Avatar n tn the neuropathy I had has been exacerbated by Lyrica, although lessened in severity overall; very dry throat and mouth; Brain zaps or shivers (these occur along the back of my scalp/head but sometimes across the sides); strong sinus issues; chronic tiredness/fatigue; insomnia but less so now; incredible itchiness; my penis is numb; erectile dysfunction; sweating, crying or just bursting into tears. This drug is a nightmare. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I take Remeron for depression and Lyrica for the fibro pain. I could not sleep at night until I started the Lyrica and now I sleep right through. I wonder if it is the Cymbalta affecting your sleep.
Avatar m tn The first symptoms I noticed were fatigue, no libido, chronic insomnia, ED and testicular shrinkage. Then I started having constant sharp pain, burning, stinging in both my feet, calfs, knee (mostly right leg). I started noticing peeing and bowel movement was becoming difficult (trouble starting, frequency). Then started having testicular pain and sharp pain in the rectum (Urologist diagnosed rectum pain as pelvic floor problem and physical therapy has been helping the rectum pain only).
Avatar f tn Hello, I am still trying to get a diagnosis, going to Cleveland Clinic the end of the month. I am now experiencing leg, feet, hand and arm spasms, pain and tightness at night. Alot of nights it wakes me up, can't get back to sleep, Some nights I can't even get to sleep. I am taking 600 mg of Gabapentin at bedtime, take 300 during the day. I am always tired even if I don't take it or if I get a good nights sleep, I am still always tired.
18717293 tn?1467235215 I came off lyrica earlier this year (before getting pregnant) and reduced the dose gradually over a 3 week period, which really helped with the withdrawal. During that time I still had insomnia, anxiety and palpitations, which gradually eased and eventually stopped. I found that meditation (10 mins a day) using an app on my phone really helped too.
Avatar f tn I was already on lyrica and I have found that if I've having a very bad day I can take an extra lyrica and it does help. It seems to help with the anxiety.

Avatar m tn t want to be taken lyrica and then when the opiate withdrawals are better/gone and I decide to quit taking the lyrica the opiate withdrawals come back and it's like opiate withdrawals all over again (like day 1). I know lyrica isn't a narcotic and isn't a big habit former unless it's really abused, but I just want to know that lyrica and hydrocodien have none of the same ingredients or substances and it won't be like me still taking the hydrocodien??
Avatar f tn Would like to know if anyone else had insomnia worsen and if so, did you continue to take Savella and did your body get used to drug and insomnia resolved? I am wanting to wait and see if it will subside in another week or so as I am having much less pain, I did the titration pack but have kept my 50 mg dose twice a day at 2/3 of the pill, so around 37.5 mg twice a day.
Avatar f tn Been told by a neuro Dr that what made me think I had neuropathy she has never diagnosed me with it and neuropathy cannot come and go. My internal med Dr has had me on Lyrica for a year and it helps allot with the shooting burning stabbing pains at night. But sometimes it gets real bad.
Avatar m tn we almost rejected it. Big mistake - but she decided to try it (Lyrica) - and she is most grateful - and blessed - to have almost 100 % pain relief -for about one and a half years now. Of course, we know that others may not have the same relief she did. Her main issue now is extreme insomnia - only averaging about 2 to 3 hrs of sleep (sometimes not that much) in 24 hours. She is, as you might imagine, extremely fatiqued most all the time. Any help, please?
Avatar f tn My neurologist prescribed Trazadone 50 mg to take at night to help with sleep. I'm being treated for occipital neuralgia and the pain is very annoying and I can't concentrate on anything or feel relaxed because of this. I've been waking up with a headache for the last 3 weeks and getting really sick of it! Can the Trazadone be taken during the day as well? or is it a sleeping medicine? Anybody on it?
Avatar n tn Just curious to see how your symptoms differed from mine. I have a major sleep disorder which started with insomnia and led to a narcoleptic state, severe IBS, widespread muscle aches. My moms thyroid quit working when she was a teen and she has all of my syptoms except the sleep disorder. She did have extreme fatigue before getting on thyroid meds.
Avatar f tn Saw my Hopkins neuro yesterday, and the big upshot is that I will go on Avonex once the bureaucracy and paperwork are done. As many here know, I turned out to be wildly allergic to Copaxone. The doctor left the choice of meds (Avonex vs. Rebif) up to me. I said that I'd like help with this decision and of course got none, so I picked Avonex because I'd rather feel sick once a week than 3 times. He and 2 other associates at Hopkins just shrugged and said that's fine.
874521 tn?1424116797 One thing I forgot to mention about Lyrica as far as effectiveness is that I kept feeling that I needed to increase the dose after just a little while. It was as though my body would adjust quickly and would become immune to the strength and the pain would return. This would happen quite often. I remember not liking that and being fearful that I would top out at the highest dose too fast because the amount I needed to keep up with the pain would keep increasing.
Avatar f tn Hi, The affordable alternatives to Lyrica are -Neurontin ,Topamax and Cymbalta. Since you have had no relief from Topamax, you can try the other two . if still you feel no better ,please consult your neurologist to suggest an alternative.Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn Welcome to the forum. I really don't know much about Lyrica, but I goggled "Lyrica abuse and withdrawals" and found this site (amoung many others.) http://epilepsy.emedtv.com/lyrica/lyrica-withdrawal.html Hope it helps. You can goggle it yourself and read a lot of other info. You don't need to feel dumb here on this forum, we're all here to help.
Avatar f tn In the last month i started experiencing severe depression, insomnia, memory issues, mind fog and libido issues. My orthopedic specialist tried switching me to Lyrica for 3 months back in 2014 with horrible immediate side effects. Switched back to Gabapentin. I am asking if there is another neuropathic pain medication to use as an alternative to Gabapentin. I agree that the Gaba helps with nerve pain, however the side effects are scaring me.
Avatar n tn But I was a heroin addict for 4 years, and thats what i used to help with muscle aches, pain, and insomnia. And that withdrawl is a lot worst. Also a good thing about muscle relaxers is most of them are non addictive unlike vicodin, perkocet, oxy's, xanax. so on...they helped me a lot. Im on Lyrica right now, its like a muscle relaxer, but its really for fibermialga patients for pain..i take it to help me sleep and it also helps with anxiety. Good luck..
986593 tn?1283532211 Abrupt or Rapid Discontinuation Following abrupt or rapid discontinuation of LYRICA, some patients reported symptoms including insomnia, nausea, headache, and diarrhea. LYRICA should be tapered gradually over a minimum of 1 week rather than discontinued abruptly. Hmm, sound familiar?
271872 tn?1238590391 I tried Lyrica & hated it. No buzz, made my eyes blurr & I felt so sick I couldn't wait for the effect to wear off. I have noticed the manufacturers have put a warning on the commercial not to take if you've had a history of Alcohol & Drug abuse. Somebody's doing something to the Lyrica to get high! Not my husband. He's not had any Lyrica in 3 days & had had NO WD syptoms. Trust me. He KNOWS what WD is having lived with me.
Avatar n tn The pharmacist told me it had less side effects than Lyrica and it was safer than Lyrica as well. She said neurontin had been around awhile and that Lyrica was the new drug as far as treating nerve pain. I started the Neurontin in August of 07 and I have had no problems at all. ( Thank GOD ). It doesn't even make me sleepy. It's also not hard on the liver as well. Thanks Susan..
Avatar f tn I take Nortriptyline (50 mg) for insomnia and chronic pain (I have CFS/FMS too). For those of you with insomnia that requires medication, what med are you taking? I tried Trazadone and Klonopin and couldn't sleep. I am worried about taking Ambien longterm. Benadryl and Phenergen are possibilities? I may just have to stay on the Nortriptyline, but it would be nice if I could find something that works but doesn't make POTS worse.
