Lump in throat with cough

Common Questions and Answers about Lump in throat with cough

lump

Avatar f tn I do have a few other silent reflux symptoms like clearing throat, dry cough and recently light sore or scratchy throat, but from what I've read the "lump" from silent reflux doesn't go away after swallowing. It does seem to get a little better after taking omeprazole 20, but it is still happening. I read a lot of people with a lump but mine isn't a lump. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn On a side note, the past few weeks (starting a 2 weeks before noticing this back lump) I have had a sore area in my throat (not a sore throat!, no pain swallowing, but an irregular feeling like a lump or abrasion) WITH what seemed to be salivary gland pain, two (first tender, then hard) lymph glands in neck, and pain/throb in armpit, groin, and femoral region (no noticed lumps except swollen pain in groin while on Augmentin) and ear pain.
Avatar m tn For the past 2-3 days I have had a lump in my throat that feels like I have something lodged in there, like I swallowed something to big and it will not go down. It is a rather irritating feeling. What could this be? What are some immediate treatment options? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am having the same issue. Last night I couldn't get to sleep, I felt like my throat was swelling. I kept clearing my throat and coughing until I finally fell asleep. Woke up this morning and still felt this way. I've been clearing my throat since I woke up. Mine gets worse after meals. I didn't even notice it until my family pointed it out. I cough, and feel like I have mucus in my throat after eating. I have an appointment with an ENT in a few weeks.
Avatar n tn I have been for 3 months now been feeling a lump in the back of the throat all the time, and when i eat it gives me a sharp pain when swallowing for a hour or so after eating. I looked in the back tonight and noticed that there was thin black lines in the back, but when swallowed hard many times, it disappeared down the throat, but does come back. What is wrong with my throat?
Avatar n tn I'm not an expert by any means, but I think anxiety and or depression could potentially be the culprit. About a year ago, I started feeling like I had a lump in my throat. Some times it was worse than others but never really seemed to go away. After a couple of weeks of a lump, I started having a little difficultly swallowing. I have a thyroid condition and after doing some research my symptoms sounded exactly like the possibility of my thyroid having enlarged and pushing on my windpipe.
Avatar f tn Sherry, As a heart patient, I say never mess around with unusual heart symptoms. Be sure to call your doctor and discuss this, even though it is a vague, fleeting problem. If by some fluck it starts up and doesn't let up, please go to the er. My MI in January started as a weird lump/swallowing thing in my esophagus and developed into a full blown heart attack.

Avatar n tn The next day I felt fine, but once again, was in cold for a good 2 hours at least. After that, I woke up with a Cough and Ear Ache in the middle of the night. That morning I woke up with a sore throat and a popped ear (same ear). The sore throat lasted a few days, the popped ear was gone within 2. Its been 9 days now, and I feel much better. I have had a lot less cough. I still dont feel 100% . I feel like i have a lump in my throat, making swallowing a struggle.
Avatar f tn The most annoying thing is that I am scared to take any kind of meds for the coughing. I feel like a lump is sick in my throat and no matter how much I cough I can't get rid of it. Also I found that every time I cough I pee a little and I have to be wearing a pad.
Avatar f tn s not communicable cos neither my boyfriend nor my family has contacted it...I also feel a small lump in my throat area. each time I complain to a doctor, I am told it's an allergy... although the lump is jus dere, not growing in size, I am scared and worried...have tried many antibiotic but to no avail...pls I need help. any help wiil be appreciated.
Avatar m tn Its a horrible feeling. The feeling of a lump or something caught in your throat is definitely a symptom of anxiety. I have had this myself many times while suffering anxiety and it always makes me more afraid and worry that something is wrong but then, in a few days or weeks (depending on the severity of the anxiety), it goes away.
Avatar f tn Recently I started getting a cold or an allegy and began with head cold, runny nose (alot of nose blowing) About a day or two into the head cold, I noticed my stomach began to hurt--I have anxiety so this was not uncommon. However when I would drink a sip of coffee or tea I felt a lump in throat--sort of felt like a big burp that would not burst. and then it went away. Until the next time I took a sip of coffee--and after i sipped it and it went down then I felt the lump again.
Avatar f tn Hi, I recently moved to Florida and appear to be suffering from allergies. People have told me that the new area may be what's causing the problem. Last year I got sick twice and both times people were saying allergies could've been the culprit. This year (in early January) I started with an itchy throat. Back in December I had a problem with my ears itching (I assumed they were just dry and used Mineral Oil to ease the itching).
Avatar n tn I have the same exact problem with a lump in my throat and excessive mucus in my throat for 6 months also. I have been to doctor after doctor and had every test done. Today I went to a 3rd ENT, and he put a camera in my nose down into my throat and actually saw the abundance of mucus along with swelling. All the other doctors told me it was GERD and it was just a sensation. I knew I wasn't nuts.
Avatar m tn Hi,, Had a cold/flu last week, have over come that now and im left with a dry tickley cough with a burning sensation in my throat and chest and im also wheezing with a lump like feeling between my throat and chest, Please could someone help, thanks.
Avatar f tn Common causes are anxiety disorder, acid reflux or GERD,biliary disease, cranial nerve compression esp glossopharyngeal and vagus nerve and myasthenia gravis.Throat cancer is unlikely as other symptoms are also present along with feeling of lump in throat. The most common cause is gastro esophageal reflux disease - GERD. Diagnosis is by fibroptic laryngoscopy. Fiberoptic laryngoscopy also helps confirm the GERD diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I have ear pain, hurts to sneeze, cough, yawn and when I press on it. I also feel like I have a lump in my throat. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn for almost one year i have had a contant feeling of a lump in the back of my throat, been to visit my doctor and have been prescribed penicillin (which didnt help), eythromycin (which i had to stop taking due to very bad abdominal pains and sickness) and a steroid nasal spray (which didnt help). every time i swallow it feels as if i am swallowing a golf ball and i am always having to clear my throat.
Avatar f tn Nanci, I am a teacher and I have had a "lump" sensation in my throat for two years. Sometimes it is just a lump, but other days, I am in terrible pain. I have seen five ENTs and just had an MRI. If you read this, would you please contact me at ***@****.
Avatar m tn Your sinuses are all interconnected with your ears and throat, and so that may be the cause of the lump in your throat and plugged ears. However, this doesn't explain your frequent night sweats. Have you had any blood work done?
Avatar m tn I also have a persistant cough with swollen glands (left side is worse than right), with pain up to my ear. Two weeks ago I cought a nasty viral infection, affecting my throad only--no bronchual. Took a Z-pack and was good as new four days later. I was wondering if this could be a flare-up. Sounds like yours is going on 6 weeks now. I'm interested to see if you received a legitimate diagnosis? X-rays are good, especially since a persistant cough is nothing to play around with.
