Hi lou yes burning skin and burning in the head and chest pain and numbness and tingling starts in my face and continues through my body. My psy said give the medicine time 6 wks but I can't continue on this way it has to not be the right one for me. Been on it 3wks but weaned off of paxil and wasn't sure if it were paxil withdrawl or the lexapro affects.
I've been on Zoloft just 1 week so far. Today, I started feeling a little better. I read it can take up to a month to work. I cut my dose of Lorazepam in half to see how I would feel and so far so good. I've been to counseling for years. I think the Lorazepam caught up to me as I'm not getting the benefits I used to out of it. Hopefully, the Zoloft alone will work eventually. Thanks for responding!
My neurologist decided to wean me off tegretol and lorazepam. I will also be cutting off my lyrica soon after my tegretol and lorazepam. I m now preparing to go through withdrawal days while not intending to try anymore new anti depressants as most of them made my condition worst base on my experience and after a some thoughts. I hope I will be able to lead a new painless life without medications. Will keep you posted. Take care.
Six months ago it started with a light tingling in both of my knees. Now I use a cane and have to have a wheelchair to go out in public. I have an MRI and an EEG schedule for the next two weeks because I started having seizures. The Neurologist that I see says that I am in worse shape then what he thought and that he may not be able to help me but with strickly as pain management.
For example, in natural medicine the thing to add would be passionflower and hops or kava or something like that, which if they work will do what lorazepam does without the addiction problem. There would also be dietary and exercise and meditation changes involved, a whole body approach as opposed to a one remedy cures all approach.
I am having sorta the same thing. It started just a few days ago in my legs. And then goes up my arms and in my face. When i walk it felt like electrical shocking sensation throbing up my legs. If i turn to fast i get dizzy and disorented. I do have mid back pain and my legs usually hurt. But, this is all new and very scary. I got right in to my primary doc. and he gave me gabapentin generic for neurontin.
If there is no contraindication for taking depakote and lorazepam, they may tell you to go ahead and take your normal dose of lorazepam but to contact your doctor ASAP.
Make some calls and you'll soon be back in control.......you'll be fine.
And either find a new doctor or let this one know that when it comes to medications, anytime they add something or change something......
Basically, the standard warning is not to take kava or valerian when taking a benzo, as they all target GABA. The drug is obviously stronger than the herbs, and kava is stronger than valerian as a relaxant. GABA supplements don't usually pass the blood/brain barrier, so they not only shouldn't be taken along with a drug targeting GABA but probably won't work.
This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
t take the edge off stress and worry and the no sleep. You hit it exactly,heard so many lorazepam horror stories making more uncertainty. I take 1/2 to 1/4 of a 5 mil only at night for fear over problems. my current Dr doesn't seem worried about adverse effects. If it wasn't for the insomnia i would try to tough it out without pills.

The script stopped and our mother became miserable with insomnia, anxiety and depression. And we never ever saw the Mom we always knew. My sister and I regret it to this day. Mom died of cancer at 87. At the time she was taking TylenolPM every night for sleep. Her doctors in Florida gave her Ambien for a good reason, she had insomnia. And we had no business messing with her delicate balance of medications prescribed to make her final years comfortable.
By consulting with your doctor or a psychiatric medication manager. We are not doctors here and cannot tell you how to taper off a medication. But taper you must. Do not just stop cold turkey.
You must speak to a medical professional, we can't give you any advice regarding medications. Anti-depressants and psychiatric drugs can take time to work, there aren't instant cure pills. With all the meds you are taking, call your doctor or at least speak to your pharmacist.
Benzodiazepines (Ativan or lorazepam....what you are taking) are EXTREMELY addictive...and 3 mg is a SUPER high dose. A lot of times doctors will prescribe LOW dose benzos temporarily to help with w/d symptoms...but they are ONLY to be taken for a brief period of time...and nowhere NEAR the dose you took. There is unfortunately very little you can do to avoid the pains of w/d's completely.
Be VERY careful with the Ativan....you may end up with another monkey on your back.....
