Hi, I'm a young adult that's fairly overweight. Just the other day I felt a lump at the back of my neck, right side. It seemed small, pimple-size, and so I didn't worry about it. However, it's been a few days and it seems to have gotten bigger. It's under the skin, doesn't cause much pain (generally painless, but sometimes if you press on it, it aches.

In fact I think you must go to a surgeon right away. He can evaluate the armpit lump and the 'mass' at the nape of the neck. A mammogram and clinical breast examination is also indicated. Are you a smoker? Pl keep me posted.

It is situated above and to the right of her left shoulder on the back, almost at the nape of the neck (so between shoulder blade and neck but up high at the nape of the neck). It is under the skin and can be felt at the nearly same position even if the skin is shifted around (we think it may not be a part of the skin), it feels like it is situated on the muscle under the skin. She has had it a week and she finds it annoying.
If you have a history of cancer in the family and you are now having headaches and blurry vision. Is it near the nape of the neck? Is the lump superficial like a pimple or boil or does it feel as if there is tissue thickness between touch and the mass. But due to your family history you should go to see your General Practitioner and they will assess you like you deserve.

Also, pain at the back of head or neck that intensifies on movement may also be caused by inflammation of the blood vessels of the head or bony changes in the structures of the neck. Anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants may help. Check with her doctor for proper management. Stronger prescription medications may be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
Hi, I am a 23 year old female who noticed red blotches on the nape of my neck in October 2012. At the time I assumed it was an allergic reaction to some hair dye I had just used so I ignored it and didn't think much about it until my neck began to itch in December. I looked in the mirror and the patches are still there. Now in march they are dry and flaky. Any idea as to what this could be?
It started on my chest ( i thought they were pimples ). Then i got them on the back of my leg, nape of my neck, back of arms. I went to the dermatologist and he told me that it is infected hair follicles. My best advice would be not to pick at them or try and pop them because it will make it worse and you will scar.

Hi, i have a lump behind my left ear its hard and its sometimes accompanied by severe headache, nape pain, and nausea. I know that lumps behind ears are supposed to be indicators of infections and that its probably a swollen lymph nodes. But i just find it odd that every time i suffer from from severe headache its getting bigger and harder and always with the symptoms i mentioned above. Does anyone know what this mean? Thank you.
I have a lump on the back of my neck in the middle next to the top of my spine.It appeared about 6 months ago the size of a pea but has grown now to about the size of a marble,its very hard and has started to hurt a little as if I have been sleeping the wrong way.When you touch it it moves around slightly.Has anyone got any advice on what it could be as Im starting to get a little worried especially as it has grown.
My son has a lrg sized lump on the left side of the back of his head near the nape of his neck. I just saw it, he said he has had it about 6+ months now. He has not gotten injured or fell, or anything to explain it being there.
He said he exp. severe pain and the feeling of great pressure in his head.
My friends dog is a 9 year old cockapoo, and the other day I noticed she had a red bloody spot in her fur behind her head, on the backside of her neck. Hey, I have a small lump, about pea sized, on the back left of my neck. It does not hurt, unless I constantly press on it. Over the past year, I have also been having pains in my chest when I breathe, and am short of breath a lot. Also, my legs have been feeling really weak sometimes, to the point where I can't stand. I have noticed 1 lump on my neck (not the same one as before). the lump is at the back of my neck, up by the top to the left. The lump is small, pea size, it's sort of hard, it doesn't seem to move that much when pressed, it doesn't hurt that much when I press it down, but I'm sure it did burn a little when I did it not long ago.
I am 17, male...
Can someone help me out a little ?
