Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and rls

lyrica

Avatar m tn m taking is lyrica b-12 vitamin-c and veggie pills.. I eat chicken broth and grapes bananas and apples and progressive soup and recently tuna on cracker... I drink nothing but water Gatorade and this V8 fusion juice. Days 6 and 7 and 8 were horrible no sleep at all so that why I took a triazolam (I was about to blow my brains out if I went 4 days without sleep) though I don't have any anymore so I won't be taking it again back to just the lyrica and lyrica only..
Avatar n tn m 52 years old male. I suffer from rls severe! Started what was thought to be growing pains as a teenager and from their it became known as RLS a long drive to mayo clinic in Rochester Minnesota, I've been on several medications to say and a couple have been helpful for some years its now that I've been suffering with the RLS that have led me to little sleep for the past few years. It's torture trying to be a father and husband and keep working on my of 27 years.
464044 tn?1343702043 I do not wanna scare you coconuts, but please listen to me its the same as lyrica and nerotin or howerver you spell it, and it does help with the RLS cause its a nerve medicine I'm dextoxing from it myself took it for five years so as I agree with no more it will help with the withdrawls it is a very scary thing to me, everyone told me shew those are scary drugs you are on and should not be messed with I saw your post and had to answer you, if you can take only through the withdrawls it prob
986593 tn?1283532211 He says he has been giving it to patients with severe rls like i have and it has been working great. The rls is even worse during detox. He says to take one at nite and it should help with both the rls and the insomnia because of the "drunk" feeling. He is only giving me enough for the detox so I wont use it to replace the oxy and norco. Once done with detox I will go back to my original meds for the rls which is elavil. The elavil works normally but just not during the detox.
Avatar n tn m really feeling it now. I have RLS and my legs hurt extremely all the time. Today I am very weak and have cried. Reading your post helps me know I'm not alone. Why can't they fix this? Sometimes I wish I could just touch a doctor and "somehow" he would know and realize what I'm going through. I'm sure that if the doctors had what we have, they would find a cure! You're right, it is a nightmare, but we are here for you.
Avatar n tn there is a good article in the health pages on rls and a study done on rls patients....read it..learn the cause of ur symptoms and it cam mhelp u understand..
Avatar f tn I was put on lyrica and only in the last month and a half started abusing it. I was taking up to 9-10 150mg pills a day. So I stopped cold turkey. My last pill was Saturday morning. Since yesterday I have been having this sensation all over my body that feels like I am being poked by a needle or like a pin prick sensation. Has anyone come off lyrica before and had this happen?
405614 tn?1329144114 OK, Is it possible that the Restless Leg Syndrome I was diagnosed with from a sleep study several years ago might have been an early symptom of my maybe possible MS? It recently occured to me that I list RLS as a neurological symptom on medical forms, and that as far as I know there is no real know cause for RLS. Low iron has aggravated it, but it wasn't low when I was tested for RLS.
Avatar m tn Now I know what you are thinking; some of the medicines that treat bipolar disorder can make RLS worse, and I am aware of that and have tried to avoid those meds, even though at times my psychiatrist made me try them (with no success). I do see a neurologist and he is somewhat baffled as he doesn't have any other patients that have bipolar II with severe rls. My rls is so bad that I get it 24 hours of every day! I have it right now and can barely sit still!
986593 tn?1283532211 Its for the rls and sleep. I had a taper thursday and the rls came on strong last nite. I have rls to begin with but the wd makes it even worse. I took a lyrica 75mg 1/2 hr before bed and my legs havent been so peaceful in years. Also it works for the sleep and even noticed my pain was better. The nice thing is its a non narcotic and none benzo. Still can be mentally addicted because the buzz you may get but I didnt notice anything but being a bit tired.
478403 tn?1266546009 Hi, I take 75mg when needed for RLS and neuropothy, and it lays me out! I mean, a full on sleep. I was prescribed 75mg twice a day, but just couldnt take it and even come close to functioning. I keep it around now to help with W/D's and use it when i get spastic pain in my feet. It works great for that. Im sorry, but I dont get w/d from Lyrica and cant really help you with kinda dose. Im a big guy too, 6'2" and 220 pounds and that stuff layes me out!
Avatar f tn There are several treatments for it, but the vast majority get the best relief from pain killers, makes the calves stop hurting and stops the RLS. I take Lyrica for my lower back injury. That drug is a miracle drug. No medication helps my upper back and torso pain except physical therapy, altho the opiates dim it somewhat.
372680 tn?1228161610 I started on 75mg and at the end of the year i was 2 st heavier and on 600mg of lyrica which then took 6 mth to get off and lose a stone and a half. let me now how it goes.
Avatar f tn t take the Lyrica due to dizziness, but the Neurontin does help with the RLS!! I used it for about a week and stopped without a problem. Good luck to you!!
Avatar f tn While I was still detoxing I took Neurontin ( Gabapentin ) and that seemed to help. After I ran out of the Neurontin I took some Lyrica I had at home. I only took it at night hoping it would help with the RLS. I'm not sure about this, but I suspect that RLS, overall restlessness, and the heavyness/tingling are related. You need a RX to get the Neurontin, Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
Avatar m tn I have tried requip, mirapex, sinamet, gabapentin, lyrica and a host of others. Ultram was the only one that worked well. For three and a half years I was free of the rls syptoms. Now though I am afraid I am going to experience not only increased rls symptoms but also the other withdrawl symptoms associated with quiting the Ultram. I am looking for responses from others that have been in this boat. I never took the drug for recreation. It never made me high it just relieved the Restless Legs.
612205 tn?1225594910 Well, you said you will not refill them, so thats the first step. Now comes the body aches, diarrhea, depression, pain, and RLS. are you ready for a couple weeks of that?? It's certainly not fun, but it is doable. Keep posting during this time if you can. There is lots of support here. So many here have done it, and you can too. I wish you well, Nauty..........
1345254 tn?1325918041 I was on a lyrica regiment for about 6 months and in regard to side effects, never had any adverse reactions that were of concern. At first the Dr started me on gabapentin (neurontin), but that stuff really messed with me. Within a week, I'd wake in the mornings horribly dizzy..It would take me a couple hours just to get feeling somewhat normal. So the Dr switched me to the lyrica..
669241 tn?1236264344 Do any of yo take Lyrica for pain ? And how much do you take? Is it working at all for you?
Avatar n tn The pharmacist told me it had less side effects than Lyrica and it was safer than Lyrica as well. She said neurontin had been around awhile and that Lyrica was the new drug as far as treating nerve pain. I started the Neurontin in August of 07 and I have had no problems at all. ( Thank GOD ). It doesn't even make me sleepy. It's also not hard on the liver as well. Thanks Susan..
15227985 tn?1439629482 Because I am a chronic pain patient and also a recovering addict...I would like to clarify a few of the differences between Lyrica/pregabalin and Neurontin/gabapentin. They are "similar".....but also have some major differences. They are both medications that need to be titrated UP when you first go on them.... meaning to gradually increase your dose. Likewise, when you go off of either of them, you must wean yourself DOWN.
562833 tn?1233756109 I have RLS, and fibromyalgia and lyrical works great, not a narcotic, not addictive but sure helps calm the legs.
Avatar f tn This may be a little premature as I"m only working on day 2 without tramadol but last night I was having RLS and I took Hyland's Restful Legs (got it at walmart) and it helped instantly (they dissolve under your tongue). I am also taking the vitamins/supplements you mentioned which do help alot as well throughout my tapering but since I stopped it got worse last night.
Avatar n tn Some people here have used hylands restful legs caplets and it helped with the RLS. Like Sophie said, hot hot baths are good too.
Avatar f tn When I read your post, I felt as though you wrote my situation almost verbatim. So tired that I'm not functioning normally (clumsy, etc.
689327 tn?1240229164 I take Celebrex, Cymbalta, and Lyrica for these conditions...also Baclofen (muscle relaxant) for other spinal injuries. Am fused L-3 to S-1. Last night (early this morning), my husband reminded me that compression hose helps, so I put one on....did help enough to get some sleep. I am now wondering if it might be RLS. Guess I will try a rheumatologist again, and see what they say. It does help to read other tales....maybe I am not really crazy.
