Lyrica and advil

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica and advil

lyrica

Avatar f tn I was not able to take Lyrica either. One rhematologist said that he thought it was over-rated and that you had to take such high doses to even see any results. Most people are not able to tolerate these high doses. Another thing to try is the generic of Musinex. Don't know if you could take it during pregnancy. But you could research more info. Just google Gufinisen used with fibromyalgia. There is a doctor Armond (sp?) that has come up with this treatment. It has helped some.

Avatar f tn I have just been prescribed Lyrica because I have a chronic, painful disease and the doctor is trying anything to keep me from pain medication. However, everything that I've read regarding Lyrica states that it is addictive. I am really confused and I was wondering if there are others who have used this drug and what their experience has been. Thanks.
Avatar m tn I am having a difficult time managing the pain which is severe and yet my primary care doctor prescribed a very small dose of hydrocodone (1 every 6 hours) which at least took the edge off the pain. The prescription is done and he tells me just to take Advil now. I am confused as to why a Dr. would be reluctant to prescribe pain medications for something as painful as this condition? Should I be seeing a specialist of some sort? I have been taking NSAIDS like candy and very little relief.
Avatar f tn advil is a minor anti inflammatory I have never heard of it prescribed for this before but it could help a little I suppose more widely prescribed for GM are some of the big anti inflammatories - particularly prednisone or methotrexate I did take Naproxen for some time, (months at a pretty high dose - it really attacks your stomach lining though so I went off), which I guess is a step up from advil, and is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID), can't say if it helped with the inflamma
Avatar f tn As some of you know I suffer from severe health anxiety...I started going through a particularly bad time last fall...I am constantly afraid of headaches, fevers, muscle aches etc..as a result of this I started taking advil constantly and I am up to about 10 to 12 liquigels a day..If I don't take them my anxiety goes through the roof and I start to imagine headaches, pain etc...this can't be good for me..and I don't know how to stop...
Avatar f tn No you can't take advil.

2068442 tn?1331322908 It is chronic, every single day I am in serious pain. I take ibuprofen during the day and Advil PM at night. I use a bottle of icy hot a month and also use Salon Pas patches. This pain is becomming unbearable. I do not have insurance, so I am unable to visit different doctors to distinguish the problem. Morever, the pain is the worst when I am sitting and laying down. I am in college and I often have to leave class because I can not take the pain anymore.

Avatar n tn The pain of occipital neuralgia begins in the neck and spreads upwards to scalp, forehead, and behind the eyes. The pain is due to irritation or injury of nerves, pinching of nerves by tight neck muscles, compression of nerves as it leaves the spine secondary to osteoarthritis or tumors in the neck. Local inflammation or infection, gout, diabetes etc.
Avatar f tn Hi... I was diagnosed with ostearthritis & fibromyalgia a few years ago...and have been taking mobic since then, which has worked. About a month ago, the mobic didn't seem to be working as well.. my hands were hurting a lot at work... so I went back to my dr & he changed my medicine to relafen for the osteoarthritis & lyrica for the fibromyalgia. Although the lyrica seems to work, I'm not liking the side effects, puffy hands & feet & eye twitching...
Avatar f tn I have taken Lyrica for neurapathy and it helped a lot. I know a lot of people take neurotin which is similar. Good luck, I hope you find something that helps.
Avatar f tn What, if anything can I take for a headache? I've read far too many mixed reviews. I have advil and ibuprofen here, just don't Wana take anything besides my pre natals, too nerve wracking!
Avatar m tn Can you take meloxicam and later a couple of Advil? I was prescribed meloxicam for my arthritis and it does not always help me..
1051752 tn?1253833456 Imitrex on the other hand is migraine medication and will stop a migraine. Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine.
Avatar f tn I ALWAYS have to take medicine and take it easy for a few days during my period. I usually take Advil the day before my expected period because they say that it works better if you take it before the pain starts. It does for me. Here is my problem: My husband and I are always dreaming and hoping for a baby. Is it a good idea to take Advil the day before my expected period when there is a chance I could be pregnant?
Avatar f tn Hi. How are you? I have had knee surgery for osteoarthriis complicated by MRSA. I was very ill. Along with lots of antibiotics I've been on Advil to Tramadol for knee pain prior to the surgery, to Percocet post op to Dilaudid. currently. My last knee surgery was July12 Inotherwords I have a history of taking progressively stronger pain meds and opiates. After this last surgery I spent two weeks in an excellent rehab hospital.
Avatar m tn She also advised me to take calcium and vit D supplements on top of my one a day vitamin. I use advil and tylenol to help with pain (it doesn't really help much though) and then my primary gave me an rx for tylenol #3 to try on an as needed basis. The tylenol #3 upsets my stomach so I avoid it unless my pain is over the top. I would love to have my life back they way it was before all of this started. :) Good luck to you on the 18th!
Avatar m tn This was an excellent choice, as it helps with my anxiety, I use less clonazepam and I feel less drowsy. Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out.
719785 tn?1232901518 I don't even know where to start. I am so tired of hurting and being tired. I am on Lyrica for FMS. I don't think it is helping. I am still hurting basically all over, but mainly in my hips, wrist, back and knees. The Lyrica has made me gain some weight (I deffinately don't need this) I feel swollen and achy all over since being on the Lyrica. I'm kind of rambling and I do appologize. My concentration level is very low. I am stressed and have found that stress tiggers my FMS.
193953 tn?1272075026 I do understand what your going through. It seems many of us here are in this pickle. We do have legit pain, but can't take our pain pills as prescribed. They do have some newer meds out now Topamax, Lyrica. I don't know much about them though. I'm lucky that Advil helps me alot. (also a heat pack) Hang in there.
Avatar m tn I have also used Lyrica for nerve pain in the past. It made me mentally sluggish at first and I gained weight on it, but it worked really well for the pain and numbness. Hope this helps.
