Lyrica and jaw pain

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and jaw pain

lyrica

Avatar n tn I have saver headaches, jaw pain , and TMJ. I take Lyrica and it helps most times. I find that I need to increase the Lyrica medication very often. I take a large amount of Magnisium because my left part of my face is tight and hard to open. MY question is, I do not understand my pain, Do my pain originate in my jaw or my head? In the past I had symptoms of Try mingle Neuralgia. Could that contribute to my facial pain? Why does the Lyrica wont work all the time?
1232362 tn?1333135406 The pain can be relieved with pain medication or lyrica which is indicated for neuropathic pain as in your case. If your pain medication do not work, stronger prescription pain medications may be indicated. In form your doctor about this if it persists. Take care and regards.
387767 tn?1345872027 Ear pain, Jaw pain and Headaches can be due to TMJ ( Tempromandibular Joint Dysfunction). TMJ is common in patients with Fibromyalgia. Do you grind /clench your teeth at night? Do you mostly get this pain after waking up from sleep? Then most likely it's TMJ. Also, If your dentist mentions that you have some teeth-wear ( Attrition), then you are most likely grinding/clenching your teeth at night. Though I don't know what the reason could be for your throat closing up...
Avatar f tn I definitely get the sore throats and jaw pain. Lyrica made a huge difference in it. I have reduced my dosage and it does come back periodically. I also use NSAID's, massage therapy and meditation to help.
Avatar f tn it does help pain tho and it did help my jaw a bit while i was on it but i could not tolerate the side effects
Avatar n tn I have been seeing a pain specialist in London since December 2008 and he has prescribed 600mg Lyrica per day which help a little but not much.
Avatar f tn My jaw has been acting up for years. there are days where it really hurts, and it actually locks and cracks when I open it. I was told it couild be TMJ and an orthadontist told me once, that my jaw was too small. Now I was just wondering what it could be. Not much takes away the pain tylonal only works for a couple hours and I've used joint cream which only works for a small amount of time. When it hurts, it creates large headaches that sometimes make me lightheaded.
Avatar n tn I was assaulted a year ago with injuries to my jaw and ear. I have always had joint pain as long as I can remember and depression. After the assault though my pains have been worse. The middle of my back feels like its broken, exp. when I try to bend over backwards. My bottom of my neck and shoulders have always been stiff for as long as I can remember too. My arms get sore and so does my legs. I am sick of complaining to my doctor. I have been diagnosed with TMJD, Myalgia and Myositis.
Avatar f tn Lunesta gave me the metalic taste as does Ambien. Also makes my gums inside my cheeks sore and jaw pain. Had to get off of both. Lyrica makes me sleep all night and half the morning so, Im not taking it anymore. Not a good drug for sleeping if that's what your looking for. Has addictive qualities.

901222 tn?1399142874 I struggle with a severe form of spinal arthritis. My doctors encourage me to medicate. I don't like to. I tend to slip in and out of dependency according to pain levels and depression about it. I stay far away from oxy and morphine because they are very difficult for people to quit. Vicodin makes me sluggish and sad. I lose connections and sulk in my bed. I just stopped all about a week ago. Feeling a bit better. Still depressed with another RF medical procedure looming. I'm worried.
Avatar m tn s getting to the point where I have to ask my family doc to prescribe me something stronger for pain control, because the pain is getting more and more frequent. I'v e tried regular otc meds like tylenol and Ibruprofen and in the past nsaids like Toradol and Naproxen. But they just dont seem to relieve the pain. Would you have any suggestions Dr J?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
405614 tn?1329144114 I have had this awful pain, upper left side of jaw, on and off for years. Several years ago I talked a dentist into putting a crown on a tooth that was healthy; I hurt so badly that I felt something had to be done. I have dry mouth (and eyes, possible Sjogren's?), so I have some gum recession. I have also had root canals on most of that upper jaw, and when I had X-rays and teeth cleaning in November, everything looked fine, though the pain was starting.
645390 tn?1338555377 When I was having severe jaw pain radiating to the ear and whole side of my face, both of these worked for me.The pain was the same as TN, in fact, they were having trouble edeciding if it was TMJ, TMD, or TN. It turned out to be an internal derangment of the temporal-mandibular disc. Cause by arthritis, the disc has shifted out of place. I didn't even know the jaw had a disc, LOL. I hope this helps you some, I know how painful it can be. Maybe from too many loud fireworks?
358486 tn?1294776388 All the Med r the same more or less they help with depression and nerve pain. And for u ear and the load sounds. Maybe ur jaw is out of line. R u haven any face pain? U might have tmj.
Avatar f tn However, whilst it was amazing for about three weeks, within days of increasing from 225mg a day to 300mg I lost control of my bladder three times in a week, then started to experience pain and soreness in the tendons of my feet, then my elbows, and two weeks ago (when I stopped talking it) my pinky and ring fingers on one hand have gone almost completely numb.
Avatar m tn Lyrica was a miracle for my nerve pain for 2 1/2 years. I went off it since the pain was gone and started to have serious anxiety problems. I finally connected the dots! The Lyrica was also solving my aniexty attack problem. I went back on it. I never had weight gain or problems with sleepiness. Everyone is different. You might be one of the lucky ones like me.
201149 tn?1211507130 Also, I have heard of several other drugs for nerve pain and would like to know what is best recommended, as the Lyrica (600 mg/day) is causing extreme side effects - weight gain (35 lbs.) - hair loss, and short term memory loss, which comes and goes. I would like to find something that has less side effects and helps with this pain. I am seeing a new doctor Monday and would like to know what to ask for for pain.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have everything you have so I know how you are suffering. Relafen didn't do anything for my pain, plus it's bad to take any NSAID drug if you have high blood pressure. My cardiologist doesn't want me to take it. Sometimes I do use Advil, but not every day. Tylenol sometimes, but it doesn't do much either. I refuse to take Lyrica because of the weight gain thing. I am already overweight, which is bad for my bp. With my fibro, I get hand pain.
Avatar f tn m still struggling with much worse TN and occipital neuralgia pain, and a new nerve pain going down the inside of my left arm. Plus my jaw muscles (also controlled by CN V) on the left side are very tight and I can hardly open my mouth. My neuro has me taking 300 mg of lyrica + 900 mg of gabapentin a day and it's not controlling the pain. I'm really worried about taking too much of these.
Avatar f tn My teeth feel as though they all need root canals and my gums feel infected. Dentist checked all clear. My jaw, from the mandible, has waves of pain which can become extreme, sometimes it feels as though my jaw has been pummeled 'til its broken, with a constant ache, like it's tight. Thankfully at the moment it's mostly numb, so the burning/itchining/tingling/hot isn't much of an issue. I still feel these things, but tolerable.
712802 tn?1274645485 Hi, I take lyrica 225mg 2 x a day. I have been and still am where you are. I have had a few bad days where I was looking at that option. I was able to get help from here which was great. I have not talked to any of my Dr's about this due to problems I already have at work and did not want anything like this to help my work mess with me any more than they already are. I am on alot of different drugs so I can not say that it was the lyrica.
255722 tn?1452546541 My lyme has been a tricky little bugger. I got my first "positive" test result 6 years ago, but the western blot was "negative" so we went with negative--this was before I knew anything about all this Lyme controversy stuff. I've had off and on joint issues, but nothing debilitating or long lasting, then 8 months ago the neuro symptoms slammed me and I've been down and out ever since!!! New Lyme specific protein tests show me as positive--and I agreed to treatment.
394774 tn?1235070839 You can get addicted to lyrica, it is a controlled substance. but if they work for you and take away the pain and you know you are gonna have to take them the rest of your life, who care.
673940 tn?1232411764 Pain quality and temporal pattern of tn and tmd are generally different. In addition, it's generally considered that if tegretol can not relieve tn, then it's not tn.It appears that you are fibromyalgia sufferer, multidiscipline team approach is probably required to manage your chronic pain.If an orofacial pain or tmj specialist is included in the team, you probably would benefit more.
483733 tn?1326798446 I am taking 300 mg of Lyrica a day. I am having heavy swelling in my hands, feet and ankles and doctor put me on Lasix. It is helping a bit but still uncomfortable and pain. I've put a lot of weight on and am also having bad memory problems (can't find my words) and blurry vision. Is there anything that can be done that doesn't require me to get off of Lyrica? it really helps my pain. If I have to get off of it what is the best way to do so?
Avatar m tn Hi there. I am taking lyrica for general anxiety. I was on 50 mg taken at night together with rivotril. My psychiatrist reduced my dosage of lyrica to 25mg. Apart from general anxiety, I understand it helps with pain and induces sleep. I sleep quite well now, and in the morning and day time, I don't feel too tired. My doctor feels lyrica suits me and I may be on it for a while longer. Does it help with your pain?
