143952 tn?1237868141 Hi - I've had a very small lump in the back of my neck for a few months now, since about July I think. It's about two inches from the base of the ear towards the middle of the neck and about 1/2 to 1 inch down from the hairline. Does anyone know which nodes those are - I've seen conflicting info from websites. And, how likely is it to be something serious? I don't think it's gotten much bigger than from I first discovered it, but the area seems more irritated now.
Avatar f tn Also, my lump is under my arm but in the breast tissue, would an MRI show the area under my arm? One last question...I have been having shoulder and neck ache...could this have something to do with this darn lump? I have appt next week. Just seeking answers now, i know that no one can diagnose without seeing and examining me, just need info.

Also Disc protrusion at C5 C6. Now for the shoulder -prominent marrow edema on both sides of the acromioclavicular joint.
Avatar n tn In 98 I had what turned out to be a severe retinal migrane (I was functionally blind in both eyes for almost an hour) and an MRI die study was done of my head to look for swelling and other posible abnormalities. In August of this year I had an MRI of my cervical spine to help diagnose worsening symptoms in my left arm. The detail in the pictures was amazing. I had 2 ruptured discs - C5-6 and C7-6 - one of which (6-7) was impacting significantly on my spinal cord.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have noticed a lump on the back of my neck. It is only on the left side. It is in the area circled in the attached pic. It is scary and i really just want too know if there is a chance it could be nothing to worry about. I had a few random panic attacks a couple months ago, and ever since ive been thinking something is wrong with me. So im hoping that it could be nothing. I hope that its not cancerous. If you could tell me the possibilities, it would be great.
611254 tn?1223918441 and he thought it could be my muscles bunched up from my neck pain. But the MRI (no contrast)showed my muscles in the neck looked normal and it didn't show this 'lump' to be bone either. About 6 months ago I started having problems 'coming up with words' in normal conversations. Example, I couldn't say 'smoke' I could only come up with 'fire cloud'. It's not daily, but it's often enough to be annoying. I occasionally experience vertigo and am very forgetful. *sigh* I must sound ridiculous!
Avatar n tn While your neck should visually appear the same on both sides, upon closer examination, one could find subtle differences in anatomy. Perfect symmetry does not exist in the body.
Avatar m tn I have had a large lump in my neck for at least 5 years now. The lump is not noticeable. The lump is located at the base of the skull, under my hair line, between the left side of spine and the left trapezius muscle (I believe it's the correct muscle). The lump can not be felt if head is facing forward and level. The lump can be felt if head is lowered, with chin to chest. In this position, the lump is nearly the size of a ping pong ball cut in half; but it is more oblong than round.
Avatar n tn My dad just told me that they think he has lymphoma due to a lump in his neck and underarm. They're testing him now. Is this kind of thing genetic??? Have any of you had all of these crazy symptoms and it turned out to be not so serious? What about those of you with lymphoma? Did you have all of the symptoms? What were your night sweats like- did you have them every night or just some nights? Mine are nearly everynight.
210459 tn?1197085792 I have had a lump in my neck for 7 years. I have buried my head about it till now afraid of what it may be. The lump is non painfull and about the size of a marble. It is slightly visible and protrudes maybe a tenth of an inch from neck. it has grown very slightly in the seven years. The lump is hard and mobile under skin. it feels like its attached to the skin underneath. the skin over it is normal colored. it is located directly in the middle front of neck just beneath my adams apple.
Avatar m tn There was coughing and trouble breathing, and he fainted shortly after. On the back of his neck, there is a lump that is about an inch in diameter, and slightly protruding. Other symptoms include twitching in the hands and constant headaches. Most recently, there was numbness in the facial areas, neck, hands, and legs. While parking his car in the garage tonight, he suddenly was unable to open his eyes and wasn't able to see. He has seen doctors, whom all were unable to identify the problem.
1549138 tn?1293935607 I have a lump on the bottom of my neck on the left hand side. Every time I rub the lump it hurts really bad and releases tension allowing me to crack my neck. Avatar f tn I have had a lump and pain in my neck for a while. My dr thought it was just an infection. Have had many types of antibiotics and nothing has worked. I am concerned that it is cancer of some kind as I have had skin cancer when I was a teenager. My dr is not listening to my concerns. What should I do? This discussion is related to small bean sized lump in neck , bad hoarse cough , hurts to look up and down.

Avatar n tn Also, just after my shower tonight I took at look in the mirror to see if I can tell more closely what it is, the lump is under the skin, round, pea size, hard, I squeeze it and it looked like there was puss coming out of a pour. Anyway, how long should I wait to see a doctor? 1 week?
Avatar n tn I also have neck pain at the base of my skull on the left side and in the front of my neck on the left along with a feeling of a lump when I swallow.I also had this last year and it went away on its own after about 3 months, now it has come back and I have had it for 4 months now.My Doctor has treated me for GERD, post nasal drip and depression. I went to the ENT last year and he also saw nothing. I do get some relief when I take ativan but it returns after about 10-12 hours.
Avatar n tn I have a large lump that has been growing for over 6 months at the side of my neck and has broken my first rib. It is very hard to touch and extremely painful. It was wrongly diagnosed as a swollen muscle from repetitive strain injury from lifting my three small children for the past 12 months. I have been suffering with unbelievable pain for the last 12 months from shoulder and neck pain, doctors simply said it was muscle related as they did an MRI which was normal.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a two year old son who has had a pea like lump on the back of his neck for approx 20 months. I have taken him to the doctors several times but everytime the doctor tells me is it will go down within the next 3 months (I have now been told this three times!). He has had one blood test which showed that he had no infections. I am now very concerned as my GP has not informed me of possible causes or future treatments required if the lump persists.

Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? Can you elaborate on the mass seen in the MRI? Any mass or lump needs to be evaluated further for proper diagnosis. Differentials to be ruled out include benign tumors such as lipoma or sebacious cysts, parotid gland issues, and malignancy. Your symptoms of headache and neck pain could indeed be directly associated to this. Aside from the imaging study, additional diagnostic tests should be done for proper evaluation.
Avatar n tn Hi, 23 y/o female........I have a question regarding a lump in my neck muscle. It has been there for about a year and I dont think it has grown any larger. It seems to be located deep to the sternomastoid muscle just under the mastoid process of the skull. My doctor said it felt like a trigger point...however it does not hurt at all and feels like it is almost inside or attached to the muscle.
Avatar n tn I did see my primary care physican and she suspects something to do with the nerves in my neck. I have had xrays and they did find something in the back of my throat so am scheduled for an mri next week...It seens you were right on....
