Avatar n tn I recently felt what feels like a lump under my sternum, it feels like its connected to my sternum and only way i even relized he was there was because i was feeling around my stomach area one day. It really doesnt bother me but lately ive been noticing it more and more. I dunno if its all in my head just because i found it. Im just wondering if I should go see a doctor, ive read of the xiphoid process and im not sure if thats what it is.
Avatar n tn Went to first ENT and he prescribed acid reflux medication, which I took for a month without change in throat lump sensation. Went to Gastroenerologist and she didn't think I had gerd. She took CT scan to hospital for further analysis and determined I had a throat cyst. Went to her recommended ENT and he performed surgery and removed small throat cyst and viral wart. Still feeling persists. I had an MRI but results aren't back yet.
Avatar n tn ) and now burning tongue, loss of bladder control, diareah, insomnia, a lump in her throat, and it all seems to be positional. ALL of these symptoms appear or worsen when she is driving, reclined (in a chair) or while seated at her desk or phone. She originally believed each symptom was separate and seeked treatement from different doctors (with tests galore, all inconclusive).
Avatar m tn I have a small lump on one side of my Uvula. My ear, nose, and throat specailist believes it is a wart or papiloma and wants to remove and biopsy it in a horrifically expensive operation. If left alone, would the lump eventually go away? Would I still have the HPV virus if I have the operation? Would I still have the HPV virus if it goes away?
Avatar f tn That was a week ago. Now I have a sore throat on that side, a lump behind my jaw just under the ear and a lump on the side of my throat. I also noticed a few red spots on my uvula. The pain is really severe in my head and ear. Has anybody any idea what might be wrong, it's starting to really worry me now. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn I am going to book another doctor appt tomorrow. I've also had a small lump on the back of my mouth to the right if my uvula and above my tonsil don't know if the two things are related? I'm having that looked at next month at a maxo specialist but the dentist wasn't concerned with it...
Avatar f tn All these symptoms come and go to a degree, the uvula is always slightly irritated, but this also seems better in the morning and then worse through the day, again salt gargles help After 1.
Avatar m tn *I am pretty sure I do not have PND although mucus does run down my throat and sometimes it will drench my uvula and fall on my tongue ( but doesn't the nose produce mucus everyday which washes down the throat anyway?)--I also don't clear my throat all the time or feel like a lump is in my throat so I do not think I have PND... *I have also used nasonex nasal spray in case it was allergie or stagnant mucus for about 5 weeks ( doctor said my problem should have been gone in 4 weeks)...
346570 tn?1267503627 Some people feel the sensation of a foreign body or lump in their throats when, in reality, no foreign body or lump exists. Stress or excitement may worsen this sensation. Oftentimes, resolving the stress alleviates the problem. Actual difficulty swallowing usually isn't present." I also know this from personal experience. I had it for 3 months straight about 1 1/2 years ago and still get it off and on. About the dull pain under your left rib cage, I had that too a few weeks ago.
Avatar n tn Recently Ive had a scratchy throat with a white bump on the right side of my uvula on my soft palate. I think I might have swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck under my ear where the neck connects to the head that area is painful when I touch it. Ive also felt fatigued but it may be phycological. I know the HiV doesnt travel though saliva but according to the CDC there have be cases of HIV transmitted through oral sex. Are you familiar with these cases? what factors where involved?
Avatar f tn I also have discomfort which feels like swelling, but I have never seen swelling, in the base of my mouth under my tongue, and occasionally in my tongue along the sides and base near the throat. Eating makes it feel better but it comes right back. The tightness in my throat makes it feel as if someone has their hand on my throat and occasionally makes me feel like I am not getting enough air when I am having no problems breathing.
487969 tn?1249316891 I feel an itchy spot in the back of my throat nasopharynx region, behind the uvula, and can kind of see a small irritated area. I can feel a hard kind of lump in the upper neck, right side, about an inch below the jawline. Several small swollen glands around. Also, when I swallow, not only do I visualize the thyroid, under the sternomastoid muscle, just above the thyoid, there seems to be an additional lump.
Avatar n tn At this point, I can talk and no one has commented that anything sounds different, however the tongue tightness/stinging/burning and tight throat occurs all the time when I talk and is sometimes a struggle to keep talking. It also feels like I have a lump in my throat and I seem to wake up every morning trying to swallow the phlegm stuck in my throat. When I stop talking and/or eat something, it gradually relieves the discomfort.
Avatar n tn Then, tonight, she began gagging and when I asked her to show me her mouth, I saw this thin (the size of her pinkie finger) protrusion coming up the back of her throat almost touching her uvula. She began coughing (and has continued coughing, but not croup-like or anything) and then threw up. It didn't seem to really bother her, but she keeps gagging herself. HELP! I don't think it's epiglottitis, so why can I see her epiglottis? I'm sure that is what it is.
Avatar n tn It's been about nearly 3 days, and I have a very painful lump under my left arm as i type this. If i was to raise both arms out to the side, I simply wouldn't be able to on the side with the lump, the pain would be far, far too great, and would feel like my armpit would split open. I have battled depression over the years also, and I do sometimes drink heavily. When I experience the symptom, it's always under the armpit, has been under both arms.
Avatar n tn Waiting for allergy tests but experience daily throat swelling sensation and shortness of breath, sore throat, swollen uvula. Trip to emergency room suggested it is psychosomatic as breathing and throat were fine - want to believe this but I am in dispair due to constant feelings of choking due to sensation of swelling. Lymph nodes are swollen and painful, pain radiating into ears and feelings of sore throat exist. I am on Prednisone and Singulair. Singulair makes me feel worse.
Avatar dr m tn There are many theories as to why people why so many people have this condition but there is no definitive cure. Since you’re under stress, your body thinks that it is under attack and it shunts blood from your peripheries to the more central muscles and to the heart, so that you can run or fight more effectively. This might actually validate the saying “cold hands, warm heart.
Avatar m tn So here is the exact story 1/20/05 – Had a open sore on left lateral side of tongue removed and biopsied and came back negative 4/15/05 – Growth on the posterior left side tongue removed and biopsied and came back negative **somewhere between 4/15/05 and 5/5/05 shortly after the 2nd biopsy, is when I started to have a feeling of something in the back left side of my throat, which is accompanied by a dull pain that seems to come and go.
Avatar n tn Also there is a yellowish lump just posterior to my soft palate if I raise my uvula and observe. The lump is about .5 cm in diameter and slightly raised, but it looks like some of the vessels are originating from it. Could this be some kind of Oropharyngeal / Nasopharyngeal Cancer? Or can this just be a case of bad Post Nasal Drip that needs to be corrected with surgery? I've tried Nasal Washing, and regularly using Sudafed & Guafennesin without any help as well...
Avatar dr m tn Fighting While Sleeping Another physiologic phenomenon that many UARS patients experience is that they’re constantly under a low grade state of stress or anxiety.Whether or not they feel this way while they’re awake, while they’re sleeping, their bodies are in a constant mode of "fight or flight." Both hormonally and neurologically, having UARS can put your body under enormous stress.
Avatar f tn No significant findings for me either. I did notice that when I press my finger between my jaw and mastoid, under my ear I can feel a hard mass, which the Dr. has assured me from the CT scan is my "Spinal Process". I can only feel this mass on the left side. I was terrified of C also, but have had every blood test, tangible, and visual inspection possible. I'm starting to think my neck vertebrae has shifted or twisted, causing all this.
Avatar n tn Ms contin and Oxycontin have a long action, but the half life of oxycodone and morphine is not different as compared to percocet or msir. What is different is how the drug is released into the body. Oxycodone has the same half life whether it is percocet or oxycontin. With oxycontin, it is dissolved and released into the system at a very slow rate. Once it is in the body's circulation, the half life is exactly the same. You could do the same comparison with ms contin and msir.
Avatar n tn My esophagus and soft palate began to feel weird and I could feel small bumps. I can't explain it. Upon inspection with a flashlight in the mirror I noticed my uvula had a red spot on it and my circumvallate papillae were swollen and my tongue was tender (this is all in the back of my throat). My throat felt tight like someone was choking me. I freaked out again and went to the ER. They ran my blood and did a throat culture for mono along with an X-ray of my throat.
Avatar m tn This may or may not be what you have, but hopefully it will help someone. I always felt like something was stuck in my throat or I had a lump in my throat, sometimes left side, sometimes right side. I had trouble swallowing, was afraid to eat at first for fear or choking. I was very terrified for months.
Avatar n tn I feel like it is stress related but I need to get this under control. The swelling has not affected my breathing because it is just half of my tounge. Can someone give me some suggestions. I have also had blood tests to find allergies and really not found anything. Should I go to an allergy specialists ? Thank you and God bless.
748543 tn?1463449675 In fact, it is my strong belief that TMD/TMJ should really be classified as a Craniocervical Disease and hence fall under the umbrella of medical coverage rather than treated strictly as a dental problem. To the Neuromuscular-minded dentist, "Occlusion" is an extension of general Postural Consideration. In other words it is a part of a complete system of interrelated bones, muscles and joints that ultimately relate to the Trigeminal System.
494087 tn?1257796807 Of course my throat wasn't closing. Sometimes I felt a huge lump in my throat and that scared me...until I actually looked and noticed that it was my uvula touching the back of my tongue. The more you focus on this symptom the worse it gets. Try not to focus on it. I agree with nursegirl. Get the all clear from your doc and start focusing on your anxiety issues. Good luck and keep us posted. For what it's worth that particular symptom vanished for me once I realized that it was common.
Avatar n tn It causes a minor infection, gets goopy and i go down with a cold until it decides to come out in a lump of goo. I have tried to improve my immune system so that it doesn't affect me as much when it happens. I have also discovered that it is stopping me from fully playing the didgeridoo as the pressure going down the didg is reduced by a slip of air coming out my nose!!
Avatar n tn Tonsils, Strep, or maybe a swollen uvula (that thing that hangs down) in the back of the throat.. Can't know unless you see your Doc. Sorry. Good luck!
192055 tn?1263559137 Hi, there are a whole bunch of postings under "chronic cough" which seem similar to this. And some good ideas I am going to try I have had a constant cough for 3 plus years and for last year it has been phlegmy like yours. I am always coughing and clearing my throat at meetings like an old man. Worse in a.m. when I wake up or out in cold walking the dogs. Or.... talking on the telephone or in a meeting. Always have a "frog" in my throat.
