lyrica and celexa

I was diagnosed and treated for my fibromyalgia by a pain management doctor several years ago, and then my primary care doctor continued that same treatment. My daughter was seen, diagnosed and treated by a Rheumatologist, and my mother was treated by a Rheumatologist. I went to a Rheumatologist for the first time today, I finally have insurance after 1 1/2 years without.

I too have fibro and CFS, diagnosed a few months ago. I have never read or heard of anyone taking celexa for this. The newest drug that is in the ssri and snri category is Savella. I just started about 10 days ago. Pain is much improved already, however, I have always had insomnia and that is getting worse. Trying to stick it out for another two weeks or so and see if it gets better. Cymbalta is the other one that I have read is helpful to some.

I was put on Celexa by my personal physician and informed my Ortho of this new medication. I am a PTSD sufferer. My Ortho put Lyrica on top of it and I - after only two doses - became manic and had my boyfriend poised to call 911 for me so that I could be Baker Acted! I don't know about the specific effects of Lyrica, o ther than the fact that it certainly could have very easily cost me my life!!!

Talking to the doctor next week to try something else. I also tried cymbalta and cymbalta with the lyrica and they did not help the pain. The cymbalta was making me moody and irritable and i just wanted to be left alone.

I currently take 100mg of Lyrica twice a day and half a .5 klonopin twice daily. My Neuro wants me off the klonopin because she says it is bad in the long run. It seems to be the only thing that helps. She wants me to start Lexapro 20mg daily and wean off of klonopin. I hate Lexapro because the brain fog when I tried it 2 years ago. Two questions: Is it safe to take all 3 at once (daily)? Should I try herbal things for anxiety other then Lexapro?

It only makes you tired? Does it stop any of the pains associated with Fibro? Or any muscle aches/pains? Any other side effects?

They had me stop the celexa. My doctor had me start Zoloft. I have been on it for six days and some of the same symptoms are starting again plus muscle tightness in the chest and throat. She told me to stop the zoloft. I asked if I should titrate it, but I was told to just stop it. She wants me to start seeing a Psychiatrist for my meds. I agree, but I am worried about any withdrawls I may have from stopping the med like that.

i have had generalized anxiety (severe) for 12 yrs. currently only on 5 mg of lexapro only because i couldn't get off the last 5mg. i take clonazepam which is the only thing that works, but every couple of years i hit a wall and need to up the antidepressant. been on zoloft, paxil, celexa,effexor, lyrica, cipralex(lexapro), maoi's, etc..wondering if pristiq works, or maybe cymbalta? only snri i was on was effexor, which didn't do much but also had a brutal psych.

I have been to Dr. A for years and have taken SSRI's on and off. The best was Celexa and did great on it for a year. It just made me have trouble waking up and made me late to work every morning. Then I moved and went to a new psychiatrist, Dr. H, who knows me less but was more thorough like taking blood and mouth swab test, etc. He seems to think I have a mood disorder (bipolar spectrum) on the the depressive side and thinks Mood Stabilizers like Lamictal would be better for me.

Hello there, Cymbalta is a SNRI which mean it will affect your serotonin level but also your norepinephrine level which can be translated into adrenaline which results into a energy boost and less pain. I am on Cymbalta and Lyrica for chronic nerves pain due to compression of the suboccipital triangle causing pressure on the C2 originating nerves resulting in occipital neuralgia and myofacial pain.

I have a strict rule for myself and that is no sweets after 4pm and I try and have dinner before 5pm and exercise before bed. I know it is very hard to exercise with chronic pain and dieting is not an answer either as a healthy diet is the best option. Maybe a program like weight watchers may help. I know it helps me when I do it as I have someone else to "compete" with:) Having to weigh every week and having a goal also helps.

I have been taken off of Effort and put on Lamictal,Lyrica,and Cymbalta. I am almost at a loss. I know that going to a gym and eating right would help but wondering if I am fighting a losing battle.

Totally agree with you I came of lyrica it's definitely the devil I'm on oxycontin baclofen paracetamol celexa and pitzifen for migraines and that's my life line

Before I was placed on the Lamictal and increased doses of Neurontin, I was just on Klonopin and Celexa and I was still cycling. The Klonopin calmed me down, but it made the depressive episodes much worse. So, I have very hesitant to drop the Neurontin; when it works for me, it works very well and it's a much milder medication than the benzos and many of the other mood stabilizers out there.

CeleXa inhibits reuptake allowing more seratonin to be left in the synaptic gap causing the threshold for the nerves firing to be techniquelly less because less has to be delivered for the spark to occur since more is already there and available. I have smoked M. for 2 years and recently started CeleXa. The only thing ive noticed thus far is that I am less affected by the M. now that I am on CeleXa.

Lyrica seems to work for me, however the side effects include drowsiness and weight gain. I also take baclophen, which is a muscle relaxent and Celexa for my depression. It is also used for fibromyalgia. If you are having trouble sleeping and don't want to take something addicting, Then take melatonin. It is a herbal med. Good Luck and Take Care.

I read a paper that Celexa helps vertigo. anyone experience this? I may have to get back on Celexa and not for Panic or Anxiety but for the vertigo that started 3 days ago.

I have had fibromyalgia since a near fatal car accident 10 years ago. I am currently on Celexa and Methadone, and I have gained about 35 lbs. and I can't figure out how to stop it or why it is happening. My pain management doctor is a neurologist, and he just says it is a combination of the meds, menopause,not being as active, but he is not a diet doctor and his main concern is my pain. Is there another combination of meds that doesn't do this?

hello all i have been on 40mg celexa and .05 klonopin for a few months now. I feel that the ssri doesnt relly touch the anxiety ,and without the klonopin i would still be anxious! Does anyone get anxiety relief from there ssri alone? i know many people take 2 or more meds and I just wanted to know if im on the right track. any input would be great!

I am convinced that my Celexa is a major culprit in my weight gain. Before Celexa, I was on Zoloft, and the first week on Zoloft I lost weight, but then stabilized and slowly began to gain weight. the weight gain was not a big amount but it did happen. Then a few yrs later, I began having problems on Zoloft so my Doc switched me to Celexa, and "whamo!", BIG WEIGHT GAIN! It was amazing! On top of the weight gain, Celexa has made me lethargic and very tired.

At first, Celexa made me sleepy and relaxed. Believe me, this was a Good Thing! At last, I could sleep well! I cannot say that the drug itself decreased my PVCs--however, it DID decrease my awareness of them. Since their frequency was related to my anxiety and awareness of them (because of the effects of adrenaline), as I became less and less conscious of these sensations, the frequency of PVCs decreased dramatically. Trust your doctor and give this a try.

I just started 20 mg of generic Celexa (3 days ago) and the doc also gave me Ambien and Klonopin (take .25mg) to relieve the anxiety until the Celexa kicks in. I wake up shaky/hot and kind of panicky. Which drug is this from drugs, or is it still the anxiety. I know this takes time, but I don't want to mess with any drugs that might be making the symptoms worse (i.e Klonopin or Ambien). I also don't want to become dependent on the Klonopin and ambien either.

This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.

MY QUESTION IS, IS IT SAFE TO ADD CELEXA TO MY MEDICATIONS (40) MG CELEXA 1 TIME A DAY? I ASK THE CLINIC, PHARMACIST AND PCP AND ALL 3 SAID I SHOULD DO OK BUT I WAS LOOKING FOR MORE LIKE:DEFENATELY I CAN TAKE THESE 3 MEDS TOGETHER. ANYONE CAN TELL ME IF THIS IS DEFINATELY OK??

I started 5 mg Celexa 5 days ago and the doctor gave me .5 mg Ativan for just in case. My question is how long until the Celexa starts working? If I use the Ativan too often will it effect how the Celexa works? How hard are these to come off of?

I've been on celexa for about 8 weeks now.... I was having trouble getting to sleep at first and still needed some occasional xanax to help my mind stop racing....i then found myself getting to sleep fine but waking up much earlier than normal...now, I am getting to sleep pretty easily and staying asleep. I think you probably need to give the celexa another couple of weeks and see if you have improvement.
