from the pain! No fatique and sleepiness! Why would I want to do more? Now I am having some severe stabbing pains in my shoulders. I wish I had listened to the Dr., although he warned me I would be sleepy as I upped my dose of Lyrica. I now beleive him and am upping it a pill at a time. Yep, I am sleepy, but at what cost? I won't have the debilitating pain. Yes, it will be debilitating to not be awake and functional for awhile, but what is my choice?
Avatar n tn Side effects of Lyrica including sleepiness, dizziness, blurry vision, weight gain, trouble concentrating, swelling of the hands and feet, and dry mouth. Lastly, Paxil can also be associated with weight gain. Again as stated before Wellbutrin has a lower incidence of weight gain . The average weight gain with paroxetine (Paxil®) for someone who weighs 150 pounds is about 5 pounds. Some people can gain much more.
Avatar f tn I take Lyrica with Provigil to help with the sleepiness. I've been Lyrica for 8 months now, and it's working great. I'm also on Ritalin, Prozac, and Florinef.
653169 tn?1303446369 The dopey feelings usually wear off after about 3-5 days and then you'll feel ok again. I felt like I was taking air when I first started on it because I switched from Lyrica to Neurontin and they are chemically very similar. Neurontin is kind of a weaker version of Lyrica.
Avatar n tn I take a cousin to your Epleptin, which the generic for yours is Gabapentin, and mine is Pregabalin or Lyrica. I have a lot of pain in my body from tearing up my back in a car accident years ago, it really helps it so much, and I think it will help your headaches a lot. Also, it is an anti-seizure type drug, so it helps with people who have musculature trouble. Also, once you get used to the drug, sometimes doctors will increase the dose until you reach a plateau of comfort.
630344 tn?1280104983 Just a quick comment - I have fibro and am bipolar. The pdoc gave me Lyrica for mood swings and at 200mg a day about a week later I was no longer depressed ABD the burning pain in my legs and back were diminished quite a bit. I guess it works differently for everyone. I houp you find sonwthing that really works...hot baths really help me.
1196859 tn?1266134938 ve used small dose Elavil in the past and it was a wonder drug and did not cause too much sleepiness. Then I no longer needed it and stopped. Not long ago I thought I'd try it for general pain syndrome thing I have going on now. Even at .10 mg/day, I could not stay awake. Talk with your treating doctor. Sleeping for a full week is extremely unhealthy even if it's just every other month or so. Maybe a lower dose would work as well?
Avatar f tn Is anyone taking Lyrica for their Fibro and if so is it helping and what doseage are you taking? I am medicine sensitive so I was started last Sept. on 25mg and have just now made it up to 225mg.
Avatar f tn Have had to stop taking all pain meds except tylenol because of stomach upsets which is causing UC flares daily. Had to quit Lyrica due to heavyconcrete like pain in legs and severe swelling of feet and legs. Cannot take any antiinflammatories due to stomach pains. All pain meds also cause stomach pain. Besides stretching exercises, heat, medicated muscle rubs, music, pet, imargery and deep breathing what can I do? I am seeing psychiatrist who wants to tweak my meds.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms sound quite a bit like mine...especially the exhaustion and muscle pain. I was diagnosed with fibro and CFS in July, after 2 years of symptoms that kept developing over time. Cymbalta did not work for me either. I build a tolerance to meds very fast so most meds don't work for me or only work a short time. My suggestion would be to find a really good doctor who will listen to you (I know, easier said than done...
378810 tn?1201987233 I lost 40 lbs 3 years ago and have kept it off until like 8 months ago when pain doc started trying neurontin and lyrica for chronic myofascial pain..which did not work...and kept putting on weight. Now back on lyrica for nerve pain in TN but not really helping. What other drugs work that don't make you gain weight?? Okay sorry, just a downer day..or week..any input would be great on meds that work for TN..God Bless you all.
511671 tn?1214148100 My new neuro suggested that I was not benefiting any longer. he has cut my neurotin to 1200mg a day and 200mg of lyrica. I take 100 in the morning and 100 in the evening. I also take 75 mg of effexor in the moirning and 75mg at night. i feel less nerve pain on the lyrica the only down side is the cost. LOL !! I hope this helps you. Good Luck.
Avatar m tn Fibromyalagia is another medical condition that leads to whole body sensory changes, and is best treated with medications such as lyrica and neurontin, exercise, and physical therapy. I would encourage you to discuss your symptoms with your primary physician to ensure nothing is being overlooked. Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
175734 tn?1225134440 Cold or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety can add to sleepiness caused by Lyrica. Side Effects include: muscle pain, weakness, or tenderness (especially if you also have a fever and feel tired); easy bruising or bleeding; or swelling in your hands or feet, rapid weight gain.
648439 tn?1225058862 I have been dizzy for about 6 days - week 5 of treatment. I started taking AD's on Sat and now feel really sleepy and cannot go to work. I only took two half tablets of the AD - took half Sat am and half Sun pm. Is this (sleepiness) likely to be an effect of the AD's or the tx. Should I stop taking the AD's to see how I go without the?
1636858 tn?1307458394 All my adult life I have felt that I have to put my head down and lie down and cannot carry on anymore. I am now 66 years old and have to lie down often. Sometimes I feel "grim" with it and sometimes have a migaine. No doctor could tell me what is causing this except that I am hypo mobile, although this is not severe. I also have LBBB and a low BP and pulse rate. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I think I slept through my entire first pregnancy. My second and third not so much. And this 4th time around, I suspect I could sleep until March when I'm due!
Avatar f tn I have less than 8 weeks and I feel the exact same way. Working full-time & barely getting thru the day. To top it off I'm a single parent of an active super energetic 3 yr old.
459663 tn?1236000877 Hi guys hope all is well i havent been posting alot because im really busy but am always lurking when i can... tomorrow will be 5 weeks off the sub and i am so sleepy all the time i have energy and i dony feel tired just sleepy when ever i finnelly stop i feel like i could close my eyes where ever and pass out im sleeping great 8 hrs a nite...
Avatar m tn No amount of sleep or napping will remove the sleepiness. We have done bloodwork and everything has come back normal (we did not check t3 though), pulse ox was fine according to them, but here is my question- My O2 levels are always around 92, my pulse averages 35-40, and blood pressure generally ~105/70. These are waking and sleeping stats. Pulse responds accordingly to exercise. I was once in very good shape years ago, but haven't been to a gym or worked out in years. I am not an athlete.
Avatar n tn What do I do about having sleepiness while I am in my 12th week of pregnancy first trimester?
1439353 tn?1309288364 I am currently on my second cycle of clomid and I am so tired I could sleep at the drop of a hat. I don't remember feeling this way the first time I was on it. has anyone had experience with feeling extreme tiredness/sleepiness where you fight to keep your eyes open? I am just so tired. Tonight is my last pill but I know it stays in your system for a while. Sigh. Any advice would be MOST appreciated! Thanks!
Avatar f tn I have FM and CFS and have tried both Adderall and Ritalin to see if it could reduce my daytime sleepiness. Neither one of them did anything for it. I wasn't advised by my doc of it helping for pain, just for alertness, etc. Gina, forgive me for saying..I mean no disrespect...but Lyrica has helped as many people as it hasn't helped. Steering bunney to a FB page that no doubt has horror stories from people will definitely ensure she never tries it.
Avatar f tn For many years I've been practically the queen of insomnia. I've been literally sleep-deprived, as shown by a sleep study, and in recent months I've been seeing a sleep specialist for this problem. Now and for the past few days, for some strange reason I can hardly keep my eyes open. I'm SO sleepy all the time. I'm trying to figure out what's causing this. I've been on Lyrica with good effects for about 6 weeks, and the same with amitriptyline for a month.
