Avatar n tn I try coughing or drinking but the throat noise does not go away or even change it. I can tell it is not in my lungs, but in my throat. I can breathe shallow and minimize the noise but I feel out of breath then. My daughters say this wheeze is not my snore. They say I wheeze before the snore on intake and then exhale. I hear the noise during the day but I really have to listen to hear it as there is always too much back ground noise.
Avatar m tn It began in 1976 and re occurs every 5 to 6 years. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out.
Avatar n tn Hey there, found this message board today after noticing the phantom smoke smell for the past week. The thing I notice I have in common with some of you is that I recently had a bad cold I caught while travelling. The talk of possibly being a symptom of neurological problems and brain tumors is worrisome since this coincided with me discontinuing a prescription of Lithium that was making me break out in acne. Anyone know if the two could be connected some how?
Avatar n tn I wake every morning with horrible pain in lower back (kidney area) that radiates to the front of stomach (rib area). I have had battery of tests and found nothing. I am only able to sleep 5-6 hours before pain wakes me, also unable to take a deep breath until I get out of bed (very painful just to roll over), once I stand and get out of bed the pain almost immediately starts to ease. After about 20 minutes of walking around and after first morning void, pain disappears for remainder of day.
Avatar n tn About 48 hours ago, I noticed this heat sensation in my left shin. At first I thought I was standing too close to a heat vent in the floor at work! It is a warm, sort of tingly sensation that lasts 5 seconds and occurs, I don't know, 10 times throughout the day. I wonder if I slept on the leg funny?? Stress?? I am 43 and in reasonably good health but seem to be a hypochondriac (spelling?) at times.
Avatar m tn Oh I almost forgot, I also had the "lump in the throat". My thyroid was actually enlarged due to the acid reflux! I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy... dx- esophagealitis (also caused by reflux) Pain in the ribcage so bad Id be hunched over screaming in pain....please go to your dr's and ask for a blood test- celiacs, gluten sensitivity, even chrones disease....
Avatar n tn It is just a tightness - not there all the time - just a couple of times through the day then it goes (or I stop concentrating on it!). I think I had this similar thing 10 years ago - but it felt just more like a lump in my throat. Am sorry for such a long post - helps to vent (my Husband thinks I'm crazy and is sick of my health woes!). Thanks for reading!
974371 tn?1424656729 I have checked him many times but last night, I now feel a pretty good size and hard lump in his throat. It does not feel like a lymph node. Have an appt to take him in this afternoon. Yes, I am worried. Please think some good thoughts.
Avatar n tn What drugs have you taken in the past to treat your throat problems? Any antibiotic? If you have taken cipro, levaquin, avelox, or similar ones then your symptoms could well be a delayed reaction to them, that can show up up to several months after taking the medicines. There are dozens of other drugs that cause symptoms like the ones that you describe, that persist long after the treatment has been completed, for instance, most antimalarials, some inmunosupressors, and many more.
Avatar n tn Ataxia is normally associated with loss of balance, a symptom that is not usually indicative of severe anxiety. Symptoms such as tight muscles, lump in the throat, tension headaches, palpitations are highly inferential of an anxiety-based illness. Use of anti-depressants are dependent upon history and combination of symptoms. I often use relaxation technicques and biofeedback as a first choice.

1504275 tn?1300760036 ) My mom had a lump in her breast in her 20's, but my dad has never had cancer. As a kid, I was always very anxious. At night, I would always be too hot and too cold at the same time. I've always had a body temperature of around 97.1 and a low blood pressure. I've always been extremely tired for no reason, which often caused me to fall asleep in class. No matter how much sleep I'd get, I'd just be exhausted.

Avatar n tn I have had a burning sensation in my throat for the last 6 months or more. Also the feeling that I have mucous in my throat that won't go away no matter how much I clear my throat. I went to a throat specialist who treated me for imflamed vocal cords. The medication he gave me did not seem to help much. He decided that my problem must be GERD and he started me on Prilosec. 20 mgs twice a day. I still have the problem but not as bad.
Avatar n tn I haven't checked back in here in a while and am so surprised to see all of the comments adding up. I was particularly intrigued by Kayley's blog. My whole life doctors told me that what I was describing was not possible. It was all in my head. Then when I was persistent it was too much head conjestion or an emotional "lump" in my throat. Do these guys think we just sit around and make this stuff up? There is no way we could make this up.
1293682 tn?1311959671 The extensive tests above were ordered by my ENT for some reason. I guess he was checking my thyroid function since I was complaining of a lump in my throat and he found nerve damage to my superior laryngeal nerve. Should I bring up the low T3 level since I haven't talked about this with my endo, to date?
Avatar f tn So far this evening my back is hurting pretty bad and a sore lump in my throat accompanied by a massive headache. I pray I can sleep tonight.
Avatar f tn Now that that's done with I feel a weird urge to always swallow like my throat is irritated or like there's a lump in it or something and I check it allll he time and it looks fairly normal maybe a little red. No white stuf flike I've red about...yet anyways Im praying. The biggest thing now though besides the throat is this weakness I'm feeling in my leg muscles. Not enough to keep my from my daily life activities but enough so that I notice I'm not myself.
748543 tn?1463449675 TMJ' as it is wrongly called by many) is easy to treat and self-manage or that it may all be in the patient's mind. The sources in the article stated that, "TMJ problems were originally thought to be caused by dental Malocclusion but that this was an infrequent cause of the problem". The American Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), an organization of some 40,000 of the nation's leading dentist, recognizes the relationship between maloclussion and headaches.
Avatar f tn Very brief tickling in the throat sensation and then an inability to breathe in (even tho i could breathe out). Sometimes it felt like i had swallowed spit down the wrong way even though i hadnt, but couldnt seem to clear my throat I would run out of class, try my best to take slow breaths and not panic (which was very hard) and take tiny sips of water till i could start drawing in a breath again. It would take about 10mins for my breathing to return to normal.
662361 tn?1225338107 This starts off discussing Lyme disease because it is directly in reference to a question based on that subject. To save you effort in the future, directly private message people like myself who can give you quicker answers than looking for the answer yourself. I am so sorry you had to do that. On thing you may have enlightened me on is the fact that EBV can reoccur. I have to ask, were you tested for antibodies or did you have symptoms for a long time?
709619 tn?1230165075 Welcome. We generally do *not* post LLMD's names in the open here, because state medical boards in some places are keen to stop LLMDs from treating fully, and the result may be harassment and perhaps loss of medical license for LLMDs who treat for Lyme as they deem appropriate. Some docs like Stricker (mentioned in a post above) are already out in public, and he is/has been high up in ILADS, the main LLMD organization, so it's no secret of his point of view.
Avatar n tn From when i came round from the operation, i have had the feeling that there is a 'lump' in my throat. This has made it uncomfortable when i swallow anything. Then three weeks ago the same 'lump' feeling was at the base of the eosophagus and i am feeling like i have indigestion. I have trouble bringing wind up too, as it feels like something is stopping it. When i bend forward the lump feels much more pronounced and i get a strange feeling as though there is pressure on the front of my neck.
213398 tn?1202674074 Hi oatbucket, I think betablockers only help with the physical symptoms of anxiety such as feeling edgy, breathless, lump in throat, feeling, palpitations etc (by blocking adrenalin). That is why they are often used for panic attacks. They don't haev any affect on worrying and anxious thought though. I think only antidepressents and tranquilizers do that.

480448 tn?1426952138 For a person who is experiencing this for the first time...it can be VERY upsetting and disturbing. I was there before as well...the first time I went through this, I was convinced there was something wrong with my eyes. Everything just "looked" so weird, so odd. I almost felt like I was having out of body experiences...or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind.
Avatar n tn Swelling in hands, and nausia and fatugie and fullness in my throat. I also get a burning sensation on my ribs occassionally...like the skin hurts to touch. Im not sure what happened but i just want to feel 28 years old and be like everyone else again. I also found out that i have borderline osetoperosis through a Dexa scan. If anyone has any ideas I would appriciate your help. P.S. I am also now doing allergy shots for the environmental allergies 3 times a week.
