Common Questions and Answers about Lump in throat vomit

lump

Avatar f tn I've had a painful lump in my side for almost 4 years now which seems to get worse over time and especially during periods of stress. (Absolutely NO privacy from parents despite the fact I'm 22, isolation from making friends/getting a job, sleep deprivation, being confined to one room for weeks at a time.) And within the past few weeks, I've started vomiting from stress. It's not on purpose, it's just from feeling so depressed and angry that I'll feel sick and end up throwing up blood.

Avatar n tn This feeling has led to panic attacks as I have a long commute and the thought of being in that embarrassing situation worries me. Now I often have a feeling of a lump in my throat, and I feel like I have to keep swallowing it down so I won't vomit (though I know I won't because I haven't). I've seen both my primary doctor and gastroenterologist. My blood pressure is fine, blood tests fine, and stool samples negative for parasites.
Avatar n tn On a side note, the past few weeks (starting a 2 weeks before noticing this back lump) I have had a sore area in my throat (not a sore throat!, no pain swallowing, but an irregular feeling like a lump or abrasion) WITH what seemed to be salivary gland pain, two (first tender, then hard) lymph glands in neck, and pain/throb in armpit, groin, and femoral region (no noticed lumps except swollen pain in groin while on Augmentin) and ear pain.
Avatar m tn I would also have a dry mouth, when this happens I drink water and nothing happens just a dry mouth and weird feeling in my throat that makes me feel like I wanna vomit but i don't. I do not get lightheaded or nausea. These symptoms would also wake me up in the middle of my sleep and i would have to go to the bathroom to do a number 2. I am not able to go back to sleep for hours because of the dry mouth and weird feeling. I really don't know what it is. Any advice?
Avatar n tn I took the end of my toothbrush and gently touched it and it felt the same as when i feel the lump in my throat and feels like the area where the irritation is coming from. I have seen a doctor 3 times (the same one) and he has scheduled an appointment with an ENT which is over a month away. This is too annoying, irritating and worrying, so thats too long. The doctor says he doesn't think there is anything wrong or to worry about and that it is not strep.

Thank you Re: Lump in Throat / Globus Hystericus From pennythomas [Log on to view profile] on 2005-05-17 Hello Lovingkindness, I used Ignatia 30c, not 6c in the end.
Avatar f tn The most annoying thing is that I am scared to take any kind of meds for the coughing. I feel like a lump is sick in my throat and no matter how much I cough I can't get rid of it. Also I found that every time I cough I pee a little and I have to be wearing a pad.
Avatar f tn I have this lump feeling in my throat and it feels like vomit that's stuck there or food or something but I am struggling eating or drinking and on top of that I get heartburn like 24/7.
Avatar n tn At the worst times it feels like there is a lump in my throat and pressure in my chest and I also get really painful hiccups sometimes, just one or two at a time. Another Dr. said it was just stress and honestly I think he thought I was making it up because it wasnt happening while I was in his office which wasnt helpful! The one time I want the gurgles... If anyone knows of anythign that actually works I would love to hear it!
Avatar f tn I have a lump in my throat. It is very bothersome, but I don't have it all of the time. Tonight I am having a really bad time with it and I have had it all day. I have had a barium swallow, endoscopy of the throat and esophagus. Also a colonoscopy last week. The barium swallow was normal, the endoscopy showed a narrowing of the esophagus which the doctor stretched. A benign cell tumor was seen and is being biopsied. The colonoscopy showed only mild diverticulus and internal hemerhoids.
Avatar n tn I'm not an expert by any means, but I think anxiety and or depression could potentially be the culprit. About a year ago, I started feeling like I had a lump in my throat. Some times it was worse than others but never really seemed to go away. After a couple of weeks of a lump, I started having a little difficultly swallowing. I have a thyroid condition and after doing some research my symptoms sounded exactly like the possibility of my thyroid having enlarged and pushing on my windpipe.
Avatar n tn VCD/Vocal Cord Dysfunction/Laryngospasm attacks, cough, voice problems, asthma, globus (feeling of lump in throat), constant need to clear throat, much extra throat mucus, worsening of sinus condition, sore throat, laryngitis, voice problems, pre-cancerous conditions of throat &/or esophagus, etc. SOME GER/LPR CONTROL THINGS WE DO, that we learned from the excellent book: STOMACH AILMENTS AND DIGESTIVE DISTURBANCES, by Michael T. Murray, N.D.
Avatar m tn I also used to force my self to finish my meal because I knew I had to eat something, but it got so mentally draining that I had to stop. If I eat too much, it feels like I'm going to vomit (lump in the back of my throat, hard to swallow food), but I've never actually vomited. It usually onsets during the meal (sometimes only a few bites into it), causing me not being able to finish my meal.

Avatar f tn I have had cold symptoms for nearly 6 months with swollen, hard tender nodes in my throat and underarms ( especially left side) and very tender on ribs below left underarm and left clavicle is invisible now due to the swelling in my left chest area. I have also gotten super light sensitive and my eyes hurt/ burn constantly even closed. My body never seems thirsty and I have to remember to drink fluids. I also vomit if I even drink a small glass of wine or 2-4 oz of beer. I'm pretty anxious.
Avatar n tn I kind of forgot about it until the other night I was helping my son in the bath and noticed the lump was still there? It seems to move a little and feels kind of hard but squishy. How can I be sure this isn't a sign of Cancer. I am going to take him back to the doctors. He hasn't been sick lately and acts normal. Help I can't help to think the worst. The internet has me thinking that way.
Avatar f tn The pressure I have in my throat is there all the time and has been for a long time (well over a year), but in general, it's gotten worse over time. Sometimes now it's really bad and feels like I'm going to absolutely choke on it and other times, it's there, but doesn't feel so large. It's almost it is swells and then goes down only to swell up again. My ENT seemed to think that it did have something to do with thyroid even though he couldn't feel anything from the outside.
Avatar m tn This may or may not be what you have, but hopefully it will help someone. I always felt like something was stuck in my throat or I had a lump in my throat, sometimes left side, sometimes right side. I had trouble swallowing, was afraid to eat at first for fear or choking. I was very terrified for months.
Avatar n tn can anyone help me, is anyone experiencing the feeling in the throat i am having, i must add i dont have this throat discomfort first this in the morning or whilst i am eating. HELP...
Avatar m tn It feels like ive got a lump in my throat by the Adams apple and my tonsil area is really red and what look like small blisters just in front of the tonsils. Also the pain sometimes extends to my ears too and the area below my jaw line also seems sensitive.
Avatar n tn i am eighteen years old and in very good physical shape an otherwise very healthy, but for a long time or at least its seems like an eternity, i have had this recurrent feeling of tightness in my throat just below my jaw bones on either side of my face. It is like i have this constant need to gag, and eventually i finally do but afterwards the feeling just comes right back with no relief.

Is that reflux? Over the past 3 weeks, it might have happened under a dozen times. So probably due to the other problems.

When these things first started happening to me, my doctors & I both focused on the breathing side of things, because of my chronic asthma.
Avatar n tn I think I have what Will3477 describes. There is a tightness under my jaw - almost like I've been chewing too much or something. There is also this sensation of something at the back of my throat that makes me want to gag. I have to swallow hard to make it go away and sometimes I feel like that feeling might be mucus piling up back there. The other day, however, I realized that it sort of feels like that lump in throat you get when you're about to cry.
Avatar m tn It began in 1976 and re occurs every 5 to 6 years. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out.
Avatar f tn I have started to feel like my throat has a lump in it or it is "Closing" And i am not sure what it is i could possibly be anxious even though i dont think i am. Water seems to be the only thing that helps with it. I also feel like i'm going to vomit even though i never do. I'm going to a ENT doctor in december maybe they can see what may be going on and see it it could be throat cancer or i'm just anxious then i wont worry so much and make it worse.
Avatar n tn (I have a severe case of emetophobia - so I try my best to avoid throwing up) What's worse is, sometimes I would belch and I'd get a horrible vomit taste in my mouth! Nothing comes up or anything, I just belch normally and get that taste sometimes. You see, every time that 'something' comes up, I try force myself to belch, (it sounds like I'm trying to vomit.....) and sometimes nothing happens, but then sometimes, I feel a bit of liquid come up into my throat!
Avatar f tn Here's a really good description of this problem. As the author admits, it's not a diagnosis or medical advice but it does contain helpful information. From the author's personal experience this happens with heavier guys in their 30s or 40s but I'm pretty lean in my 50s and this has only been occurring in the last couple of years. My last incident resulted in my throat shutting down completely for almost 24 hours until a trip to the Emergency Department cleared it up.
