lyrica and liver

I am taking 750mg of lyrica twice a day and my stomache is so bloated and I'm in so much pain. I drink also I drank 1/2 pint of vocka and a pint. I cut back alot on my drinking, But is that whats causing my stomache to be bloated and if so what can I do? I'm taking the lyrica like this for opaite withdrawls like swim.

All of the meds you are on are very common meds for treatment really. Most likely the ribavirin is what is keeping you up at night - unfortunately it's one of the problems we have. While we should always try to take the minimum of meds because of our liver damage - you have to remember we live in a real world and we gotta do what we gotta do.

I have never had problems with my liver until the doctor put me on Lyrica. My liver has swollen so much and he has put me on this shake and one meal a day. The doctor does not believe in pain medication so what do I do? As soon as I eat and I only eat small meal at supper and when I eat I am in so much pain I am curled up in a ball because of the pain in my liver and threw my back. Can someone help me !!!

I do not want to make my liver worse and they say these meds might just do that. I have taken Lyrica for a few times and it helps but it gives me a monster appetite and I do not want to put more stress on these joints! I am already at 180. Maybe I should go ahead with Lyrica and try to treat with the 3 meds like you. How was the side effects of the interferon? Thankfully all my kids are grown and I do not work so I could get through it. IT might help me with all this chronic pain I have now.

Hi, I also have Fibromyalgia and RA. I don't believe in taking narcotics either...My Doctors, however have me on a few anti depressant for depression and pain management...I've been on Lyrica for a few years and I did get some relief..I'm on Wellbutrin, and also Effixor, and I've gained about 50pds..which dosent help my joints either..It dose sound like Fibro to me my pain is burning and deep dull pain..Istarted weening myself off Lyrica a few days back...

Your doctor would know best which meds might hurt your liver or not. The hepC on it's own can hurt your liver terribly so it is crucial that you take as good care of it now as you can. Is there any way you can do some examination to find out where you stand (ie: a biopsy (which isn't painful like it sounds), liver enzyme levels things like that? there is no such thing as 'dormant' hepC - you either have it or you don't have it.

OK. I went to this VERY nice Doctor in Anchorage. At first she let me know that she "THOUGHT" I had bad posture, was overweight and had carpal tunnel which was what was causing my pain - but that she was going to run some tests. This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.

Cymbalta has also had reports of causeing suicidal thoughts and on a molecular leval has a lot of simularities with lyrica so be catreful and stay in close contact with your doctor and us. I take lyrica 150Mg 3x per day and have never had that side effect but I keep a close watch. I also take an antidepresant called trazodone whitch is an older drug but one that is very easy to get along with. Best of luck and God bless.

My Dr was going to prescribe me lyrica for shingles pain but I was hesitant and refused at the time. I did some research on it when I got home and actually found that lyrica is approved in eroupe for anxiety. I also read reviews of people taking it for other things and found that it helped with their anxiety. Glad to know it is working for you. What dosage are you on?Where your prescribed the lyrcia for anxiety or something else? Hope it continues to help you.

The pharmacist told me it had less side effects than Lyrica and it was safer than Lyrica as well. She said neurontin had been around awhile and that Lyrica was the new drug as far as treating nerve pain. I started the Neurontin in August of 07 and I have had no problems at all. ( Thank GOD ). It doesn't even make me sleepy. It's also not hard on the liver as well. Thanks Susan..

You can get addicted to lyrica, it is a controlled substance. but if they work for you and take away the pain and you know you are gonna have to take them the rest of your life, who care.

I am in the same position with my husband. He is taking Lyrica and we would like to try having our first child. I know this was two years ago, but did your husband end up going off the Lyrica before you conceived?

Ive been on lyrica and nuvigil fro fibro pain and fatigue, and just found out I'm pregnant. I'm just wondering if anyone else has taken either one of those while pregnant. I've stopped them for i was on only 50 mg of lyrica and about 100 of nuvigil. but I'm still worried, and i feel like I've been hit by a train once again, the pain is almost unbearable, i know my doc personally, have an appt. with him for the 12th.

I am taking 300 mg of Lyrica a day. I am having heavy swelling in my hands, feet and ankles and doctor put me on Lasix. It is helping a bit but still uncomfortable and pain. I've put a lot of weight on and am also having bad memory problems (can't find my words) and blurry vision. Is there anything that can be done that doesn't require me to get off of Lyrica? it really helps my pain. If I have to get off of it what is the best way to do so?

my question is the dr. prescribed lyrica for me and yesterday when i took it, i was feeling pretty weird and didn't really have the feeling of needing to take my methadone (35mg.), but i took it. Today i thought i might try not to take it. has anyone ever heard of lyrica for methadone withdrawel. it is very expensive at 300.00 a month, but i pay 420.00 month for the clininc. if anyone has heard is lyrica addciting?

Yours are not nearly as high as I have seen. And a person can have elevated liver enzymes and not show liver damage. Without more tests, and the best is a liver biopsy, there is no way your doctor can know anything about your liver condition. There are routine blood tests that are helpful in assessing the extent of the liver damage. Platelet count is generally low in patients with cirrhosis so a platelet count would be helpful.

I have been on lyrica for a while now. My doctor has increased the doseage and I am gaining weight in my stomach like crazy. Not sure what is going on with that, I don't want to gain any more weight than I am already carrying, which is alot. Next week I will be starting a heart healthy diet, my mom lives with me and has been seeing a cardiologist, so I figure that may help. If the diet doesn't help I may have to stop taking the lyrica.

I would like to post a question...I am going to my MD today due to my severe knee and feet pain...I want to discus taking either Cymbalta or Lyrica for the horrible pain I've been in which was ONE of the reasons I took pain meds and became and addict from... Now Im waling much more frequently and maintaining my Yoga but the pain has increased causing me to loose ALLOT of sleep which makes me very irritable....
